1 These are the heads of their fathers' houses, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylonia, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king:	1 Voici avec leur généalogie, les chefs de familles qui partirent de Babylone avec moi sous le règne du roi Artaxerxès:
2 Of the sons of Phinehas, Gershom. Of the sons of Ithamar, Daniel. Of the sons of David, Hattush,	2 des fils de Pinhas: Gerchon; des fils d’Itamar: Daniyel; des fils de David: Hatouch,
3 of the sons of Shecaniah. Of the sons of Parosh, Zechariah, with whom were registered one hundred and fifty men.	3 fils de Chekanyas; des fils de Paréoch: Zékaryas, avec qui furent enregistrés 150 hommes;
4 Of the sons of Pahath-moab, Eli-e-ho-enai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred men.	4 des fils de Pahat-Moab: Élyoénaï fils de Zerahyas, et avec lui 200 hommes;

15 I gathered them to the river that runs to Ahava, and there we encamped three days. As I reviewed the people and the priests, I found there none of the sons of Levi.	15 Je les ai rassemblés près de la rivière qui coule vers Ahava et pendant trois jours nous avons campé là. J’ai reconnu des laïcs et des prêtres, mais il n’y avait pas de lévites.
16 Then I sent for Eliezer, Ari-el, Shemaiah, Elnathan, Jarib, Elnathan, Nathan, Zechariah, and Meshullam, leading men, and for Joiarib and Elnathan, who were men of insight,	16 J’ai donc envoyé Éliézer, Ariel, Chémayas, Yarib, Elnatan, Natan, les chefs, Zékaryas et Méchoullam, des instructeurs.
17 and sent them to Iddo, the leading man at the place Casiphia, telling them what to say to Iddo and his brethren the temple servants at the place Casiphia, namely, to send us ministers for the house of our God.	17 Je les ai envoyés à Iddo, le gouverneur de Kasifya, je leur ai dit les paroles qu’ils devaient répéter à Iddo et à ses frères, installés à Kasifya, pour qu’ils nous amènent des serviteurs pour le Temple de notre Dieu.
18 And by the good hand of our God upon us, they brought us a man of discretion, of the sons of Mahli the son of Levi, son of Israel, namely Sherebiah with his sons and kinsmen, eighteen;	18 Comme Dieu dans sa bonté disposait toute chose en notre faveur, ils nous ramenèrent Chérébyas, un homme intelligent du clan de Mahli fils de Lévi fils d’Israël. Il vint avec ses fils et ses frères; ils étaient 18.
19 also Hashabiah and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, with his kinsmen and their sons, twenty;	19 Hachabyas et son frère Yéchayas, du clan de Mérari, arrivèrent avec leurs fils, au nombre de 20 personnes.
20 besides two hundred and twenty of the temple servants, whom David and his officials had set apart to attend the Levites. These were all mentioned by name.	20 Parmi les serviteurs que David et les chefs avaient attribués au service des lévites, il en arriva également 220; on les enregistra tous un par un.
21 Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from him a straight way for ourselves, our children, and all our goods.	21 Là, au bord de la rivière Ahava, j’ai proclamé un jeûne pour faire pénitence devant notre Dieu, pour le supplier de nous donner un heureux voyage avec nos enfants et tout ce que nous emmenions.
22 For I was ashamed to ask the king for a band of soldiers and horsemen to protect us against the enemy on our way; since we had told the king, "The hand of our God is for good upon all that seek him, and the power of his wrath is against all that forsake him."	22 J’aurais eu honte de demander au roi une troupe ou des cavaliers pour nous protéger d’attaquants sur la route. En effet, nous avions dit au roi: “La force de notre Dieu accompagne pour leur bien, tous ceux qui le cherchent, mais sa force et sa colère sont pour tous ceux qui l’abandonnent.”
23 So we fasted and besought our God for this, and he listened to our entreaty.	23 Nous avons donc jeûné et nous avons supplié Dieu à cette intention, et il nous a exaucés.
