1 The LORD said to Moses, "Yet one plague more I will bring upon Pharaoh and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence; when he lets you go, he will drive you away completely.	1 Darauf sagte der HERR zu Mose: »Noch eine einzige Plage will ich über den Pharao und über Ägypten kommen lassen; alsdann wird er euch von hier ziehen lassen, ja er wird, wenn er euch bedingungslos entläßt, euch sogar gewaltsam von hier wegtreiben.
2 Speak now in the hearing of the people, that they ask, every man of his neighbor and every woman of her neighbor, jewelry of silver and of gold."	2 Gib nun dem Volke die bestimmte Weisung, daß sie sich insgesamt, Männer wie Weiber, silberne und goldene Wertsachen von ihren Nachbarn und Nachbarinnen erbitten (oder: leihen).«
3 And the LORD gave the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians. Moreover, the man Moses was very great in the land of Egypt, in the sight of Pharaoh's servants and in the sight of the people.	3 Der HERR stimmte dann die Ägypter günstig gegen das Volk; auch stand Mose in den Augen der Diener des Pharaos und des ganzen ägyptischen Volkes als ein großer Mann da.
4 And Moses said, "Thus says the LORD: About midnight I will go forth in the midst of Egypt;	4 Hierauf sagte Mose: »So hat der HERR gesprochen: ›Um Mitternacht will ich mitten durch Ägypten schreiten;
5 and all the first-born in the land of Egypt shall die, from the first-born of Pharaoh who sits upon his throne, even to the first-born of the maidservant who is behind the mill; and all the first-born of the cattle.	5 da soll dann jede Erstgeburt in Ägypten sterben, vom erstgeborenen Sohn des Pharaos an, der auf seinem Thron sitzt, bis zum Erstgeborenen der Magd, die hinter der Handmühle sitzt, auch alles Erstgeborene vom Vieh.
6 And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there has never been, nor ever shall be again.	6 Da wird sich ein großes Wehgeschrei im ganzen Land Ägypten erheben, wie ein solches noch nie dagewesen ist und nie wieder stattfinden wird.
7 But against any of the people of Israel, either man or beast, not a dog shall growl; that you may know that the LORD makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel.	7 Aber gegen keinen Israeliten, weder gegen einen Menschen noch gegen das Vieh, soll auch nur ein Hund ein Knurren hören lassen, damit ihr erkennt, daß der HERR eine Scheidung (oder: einen Unterschied) zwischen den Ägyptern und den Israeliten macht.‹
8 And all these your servants shall come down to me, and bow down to me, saying, 'Get you out, and all the people who follow you.' And after that I will go out." And he went out from Pharaoh in hot anger.	8 Dann werden alle diese deine Diener zu mir herabkommen, sich vor mir niederwerfen und bitten: ›Ziehe weg, du und das ganze Volk, das deiner Leitung folgt!‹, und danach werde ich wegziehen.« Hierauf ging (Mose) vom Pharao weg in glühendem Zorn.
9 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Pharaoh will not listen to you; that my wonders may be multiplied in the land of Egypt."	9 Der HERR hatte aber zu Mose gesagt: »Der Pharao wird nicht auf euch hören, damit meine Wunder in Ägypten zahlreich werden.«
10 Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh; and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he did not let the people of Israel go out of his land.	10 So haben denn Mose und Aaron alle diese Wunder vor dem Pharao vollführt; aber der HERR verstockte das Herz des Pharaos, so daß er die Israeliten aus seinem Lande nicht ziehen ließ.
