1 David built houses for himself in the city of David; and he prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched a tent for it.	1 Le roi se bâtit aussi des maisons dans la cité de David, et il prépara un lieu pour l'arche du Seigneur, et lui dressa un tabernacle.
2 Then David said, "No one but the Levites may carry the ark of God, for the LORD chose them to carry the ark of the LORD and to minister to him for ever."	2 Il dit ensuite : Il n'est permis à personne de porter l'arche de Dieu, sinon aux lévites que le Seigneur a choisis pour la porter, et pour les rendre Ses ministres à jamais.
3 And David assembled all Israel at Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the LORD to its place, which he had prepared for it.	3 Et il assembla tout Israël à Jérusalem, afin de faire apporter l'arche de Dieu au lieu qu'il lui avait préparé.
4 And David gathered together the sons of Aaron and the Levites:	4 Il fit aussi venir les enfants d'Aaron et les lévites.
5 of the sons of Kohath, Uriel the chief, with a hundred and twenty of his brethren;	5 Des fils de Caath : Uriel, le chef, et vingt de ses frères.
6 of the sons of Merari, Asaiah the chief, with two hundred and twenty of his brethren;	6 Des fils de Mérari : Araïa, le chef, et deux cent vingt de ses frères.
7 of the sons of Gershom, Joel the chief, with a hundred and thirty of his brethren;	7 Des fils de Gerson : Joël, le chef, et cent trente de ses frères.
8 of the sons of Eli-zaphan, Shemaiah the chief, with two hundred of his brethren;	8 Des fils d'Elisaphan : Séméias, le chef, et deux cents de ses frères.
9 of the sons of Hebron, Eliel the chief, with eighty of his brethren;	9 Des fils d'Hébron : Eliel, le chef, et quatre-vingts de ses frères.
10 of the sons of Uzziel, Amminadab the chief, with a hundred and twelve of his brethren.	10 Des fils d'Oziel : Aminadab, le chef, et cent douze de ses frères.
11 Then David summoned the priests Zadok and Abiathar, and the Levites Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab,	11 David appela les prêtres Sadoc et Abiathar, et les lévites Uriel, Asaïa, Joël, Séméias, Eliel, et Aminadab;
12 and said to them, "You are the heads of the fathers' houses of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, so that you may bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel, to the place that I have prepared for it.	12 et il leur dit : Vous qui êtes les chefs des familles de Lévi, purifiez-vous avec vos frères, et portez l'arche du Seigneur Dieu d'Israël au lieu qui lui a été préparé;
13 Because you did not carry it the first time, the LORD our God broke forth upon us, because we did not care for it in the way that is ordained."	13 de peur que, comme le Seigneur nous a frappés autrefois, parce que vous n'étiez pas présents, il ne nous arrive un même malheur, si nous faisons quelque chose de contraire à Ses lois.
14 So the priests and the Levites sanctified themselves to bring up the ark of the LORD, the God of Israel.	14 Les prêtres et les lévites se purifièrent donc, afin de porter l'arche du Seigneur Dieu d'Israël.
15 And the Levites carried the ark of God upon their shoulders with the poles, as Moses had commanded according to the word of the LORD.	15 Et les fils de Lévi prirent l'arche de Dieu sur leurs épaules avec des bâtons, selon l'ordre que Moïse en avait donné, après l'avoir reçu du Seigneur.
16 David also commanded the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brethren as the singers who should play loudly on musical instruments, on harps and lyres and cymbals, to raise sounds of joy.	16 David dit aussi aux chefs des lévites d'établir quelques-uns de leurs frères comme chantres, avec des instruments de musique, des guitares, des lyres, des cymbales, afin de faire retentir bien haut le bruit de leur joie.
17 So the Levites appointed Heman the son of Joel; and of his brethren Asaph the son of Berechiah; and of the sons of Merari, their brethren, Ethan the son of Kushaiah;	17 Ils choisirent donc plusieurs lévites : Héman, fils de Joël, et parmi ses frères, Asaph, fils de Barachias; d'entre les fils de Mérari, leurs frères, Ethan, fils de Casaïa,
18 and with them their brethren of the second order, Zechariah, Ja-aziel, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Benaiah, Ma-aseiah, Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, and Mikneiah, and the gatekeepers Obed-edom and Je-iel.	18 et leurs frères avec eux; et au second rang, Zacharie, Ben, Jaziel, Sémiramoth, Jahiel, Ani, Eliab, Banaïas, Maasias, Mathathias, Eliphalu, Macénias, Obédédom et Jéhiel, qui étaient portiers.
19 The singers, Heman, Asaph, and Ethan, were to sound bronze cymbals;	19 Or les chantres, Héman, Asaph et Ethan, jouaient des cymbales d'airain.
20 Zechariah, Azi-el, Shemiramoth, Jehiel, Unni, Eliab, Ma-aseiah, and Benaiah were to play harps according to Alamoth;	20 Zacharie, Oziel, Sémiramoth, Jahiel, Ani, Eliab, Maasias et Banaïas chantaient avec des guitares des airs sacrés et mystérieux.
21 but Mattithiah, Eliphelehu, Mikneiah, Obed-edom, Je-iel, and Azaziah were to lead with lyres according to the Sheminith.	21 Mathathias, Eliphalu, Macénias, Obédédom, Jéhiel et Ozaziu chantaient des chants de victoire sur des harpes à huit cordes.
22 Chenaniah, leader of the Levites in music, should direct the music, for he understood it.	22 Chonénias, chef des lévites, présidait à cette musique, pour commencer le premier la symphonie, car il était très habile.
23 Berechiah and Elkanah were to be gatekeepers for the ark.	23 Barachias et Elcana étaient portiers de l'arche.
24 Shebaniah, Joshaphat, Nethanel, Amasai, Zechariah, Benaiah, and Eliezer, the priests, should blow the trumpets before the ark of God. Obed-edom and Jehiah also were to be gatekeepers for the ark.	24 Les prêtres Sébénias, Josaphat, Nathanaël, Amasaï, Zacharie, Banaïas et Eliézer sonnaient des trompettes devant l'arche de Dieu; Obédédom et Jéhias étaient portiers de l'arche.
25 So David and the elders of Israel, and the commanders of thousands, went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-edom with rejoicing.	25 Ainsi David, et tous les anciens d'Israël, et les tribuns allèrent pour transporter l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur de la maison d'Obédédom, avec des transports de joie.
26 And because God helped the Levites who were carrying the ark of the covenant of the LORD, they sacrificed seven bulls and seven rams.	26 Et comme on vit que Dieu avait assisté les lévites qui portaient l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur, on immola sept taureaux et sept béliers.
27 David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as also were all the Levites who were carrying the ark, and the singers, and Chenaniah the leader of the music of the singers; and David wore a linen ephod.	27 Or David était revêtu d'une robe de fin lin, ainsi que tous les lévites qui portaient l'arche, et les chantres, et Chonénias qui était le maître de la musique et du choeur des chantres; mais David avait de plus un éphod de fin lin.
28 So all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the LORD with shouting, to the sound of the horn, trumpets, and cymbals, and made loud music on harps and lyres.	28 Et tout Israël conduisait l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur avec des acclamations, au son des clairons, des trompettes, des cymbales, des guitares et des harpes.
29 And as the ark of the covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window, and saw King David dancing and making merry; and she despised him in her heart.	29 Et lorsque l'arche de l'alliance du Seigneur arriva près de la cité de David, Michol, fille de Saül, regardant par la fenêtre, vit le roi David qui sautait et qui dansait, et elle le méprisa dans son coeur.