24 Then I set apart twelve of the leading priests: Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their kinsmen with them.	24 Alors j’ai pris à part douze parmi les chefs des prêtres en plus de Chérébyas, Hachabyas et dix de leurs frères.
25 And I weighed out to them the silver and the gold and the vessels, the offering for the house of our God which the king and his counselors and his lords and all Israel there present had offered;	25 J’ai pesé l’argent, l’or et les objets que le roi, ses conseillers, ses chefs et tous les Israélites présents avaient donnés pour le Temple de notre Dieu.
26 I weighed out into their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels worth a hundred talents, and a hundred talents of gold,	26 Tout cela je l’ai pesé et remis entre leurs mains: 650 talents d’argent, cent objets d’argent valant chacun 2 talents d’argent, 100 talents d’or,
27 twenty bowls of gold worth a thousand darics, and two vessels of fine bright bronze as precious as gold.	27 vingt coupes d’or valant 1 000 pièces perses et deux beaux vases de bronze doré aussi précieux que de l’or.
28 And I said to them, "You are holy to the LORD, and the vessels are holy; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering to the LORD, the God of your fathers.	28 Je leur ai dit: “Vous êtes consacrés au service de Yahvé; ces objets sont sacrés; cet argent et cet or ont été donnés pour Yahvé, le Dieu de vos pères.
29 Guard them and keep them until you weigh them before the chief priests and the Levites and the heads of fathers' houses in Israel at Jerusalem, within the chambers of the house of the LORD."	29 Faites donc attention et gardez-les jusqu’au jour où vous pourrez les peser devant les chefs des prêtres et des lévites et devant les chefs des familles d’Israël dans les salles du Temple de Yahvé à Jérusalem.”
30 So the priests and the Levites took over the weight of the silver and the gold and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem, to the house of our God.	30 Alors les prêtres et les lévites se chargèrent de cet argent, de cet or et de tous ces objets que l’on avait pesés pour les emporter au Temple de notre Dieu, à Jérusalem.
31 Then we departed from the river Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go to Jerusalem; the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and from ambushes by the way.	31 Nous avons quitté la rivière Ahava le 12 du premier mois, pour nous rendre à Jérusalem; la main de notre Dieu était avec nous et il nous a protégés tout au long de la route des attaques des ennemis et des pillards.
32 We came to Jerusalem, and there we remained three days.	32 Arrivés à Jérusalem, nous avons pris trois jours de repos.
33 On the fourth day, within the house of our God, the silver and the gold and the vessels were weighed into the hands of Meremoth the priest, son of Uriah, and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas, and with them were the Levites, Jozabad the son of Jeshua and No-adiah the son of Binnui.	33 Le quatrième jour, on a pesé l’or, l’argent et les objets dans le Temple de notre Dieu; on les a remis entre les mains du prêtre Mérémot fils Ouriyas. Éléazar fils de Pinhas était là ainsi que les lévites Yozabad fils de Josué, et Noadyas fils de Binnouï.
34 The whole was counted and weighed, and the weight of everything was recorded.	34 Tout était là en nombre et en poids, et on enregistra le poids total.
35 At that time those who had come from captivity, the returned exiles, offered burnt offerings to the God of Israel, twelve bulls for all Israel, ninety-six rams, seventy-seven lambs, and as a sin offering twelve he-goats; all this was a burnt offering to the LORD.	35 Ceux qui revenaient de la captivité après leur exil offrirent des holocaustes au Dieu d’Israël: 12 taureaux pour tout Israël, 96 béliers, 72 agneaux et 12 boucs pour le péché; on offrit tout en holocauste à Yahvé.
36 They also delivered the king's commissions to the king's satraps and to the governors of the province Beyond the River; and they aided the people and the house of God.	36 On remit les ordonnances du roi aux gouverneurs et aux chefs de la province d’au-delà de l’Euphrate: ils apportèrent leur aide au peuple et au Temple de Dieu.
