Chronicles 10

Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition La Biblia
Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled before the Philistines, and fell slain on Mount Gilboa.1 Los filisteos contendieron con Israel.
And the Philistines overtook Saul and his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan and Abinadab and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.2 Los filisteos cercaron a Saúl y a sus hijos, y mataron a Jonatán, Abinadad y Malquisúa, hijos de Saúl.
The battle pressed hard upon Saul, and the archers found him; and he was wounded by the archers.3 El peso del combate cayó sobre Saúl; los arqueros dieron con él y lo hirieron a flechazos.
Then Saul said to his armor-bearer, "Draw your sword, and thrust me through with it, lest these uncircumcised come and make sport of me." But his armor-bearer would not; for he feared greatly.
And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell upon his sword, and died.5 Al ver el escudero que Saúl había muerto, también él se echó sobre la espada y murió.
Thus Saul died; he and his three sons and all his house died together.6 Así murieron Saúl, sus tres hijos y toda su casa junto con él.
And when all the men of Israel who were in the valley saw that the army had fled and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook their cities and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.7 Cuando los israelitas del valle vieron que su ejército huía y que Saúl y sus hijos habían muerto, huyeron abandonando los poblados.
On the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, they found Saul and his sons fallen on Mount Gilboa.8 Al día siguiente, cuando fueron los filisteos a despojar los cadáveres, encontraron a Saúl y a sus hijos muertos en el monte Gelboé.
And they stripped him and took his head and his armor, and sent messengers throughout the land of the Philistines, to carry the good news to their idols and to the people.9 Lo despojaron, se llevaron su cabeza y sus armas, y mandaron anunciar la buena nueva por todo el contorno filisteo, a sus ídolos y al pueblo.
And they put his armor in the temple of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon.10 Colocaron sus armas en el templo de su dios y clavaron su cabeza en el templo de Dagón.
But when all Jabesh-gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,11 Cuando los habitantes de Yebés de Galaad se enteraron de lo que los filisteos habían hecho con Saúl,
all the valiant men arose, and took away the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh.
So Saul died for his unfaithfulness; he was unfaithful to the LORD in that he did not keep the command of the LORD, and also consulted a medium, seeking guidance,13 Saúl murió por haber sido infiel al Señor, por no guardar su palabra, pues llegó a interrogar y a consultar a una adivina,
and did not seek guidance from the LORD. Therefore the LORD slew him, and turned the kingdom over to David the son of Jesse.14 en vez de consultar al Señor.
