1 But in the seventh year Jehoiada took courage, and entered into a compact with the commanders of hundreds, Azariah the son of Jeroham, Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, Azariah the son of Obed, Ma-aseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri.	1 Al séptimo año, Iehoiadá se armó de valor y reunió a los centuriones: a Azarías, hijo de Ierojam, a Ismael, hijo de Iehojanán, a Azarías, hijo de Obed, a Maaseías, hijo de Adías, y a Elisafat, hijo de Zicrí. Hizo un pacto con ellos,
2 And they went about through Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, and the heads of fathers' houses of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.	2 y recorrieron todo el territorio de Judá congregando a los levitas de todas las ciudades y a los jefes de familia de Israel. Cuando llegaron a Jerusalén,
3 And all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And Jehoiada said to them, "Behold, the king's son! Let him reign, as the LORD spoke concerning the sons of David.	3 toda la asamblea selló una alianza con el rey en la Casa de Dios. Iehoiadá les dijo: «Aquí está el hijo del rey. El debe reinar, como lo dijo el Señor acerca de los descendientes de David.
4 This is the thing that you shall do: of you priests and Levites who come off duty on the sabbath, one third shall be gatekeepers,	4 Ustedes harán lo siguiente: un tercio de ustedes, los sacerdotes y levitas que entran de servicio el día sábado, montarán guardia en las puertas;
5 and one third shall be at the king's house and one third at the Gate of the Foundation; and all the people shall be in the courts of the house of the LORD.	5 otro tercio ocupará la casa del rey, y el otro tercio se quedará en la puerta del Fundamento. Mientras tanto, todo el pueblo permanecerá en los atrios de la Casa del Señor.
6 Let no one enter the house of the LORD except the priests and ministering Levites; they may enter, for they are holy, but all the people shall keep the charge of the LORD.	6 Que nadie entre en la Casa del Señor, fuera de los sacerdotes y levitas que estén de servicio. Ellos podrán entrar, porque están consagrados. Pero todo el pueblo observará las prescripciones del Señor.
7 The Levites shall surround the king, each with his weapons in his hand; and whoever enters the house shall be slain. Be with the king when he comes in, and when he goes out."	7 Los levitas formarán un círculo alrededor del rey, con las armas en la mano. Cualquiera que intente penetrar en el Templo, morirá. Permanezcan junto al rey dondequiera que vaya».
8 The Levites and all Judah did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. They each brought his men, who were to go off duty on the sabbath, with those who were to come on duty on the sabbath; for Jehoiada the priest did not dismiss the divisions.	8 Los levitas y todo Judá ejecutaron exactamente lo que les había ordenado el sacerdote Iehoiadá. Cada uno de ellos tomó a sus hombres –los que entraban de servicio y los que eran relevados el día sábado– porque el sacerdote Iehoiadá no había exceptuado a ninguna de las clases.
9 And Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains the spears and the large and small shields that had been King Davids, which were in the house of God;	9 El sacerdote Iehoiadá entregó a los centuriones las lanzas, los escudos y los broqueles del rey David, que estaban en la Casa de Dios.
10 and he set all the people as a guard for the king, every man with his weapon in his hand, from the south side of the house to the north side of the house, around the altar and the house.	10 Luego apostó a toda la tropa, casa uno con una jabalina en la mano, desde el lado sur hasta el lado norte de la Casa, delante del altar y delante de la Casa, para formar un círculo alrededor del rey.
11 Then he brought out the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony; and they proclaimed him king, and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and they said, "Long live the king."	11 Entonces hicieron salir al hijo del rey, le impusieron la diadema y el Testimonio, lo proclamaron rey, y Iehoiadá y sus hijos lo ungieron, aclamando: «¡Viva el rey!».
12 When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she went into the house of the LORD to the people;	12 Atalía oyó el griterío de la gente que corría y aclamaba al rey, y se dirigió hacia la Casa del Señor, donde estaba el pueblo.
13 and when she looked, there was the king standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the captains and the trumpeters beside the king, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets, and the singers with their musical instruments leading in the celebration. And Athaliah rent her clothes, and cried, "Treason! Treason!"	13 Y al ver al rey de pie sobre el estrado, junto a la entrada, a los jefes y las trompetas junto al rey, a todo el pueblo que estaba de fiesta y tocaba las trompetas, y a los cantores que dirigían las aclamaciones con sus instrumentos musicales, rasgó sus vestiduras y gritó: «¡Traición! ¡Traición!».
14 Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the captains who were set over the army, saying to them, "Bring her out between the ranks; any one who follows her is to be slain with the sword." For the priest said, "Do not slay her in the house of the LORD."	14 Entonces el sacerdote Iehoiadá impartió órdenes a los centuriones encargados de la tropa, diciéndoles: «¡Háganla salir de entre las filas! Si alguien la sigue, que sea pasado al filo de la espada». Porque el sacerdote había dicho: «No la maten la Casa del Señor».
15 So they laid hands on her; and she went into the entrance of the horse gate of the king's house, and they slew her there.	15 La llevaron a empujones, y por la entrada de la puerta de los Caballos legó a la casa del rey; allí la mataron.
16 And Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king that they should be the LORD's people.	16 Iehoiadá selló una alianza entre el Señor, el rey y todo el pueblo, comprometiéndose este a ser el pueblo del Señor.
17 Then all the people went to the house of Baal, and tore it down; his altars and his images they broke in pieces, and they slew Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars.	17 Luego, todo el pueblo se dirigió al templo de Baal, lo derribó y destrozó sus altares y sus imágenes. Y a Matán, el sacerdote de Baal, lo mataron delante de los altares.
18 And Jehoiada posted watchmen for the house of the LORD under the direction of the Levitical priests and the Levites whom David had organized to be in charge of the house of the LORD, to offer burnt offerings to the LORD, as it is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and with singing, according to the order of David.	18 Iehoiadá estableció puestos de guardia en la casa del Señor, a las órdenes de los sacerdotes que David había distribuido en la Casa del Señor, para ofrecer holocaustos al Señor –como está escrito en la Ley de Moisés –con alegría y con cantos, según las prescripciones de David.
19 He stationed the gatekeepers at the gates of the house of the LORD so that no one should enter who was in any way unclean.	19 Puso porteros en las puertas de la Casa del Señor, para que no entrara absolutamente nada impuro.
20 And he took the captains, the nobles, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land; and they brought the king down from the house of the LORD, marching through the upper gate to the king's house. And they set the king upon the royal throne.	20 Después reunió a los centuriones, a los dignatarios, a las autoridades del pueblo y a toda la gente del país; hizo descender a la Casa del Señor al rey, y entraron en la casa del rey por la puerta Alta. Allí hicieron sentar al rey en el trono real.
21 So all the people of the land rejoiced; and the city was quiet, after Athaliah had been slain with the sword.	21 Toda la gente del país se alegró y la ciudad permaneció en calma. A Atalía la habían pasado al filo de la espada.
