1 Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor; and he made a marriage alliance with Ahab.	1 Così Joshafat ebbe ricchezza e gloria in quantità. Egli si imparentò con Akhab
2 After some years he went down to Ahab in Samaria. And Ahab killed an abundance of sheep and oxen for him and for the people who were with him, and induced him to go up against Ramoth-gilead.	2 e dopo qualche anno, discese a Samaria da Akhab. Questi allora uccise un’ingente quantità di bestiame minuto e grosso per lui e la gente del seguito. «Così lo indusse a muovere insieme contro Ramot di Galaad.
3 Ahab king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat king of Judah, "Will you go with me to Ramoth-gilead?" He answered him, "I am as you are, my people as your people. We will be with you in the war."	3 Akhab re di Israele chiese a Joshafat re di Giuda: «Vuoi venire con me a Ramot di Galaad?» L’altro rispose: «Come sono io così anche tu e come il tuo popolo così anche il mio; sarò con te in battaglia».
4 And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, "Inquire first for the word of the LORD."	4 Joshafat però soggiunse al re di Israele: «Consulta Jahvè oggi stesso».
5 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them, "Shall we go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I forbear?" And they said, "Go up; for God will give it into the hand of the king."	5 Allora il re di Israele radunò circa quattrocento profeti e disse loro: «Andrò in battaglia a Ramot di Galaad o rinuncerò?» Quelli risposero: «Muovi pure: Dio infatti la metterà in potere del re!»
6 But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there not here another prophet of the LORD of whom we may inquire?"	6 Joshafat disse allora: «Non c’è qui anche un profeta di Jahvè perché possiamo consultarlo per mezzo suo?»
7 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the LORD, Micaiah the son of Imlah; but I hate him, for he never prophesies good concerning me, but always evil." And Jehoshaphat said, "Let not the king say so."	7 Il re di Israele rispose a Joshafat: «C’è ancora un uomo per mezzo del quale possiamo consultare Jahvè; io però lo odio, perché non mi predice mai nulla di buono ma sempre male. Costui è Michea figlio di Jimla!» Joshafat replicò: «Il re non dica così!»
8 Then the king of Israel summoned an officer and said, "Bring quickly Micaiah the son of Imlah."	8 Allora il re di Israele chiamò un eunuco e gli ordinò: «Chiamami subito Michea figlio di Jimla»:
9 Now the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah were sitting on their thrones, arrayed in their robes; and they were sitting at the threshing floor at the entrance of the gate of Samaria; and all the prophets were prophesying before them.	9 Il re di Israele e Joshafat, re di Giuda, sedevano sul loro trono rivestiti dei loro abiti; essi sedevano sull’aia, all’ingresso della porta di Samaria e tutti quei profeti stavano profetando innanzi a loro.
10 And Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah made for himself horns of iron, and said, "Thus says the LORD, 'With these you shall push the Syrians until they are destroyed.'"	10 Ora Sedecia figlio di Chenaana si era fatto dei corni di ferro e andava dicendo: «Così dice Jahvè: “Con questi tu cozzerai contro Aram finché non lo avrai sterminato!”»
11 And all the prophets prophesied so, and said, "Go up to Ramoth-gilead and triumph; the LORD will give it into the hand of the king."	11 Ugualmente tutti i profeti profetavano: «Muovi pure contro Ramot di Galaad, perché sarai vittorioso e Jahvè la metterà in potere del re!»
12 And the messenger who went to summon Micaiah said to him, "Behold, the words of the prophets with one accord are favorable to the king; let your word be like the word of one of them, and speak favorably."	12 Ora il messaggero, che era andato in cerca di Michea, gli parlò: «Senti: i responsi dei profeti sono come una sola bocca favorevoli al re; sia anche il tuo responso come uno dei loro è annuncia del bene».
13 But Micaiah said, "As the LORD lives, what my God says, that I will speak."	13 Michea però rispose: «Per la vita di Jahvè, io Pproferirò solo ciò che Dio: mi suggerirà».
14 And when he had come to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?" And he answered, "Go up and triumph; they will be given into your hand."	14 Quindi si portò dal re e il re gli chiese: «Michea, andremo in battaglia contro Ramot: di Galaad oppure rinunceremo?» Gli rispose: «Muovete pure, perché sarete vittoriosi e quelli verranno consegnati nelle vostre mani».
15 But the king said to him, "How many times shall I adjure you that you speak to me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"	15 Ma il re gli replicò: «Quante volte devo scongiurarti di non dirmi che la pura verità nel nome di Jahvè?»
16 And he said, "I saw all Israel scattered upon the mountains, as sheep that have no shepherd; and the LORD said, 'These have no master; let each return to his home in peace.'"	16 Quegli disse: «Ho visto tutto Israele disperso sui monti, come pecore senza pastore. E Jahvè ha detto:“Essi non hanno padrone: ciascuno in pace a casa ritorni!”»,
17 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you that he would not prophesy good concerning me, but evil?"	17 Allora il re di Israele fece osservare a Joshafat: «Non ti avevo detto che costui non mi avrebbe predetto del bene ma solo del male?»
