1 Now his father Tobit was counting each day, and when the days for the journey had expired and they did not arrive,	1 Enquanto Tobias se demorava, por causa das núpcias, seu pai Tobias estava em cuidados, dizendo: Quem sabe por que motivo tarda meu filho, por que se tem lá detido?
2 he said, "Is it possible that he has been detained? Or is it possible that Gabael has died and there is no one to give him the money?"	2 Porventura morreria Gabelo, e não haverá ninguém que lhe restitua o dinheiro?
3 And he was greatly distressed.	3 Começou ele, pois, a entristecer-se em extremo, e Ana, sua mulher, com ele ; ambos juntos começaram a chorar, porque seu filho não voltava no tempo marcado.
4 And his wife said to him, "The lad has perished; his long delay proves it." Then she began to mourn for him, and said,	4 Sobretudo sua mãe derramava lágrimas inesgotáveis e dizia: Ai, ai de mim! meu filho, para que te mandamos nós tão longe, a ti que eras a luz dos nossos olhos, o bordão da nossa velhice, a consolação da nossa vida e a esperança da nossa posteridade?
5 "Am I not distressed, my child, that I let you go, you who are the light of my eyes?"	5 Nós, que em ti só tínhamos tudo, não devíamos afastar-te da nossa companhia.
6 But Tobit said to her, "Be still and stop worrying; he is well."	6 Tobias dizia-lhe: Cala-te, não te perturbes, que o nosso filho está são ; aquele homem, com quem nós o mandamos, é muito fiel.
7 And she answered him, "Be still and stop deceiving me; my child has perished." And she went out every day to the road by which they had left; she ate nothing in the daytime, and throughout the nights she never stopped mourning for her son Tobias, until the fourteen days of the wedding feast had expired which Raguel had sworn that he should spend there. At that time Tobias said to Raguel, "Send me back, for my father and mother have given up hope of ever seeing me again."	7 Ela, porém, não se podia consolar de modo algum, mas, saindo todos os dias fora, andava olhando para todas as parles, e corria por todos os caminhos, por onde esperava que o filho poderia voltar, para o ver vir ao longe, se lhe fosse possível.
8 But his father-in-law said to him, "Stay with me, and I will send messengers to your father, and they will inform him how things are with you."	8 Entretanto Raguel dizia a seu genro: Fica-te aqui; eu mandarei a Tobias, teu pai, um mensageiro com novas da tua saúde.
9 Tobias replied, "No, send me back to my father."	9 Tobias respondeu-lhe: Eu sei que meu pai e minha mãe estão agora contando-os dias e que o seu espírito está num continuo tormento.
10 So Raguel arose and gave him his wife Sarah and half of his property in slaves, cattle, and money.	10 Raguel, depois de ter feito muitas instâncias a Tobias, ao ver que este não queria, de modo algum, condescender com ele, entregou-lhe sua filha Sara e metade de tudo o que possuía em servos, servas, rebanhos, camelos, vacas, e em grande quantidade de dinheiro; (depois)deixou-o partir são e alegre,
11 And when he had blessed them he sent them away, saying, "The God of heaven will prosper you, my children, before I die."	11 dizendo: Que o santo anjo do Senhor seja convosco na viagem, vos conduza sem perigo algum, e que os meus olhos vejam os vossos filhos antes de eu morrer.
12 He said also to his daughter, "Honor your father-in-law and your mother-in-law; they are now your parents. Let me hear a good report of you. " And he kissed her. And Edna said to Tobias, "The Lord of heaven bring you back safely, dear brother, and grant me to see your children by my daughter Sarah, that I may rejoice before the Lord. See, I am entrusting my daughter to you; do nothing to grieve her."	12 Os pais, abraçando a sua filha, beijaram-na e deixaram-na partir,
	13 recomendando-lhe que honrasse os seus sogros, que amasse o seu marido, que regesse a sua família, que governasse a sua casa, conservando-se ela própria irrepreensível.
