1 Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions, having a very great retinue and camels bearing spices and very much gold and precious stones. When she came to Solomon, she told him all that was on her mind.	1 La regina di Saba, sentita la fama di Salomone, venne a Gerusalemme per metterlo alla prova mediante enigmi. Arrivò con un corteo molto numeroso e con cammelli carichi di aromi, d'oro in grande quantità e di pietre preziose. Si presentò a Salomone e gli disse quanto aveva in mente.
2 And Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing hidden from Solomon which he could not explain to her.	2 Salomone rispose a tutte le sue domande; nessuna risultò occulta per Salomone tanto da non poterle rispondere.
3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built,	3 La regina di Saba, quando ebbe ammirato la sapienza di Salomone, la reggia che egli aveva costruito,
4 the food of his table, the seating of his officials, and the attendance of his servants, and their clothing, his cupbearers, and their clothing, and his burnt offerings which he offered at the house of the LORD, there was no more spirit in her.	4 i cibi della sua tavola, gli alloggi dei suoi servitori, l'attività dei suoi ministri e le loro divise, i suoi coppieri e le loro vesti, gli olocausti che egli offriva nel tempio, ne rimase incantata.
5 And she said to the king, "The report was true which I heard in my own land of your affairs and of your wisdom,	5 Quindi disse al re: "Era vero, dunque, quanto avevo sentito dire nel mio paese sul tuo conto e sulla tua sapienza.
6 but I did not believe the reports until I came and my own eyes had seen it; and behold, half the greatness of your wisdom was not told me; you surpass the report which I heard.	6 Io non avevo voluto credere a quanto si diceva finché non sono giunta qui e i miei occhi non hanno visto; ebbene non mi era stata riferita neppure una metà della grandezza della tua sapienza; tu superi la fama che avevo sentito su di te.
7 Happy are your wives! Happy are these your servants, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!	7 Beati i tuoi uomini e beati questi tuoi ministri, che stanno sempre alla tua presenza e ascoltano la tua sapienza!
8 Blessed be the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and set you on his throne as king for the LORD your God! Because your God loved Israel and would establish them for ever, he has made you king over them, that you may execute justice and righteousness."	8 Sia benedetto il Signore tuo Dio, che si è compiaciuto di te e ti ha costituito, sul suo trono, re per il Signore Dio tuo. Poiché il tuo Dio ama Israele e intende renderlo stabile per sempre, ti ha costituito suo re perché tu eserciti il diritto e la giustizia".
9 Then she gave the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and a very great quantity of spices, and precious stones: there were no spices such as those which the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.	9 Essa diede al re centoventi talenti d'oro, aromi in gran quantità e pietre preziose. Non ci furono mai tanti aromi come quelli che la regina di Saba diede al re Salomone.
10 Moreover the servants of Huram and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, brought algum wood and precious stones.	10 Gli uomini di Curam e quelli di Salomone, che caricavano oro da Ofir, portarono legno di sandalo e pietre preziose.
11 And the king made of the algum wood steps for the house of the LORD and for the king's house, lyres also and harps for the singers; there never was seen the like of them before in the land of Judah.	11 Con il legno di sandalo il re fece le scale del tempio e della reggia, cetre e arpe per i cantori; strumenti simili non erano mai stati visti nel paese di Giuda.
12 And King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all that she desired, whatever she asked besides what she had brought to the king. So she turned and went back to her own land, with her servants.	12 Il re Salomone diede alla regina di Saba quanto ella aveva mostrato di gradire, oltre l'equivalente di quanto ella aveva portato al re. Ella poi tornò nel suo paese con i suoi uomini.
13 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and sixty-six talents of gold,	13 Il peso dell'oro che affluiva nelle casse di Salomone ogni anno era di seicentosessantasei talenti d'oro,
14 besides that which the traders and merchants brought; and all the kings of Arabia and the governors of the land brought gold and silver to Solomon.	14 senza contare quanto ne proveniva dai trafficanti e dai commercianti; tutti i re dell'Arabia e i governatori del paese portavano a Salomone oro e argento.
15 King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold; six hundred shekels of beaten gold went into each shield.	15 Il re Salomone fece duecento scudi grandi d'oro battuto, per ognuno dei quali adoperò seicento sicli d'oro,
16 And he made three hundred shields of beaten gold; three hundred shekels of gold went into each shield; and the king put them in the House of the Forest of Lebanon.	16 e trecento scudi piccoli d'oro battuto, per ognuno dei quali adoperò trecento sicli d'oro. Il re li pose nel palazzo della foresta del Libano.
17 The king also made a great ivory throne, and overlaid it with pure gold.	17 Il re fece un grande trono d'avorio, che rivestì d'oro puro.
18 The throne had six steps and a footstool of gold, which were attached to the throne, and on each side of the seat were arm rests and two lions standing beside the arm rests,	18 Il trono aveva sei gradini e uno sgabello d'oro connessi fra loro. Ai due lati del sedile c'erano due bracci, vicino ai quali si ergevano due leoni.
19 while twelve lions stood there, one on each end of a step on the six steps. The like of it was never made in any kingdom.	19 Dodici leoni si ergevano, di qua e di là, sui sei gradini; non ne esistevano di simili in nessun regno.
20 All King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and all the vessels of the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold; silver was not considered as anything in the days of Solomon.	20 Tutto il vasellame per bere del re Salomone era d'oro; tutti gli arredi del palazzo della foresta del Libano erano d'oro fino; al tempo di Salomone l'argento non valeva nulla.
21 For the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram; once every three years the ships of Tarshish used to come bringing gold, silver, ivory, apes, and peacocks.	21 Difatti le navi del re andavano a Tarsìs, guidate dai marinai di Curam; ogni tre anni tornavano le navi di Tarsìs cariche d'oro, d'argento, di avorio, di scimmie e di babbuini.
22 Thus King Solomon excelled all the kings of the earth in riches and in wisdom.	22 Il re Salomone superò, per ricchezza e sapienza, tutti i re della terra.
23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon to hear his wisdom, which God had put into his mind.	23 Tutti i re della terra desideravano avvicinare Salomone per ascoltare la sapienza che Dio gli aveva infusa.
24 Every one of them brought his present, articles of silver and of gold, garments, myrrh, spices, horses, and mules, so much year by year.	24 Ognuno di essi gli portava ogni anno il proprio tributo, oggetti d'oro e oggetti d'argento, vesti, armi, aromi, cavalli e muli.
25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.	25 Salomone aveva quattromila stalle per i suoi cavalli e i suoi carri e dodicimila cavalli, distribuiti nelle città dei carri e presso il re in Gerusalemme.
26 And he ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.	26 Egli dominava su tutti i re, dal fiume fino alla regione dei Filistei e fino al confine dell'Egitto.
27 And the king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stone, and cedar as plentiful as the sycamore of the Shephelah.	27 Il re fece sì che in Gerusalemme l'argento fosse comune come i sassi, i cedri numerosi come i sicomòri nella Sefela.
28 And horses were imported for Solomon from Egypt and from all lands.	28 Da Muzri e da tutti i paesi si importavano cavalli per Salomone.
29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, from first to last, are they not written in the history of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer concerning Jeroboam the son of Nebat?	29 Le altre gesta di Salomone, dalle prime alle ultime, sono descritte negli atti del profeta Natan, nella profezia di Achia di Silo e nelle visioni del veggente Iedò riguardo a Geroboamo figlio di Nebàt.
30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.	30 Salomone regnò in Gerusalemme su Israele quarant'anni.
31 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.	31 Salomone si addormentò con i suoi padri; lo seppellirono nella città di Davide. Al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Roboamo.
