2 Chronicles 30

1 Hezekiah sent to all Israel and Judah, and wrote letters also to Ephraim and Manasseh, that they should come to the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, to keep the passover to the LORD the God of Israel.	1 Ezechia inviò messaggeri a tutto Israele e a Giuda e scrisse anche delle lettere ad Efraim e Manasse, perché venissero nel tempio del Signore a Gerusalemme per celebrare la Pasqua in onore del Signore, Dio d'Israele.
2 For the king and his princes and all the assembly in Jerusalem had taken counsel to keep the passover in the second month--	2 Il re, i suoi capi e tutta l'assemblea di Gerusalemme decisero di celebrare la Pasqua nel secondo mese,
3 for they could not keep it in its time because the priests had not sanctified themselves in sufficient number, nor had the people assembled in Jerusalem--	3 perché non avevano potuto celebrarla a suo tempo, dato che i sacerdoti non si erano purificati in numero sufficiente e il popolo non si era radunato in Gerusalemme.
4 and the plan seemed right to the king and all the assembly.	4 La decisione parve giusta al re e a tutta l'assemblea.
5 So they decreed to make a proclamation throughout all Israel, from Beer-sheba to Dan, that the people should come and keep the passover to the LORD the God of Israel, at Jerusalem; for they had not kept it in great numbers as prescribed.	5 Stabilirono perciò di diffondere un bando in tutto Israele, da Bersabea fino a Dan, perché si recassero a celebrare la Pasqua in Gerusalemme in onore di Signore, Dio d'Israele, perché non molti l'avevano celebrata com'era stato prescritto.
6 So couriers went throughout all Israel and Judah with letters from the king and his princes, as the king had commanded, saying, "O people of Israel, return to the LORD, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, that he may turn again to the remnant of you who have escaped from the hand of the kings of Assyria.	6 I messi, muniti di lettere da parte del re e dei suoi capi, percorsero tutto Israele e Giuda proclamando secondo l'ordine del re: "Israeliti, ritornate al Signore, Dio di Abramo, d'Isacco e d'Israele, perché egli ritorni a quanti rimangono tra di voi superstiti dalla mano dei re di Assiria.
7 Do not be like your fathers and your brethren, who were faithless to the LORD God of their fathers, so that he made them a desolation, as you see.	7 Non siate come i vostri padri e i vostri fratelli che furono infedeli al Signore, Dio dei loro padri, e per questo li consegnò alla desolazione, come voi vedete.
8 Do not now be stiff-necked as your fathers were, but yield yourselves to the LORD, and come to his sanctuary, which he has sanctified for ever, and serve the LORD your God, that his fierce anger may turn away from you.	8 Ora non indurite la vostra cervice come i vostri padri; date la mano al Signore, venite nel suo santuario, che egli ha consacrato per sempre e servite al Signore, vostro Dio, perché si allontani da voi il furore della sua ira.
9 For if you return to the LORD, your brethren and your children will find compassion with their captors, and return to this land. For the LORD your God is gracious and merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him."	9 Giacché, se voi fate ritorno al Signore, i vostri fratelli e i vostri figli troveranno misericordia al cospetto di quelli che li hanno deportati e ritorneranno in questo paese, perché il Signore, vostro Dio, è clemente e misericordioso e non distoglierà il suo volto da voi, se voi fate ritorno a lui".
10 So the couriers went from city to city through the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, and as far as Zebulun; but they laughed them to scorn, and mocked them.	10 I messi passarono di città in città nel territorio di Efraim e Manasse fino a Zabulon, ma la gente li canzonava e si faceva beffa di loro.
11 Only a few men of Asher, of Manasseh, and of Zebulun humbled themselves and came to Jerusalem.	11 Tuttavia alcuni uomini di Aser, Manasse e Zabulon si umiliarono recandosi a Gerusalemme.
12 The hand of God was also upon Judah to give them one heart to do what the king and the princes commanded by the word of the LORD.	12 Anche in Giuda si manifestò la potenza del Signore dando loro un cuore solo per eseguire l'ordine del re e dei capi secondo la parola del Signore.
13 And many people came together in Jerusalem to keep the feast of unleavened bread in the second month, a very great assembly.	13 Si riunì a Gerusalemme una grande folla per celebrare la festa degli Azzimi nel secondo mese; l'assemblea era assai numerosa.
