1 On the third day, when she ended her prayer, she took off the garments in which she had worshipped, and arrayed herself in splendid attire.	1 E fece dire a lei (viene a dire senz'altro Mardocheo ad Esther), che si presentasse al re, e lo pregasse pel suo popolo, e per la sua patria.
2 Then, majestically adorned, after invoking the aid of the all-seeing God and Savior, she took her two maids with her,	2 Ricordati (disse egli) del tempo di tua bassezza, come fosti educata sotto di me; perocché Aman, che è il secondo dopo del re ha parlato contro di noi per farci perire:
3 leaning daintily on one,	3 E tu invoca il Signore, e parla per noi al re, e libera noi dalla morte.
4 while the other followed carrying her train.	4 E il terzo giorno ella depose le vesti, che aveva intorno, e si ammantò del suo fasto.
5 She was radiant with perfect beauty, and she looked happy, as if beloved, but her heart was frozen with fear.	5 E in mezzo allo splendore degli abbigliamenti reali, invocato il Reggitore, e Salvatore di tutti Dio, prese seco due cameriere,
6 When she had gone through all the doors, she stood before the king. He was seated on his royal throne, clothed in the full array of his majesty, all covered with gold and precious stones. And he was most terrifying.	6 Ad una delle quali ella si appoggiava come non potendo per la sua delicatezza, e fiacchezza sostenere il suo corpo:
7 Lifting his face, flushed with splendor, he looked at her in fierce anger. And the queen faltered, and turned pale and faint, and collapsed upon the head of the maid who went before her.	7 L'altra poi delle cameriere andava dietro alla sua signora, e reggeva le vesti, che strascicavan per terra.
8 Then God changed the spirit of the king to gentleness, and in alarm he sprang from his throne and took her in his arms until she came to herself. And he comforted her with soothing words, and said to her,	8 Ed ella aspersa il volto di colore di rosa, con occhi graziosi, e brillanti, nascondeva l'animo afflitto, e compreso da eccessivo timore.
9 "What is it, Esther? I am your brother. Take courage;	9 Passate adunque una dopo L'altra tutte le porte, si stette dinanzi al re assiso sul suo soglio reale, che era vestito del regio ammanto, e folgoreggiava per l'oro, e le pietre preziose, ed era di terribile aspetto.
10 you shall not die, for our law applies only to the people. Come near."	10 E avendo egli alzato lo sguardo, dimostrando negli occhi ardenti il furore dell'animo, la regina venne meno, e mutato in pallidezza il suo colore, piegò la vacillante testa sopra la cameriera.
11 Then he raised the golden scepter and touched it to her neck;	11 Ma Dio rivolse a clemenza il cuore del re, e frettoloso, e in timore sbalzò dal suo trono, e sorreggendola colle sue braccia, sino a tanto che fu rinvenuta, la accarezzava, dicendole:
12 and he embraced her, and said, "Speak to me."	12 Che hai, o Esther? Io son tuo fratello; non temere:
13 And she said to him, "I saw you, my lord, like an angel of God, and my heart was shaken with fear at your glory.	13 Tu non morrai: perocché questa legge è fatta per tutti, e non per te.
14 For you are wonderful, my lord, and your countenance is full of grace."	14 Appressati adunque, e tocca lo scettro.
15 But as she was speaking, she fell fainting.	15 E standosi ella in silenzio, prese il bastone di oro, e lo pose sul collo a lei, e baciolla, e disse: Perché non mi parli?
16 And the king was agitated, and all his servants sought to comfort her.	16 Ed ella rispose: Io ho mirato te, o Signore, eome un Angelo di Dio, e il timore di tua magnificenza turbò il cuor mio.
	17 Perocché tu, o Signore, sei grandemente ammirabile, e la tua faccia è piena di grazie.
	18 E mentre così parlava, venne meno di bel nuovo, e perdo quasi ogni sentimento.
	19 E il re si turbava, e tutti i suoi ministri la consolavano.