18 And Micaiah said, "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD sitting on his throne, and all the host of heaven standing on his right hand and on his left;	18 Il profeta però soggiunse: «Non è vero! Ascoltate la parola di Jahvè: ho visto Jahvè seduto sul trono, mentre tutto l’esercito del cielo stava in piedi, alla destra di lui e alla sinistra.
19 and the LORD said, 'Who will entice Ahab the king of Israel, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said one thing, and another said another.	19 E Jahvè parlò: “Chi vuole sedurre Akhab re di Israele, perché muova contro Ramot di Galaad?”. Uno, rispondendo, diceva in un modo, l’altro in un altro.
20 Then a spirit came forward and stood before the LORD, saying, 'I will entice him.' And the LORD said to him, 'By what means?'	20 Finalmente uscì lo spirito il quale, ritto al cospetto di Jahvè, parlò: “Io lo voglio sedurre!”. Jahvè gli domandò: “Come farai?”.
21 And he said, 'I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.' And he said, 'You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go forth and do so.'	21 Quegli rispose: “Io partirò e diventerò uno spirito menzognero in bocca dei suoi profeti”. Jahvè gli confermò: “Tu lo sedurrai, ne sei anche capace. Parti e agisci in tale modo!”.
22 Now therefore behold, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouth of these your prophets; the LORD has spoken evil concerning you."	22 Ebbene, ecco Jahvè ha posto uno spirito menzognero sulla bocca di questi tuoi profeti, poiché Jahvè ha deciso una sciagura contro di te».
23 Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near and struck Micaiah on the cheek, and said, "Which way did the Spirit of the LORD go from me to speak to you?"	23 Allora Sedecia figlio di Chenaana, si avvicinò e colpì Michea sulla guancia dicendo: «Per quale via dunque lo spirito di Jahvè si è allontanato da me per parlare con te?»
24 And Micaiah said, "Behold, you shall see on that day when you go into an inner chamber to hide yourself."	24 Michea rispose: «Ecco, tu stesso lo sperimenterai in quel giorno, quando passerai di stanza in stanza per nasconderti».
25 And the king of Israel said, "Seize Micaiah, and take him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king's son;	25 Il re di Israele perciò ordinò: «Prendete Michea e conducetelo da Amon capo della città e da Joash figlio del re
26 and say, 'Thus says the king, Put this fellow in prison, and feed him with scant fare of bread and water, until I return in peace.'"	26 e riferite: «“Così dice il re: Mettete costui in prigione e limitategli quanto più è possibile il pane e l’acqua, finché io non ritornerò sano e salvo».
27 And Micaiah said, "If you return in peace, the LORD has not spoken by me." And he said, "Hear, all you peoples!"	27 Michea però soggiunse: «Se veramente tu ritornerai sano e salvo, Jahvè non ha parlato per mezzo mio!»
28 So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat the king of Judah went up to Ramoth-gilead.	28 Il re di Israele e Joshafat re di Giuda mossero dunque contro Ramot di Galaad.
29 And the king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "I will disguise myself and go into battle, but you wear your robes." And the king of Israel disguised himself; and they went into battle.	29 Qui il re di, Israele fece a Joshafat una proposta, di entrare lui stesso ‘in -battaglia travestito. «Tu però» soggiunse «rimani pure vestito dei tuoi abiti». Così il re di Israele si. travestì ed essi entrarono in battaglia.
30 Now the king of Syria had commanded the captains of his chariots, "Fight with neither small nor great, but only with the king of Israel."	30 Ora il re di Aram avéva dato ai capi dei suoi carri questo ordine: «Non combattete contro alcuno, né contro il piccolo né contro il grande ma solo contro il re di Israele».
31 And when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, "It is the king of Israel." So they turned to fight against him; and Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him,	31 Appena pertanto i capi dei carri scorsero Joshafat esclamarono: «È il re di Israele!» e lo circondarono per investirlo; ma Joshafat lanciò un grido. Jahvè gli venne allora in soccorso e Dio li allontanò da lui.
32 for when the captains of the chariots saw that it was not the king of Israel, they turned back from pursuing him.	32 Accortisi perciò i capi dei carri che quegli non era il re di Israele, desistettero dall’inseguirlo.
33 But a certain man drew his bow at a venture, and struck the king of Israel between the scale armor and the breastplate; therefore he said to the driver of his chariot, "Turn about, and carry me out of the battle, for I am wounded."	33 Ma un uomo, scoccata a caso una freccia dall’arco, colpì il re di Israele tra le maglie dell’armatura e la corazza. Allora questi ordinò all’auriga: «Gira con le mani e portami fuori della mischia, perché sto male».
34 And the battle grew hot that day, and the king of Israel propped himself up in his chariot facing the Syrians until evening; then at sunset he died.	34 La battaglia infuriò tutto quel giorno e il re di Israele stette in piedi, ritto sul carro, di fronte ad Aram, fino alla sera. Morì al tramonto del sole.