14 They set to work and removed the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for burning incense they took away and threw into the Kidron valley.	14 Iniziarono col rimuovere gli altari che si trovavano in Gerusalemme; rimossero anche gli altari dei profumi, che furono gettati nel torrente Cedron.
15 And they killed the passover lamb on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites were put to shame, so that they sanctified themselves, and brought burnt offerings into the house of the LORD.	15 Indi immolarono la Pasqua, il quattordici del secondo mese; i sacerdoti e i leviti, pieni di confusione, si erano purificati e presentarono gli olocausti nel tempio del Signore.
16 They took their accustomed posts according to the law of Moses the man of God; the priests sprinkled the blood which they received from the hand of the Levites.	16 Si misero ai loro posti secondo le loro regole, come fissato nella legge di Mosè, uomo di Dio. I sacerdoti spargevano il sangue, ricevendolo dalle mani dei leviti,
17 For there were many in the assembly who had not sanctified themselves; therefore the Levites had to kill the passover lamb for every one who was not clean, to make it holy to the LORD.	17 perché molti nell'assemblea non si erano purificati e i leviti avevano il compito di immolare gli agnelli pasquali per tutti quelli che non erano puri, per consacrarli al Signore.
18 For a multitude of the people, many of them from Ephraim, Manasseh, Issachar, and Zebulun, had not cleansed themselves, yet they ate the passover otherwise than as prescribed. For Hezekiah had prayed for them, saying, "The good LORD pardon every one	18 Difatti una gran parte della gente di Efraim, Manasse, Issacar e Zabulon non si era purificata, e avevano mangiato la Pasqua senza seguire le prescrizioni. Perciò Ezechia pregò per essi che il Signore, nella sua bontà, perdonasse
19 who sets his heart to seek God, the LORD the God of his fathers, even though not according to the sanctuary's rules of cleanness."	19 quanti avevano disposto il loro cuore a ricercare Dio, cioè il Signore, Dio dei loro padri, anche senza la purità che il santuario esigeva.
20 And the LORD heard Hezekiah, and healed the people.	20 Il Signore ascoltò Ezechia e risparmiò il popolo.
21 And the people of Israel that were present at Jerusalem kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness; and the Levites and the priests praised the LORD day by day, singing with all their might to the LORD.	21 Gl'Israeliti che si trovavano in Gerusalemme celebrarono la festa degli Azzimi durante sette giorni con grande gioia, mentre i leviti e i sacerdoti lodavano ogni giorno il Signore con tutte le loro forze.
22 And Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who showed good skill in the service of the LORD. So the people ate the food of the festival for seven days, sacrificing peace offerings and giving thanks to the LORD the God of their fathers.	22 Ezechia incoraggiò tutti i leviti che avevano dimostrato grande intelligenza nel servizio del Signore; così terminarono la festa di sette giorni offrendo sacrifici pacifici e rendendo grazie al Signore, Dio dei loro padri.
23 Then the whole assembly agreed together to keep the feast for another seven days; so they kept it for another seven days with gladness.	23 Tutta l'assemblea decise di festeggiare ancora altri sette giorni; così passarono ancora sette giorni nella gioia.
24 For Hezekiah king of Judah gave the assembly a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep for offerings, and the princes gave the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep. And the priests sanctified themselves in great numbers.	24 Difatti Ezechia, re di Giuda, aveva offerto all'assemblea mille tori e settemila pecore; anche i capi avevano offerto all'assemblea mille buoi e dodicimila pecore. I sacerdoti si erano purificati in gran numero.
25 The whole assembly of Judah, and the priests and the Levites, and the whole assembly that came out of Israel, and the sojourners who came out of the land of Israel, and the sojourners who dwelt in Judah, rejoiced.	25 Tutta l'assemblea di Giuda, i sacerdoti, i leviti, tutto il gruppo di coloro che erano venuti da Israele, gli stranieri venuti dalla terra d'Israele e quelli che abitavano in Giuda, furono ripieni di gioia.
26 So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem.	26 Vi fu in Gerusalemme una grande letizia, perché dal tempo di Salomone, figlio di Davide, re d'Israele, non era avvenuto nulla di simile in Gerusalemme.
27 Then the priests and the Levites arose and blessed the people, and their voice was heard, and their prayer came to his holy habitation in heaven.	27 I sacerdoti e i leviti si misero a benedire il popolo; si udì la loro voce, e la loro preghiera giunse alla sua santa dimora nel cielo.
