1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hephzibah.	1 - Manasse aveva dodici anni, quando cominciò a regnare, e ne regnò in Gerusalemme cinquantacinque. Il nome della sua madre fu Afsiba.
2 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominable practices of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel.	2 Egli si diportò male al cospetto del Signore, abbandonandosi all'idolatria delle genti, che il Signore aveva sterminato dinanzi ai figli d'Israele.
3 For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he erected altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel had done, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served them.	3 Tornò a riedificare gli alti luoghi, che erano stati abbattuti da Ezechia, suo padre, eresse altari a Baal, fece boschetti sacri, come aveva fatto Acab, re d'Israele, e adorò tutta la milizia dei cieli e la servì.
4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, "In Jerusalem will I put my name."	4 Costrusse anche altari nella casa del Signore, riguardo alla quale il Signore aveva detto: «Porrò il mio nome in Gerusalemme».
5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.	5 Fabbricò ancora altari a tutta la milizia del cielo nei due atrii del tempio del Signore;
6 And he burned his son as an offering, and practiced soothsaying and augury, and dealt with mediums and with wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger.	6 fece passare suo figlio attraverso il fuoco, si diede alle stregonerie, osservò gli auguri, istituì dei maghi, moltiplicò gli aruspici, tanto per fare male al cospetto del Signore ed irritarlo.
7 And the graven image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name for ever;	7 Pose ancora l'idolo del bosco sacro, che egli aveva fatto, nel tempio del Signore, del quale il Signore parlò a Davide e al figliuol suo Salomone dicendo: «In questo tempio ed in Gerusalemme, che mi sono eletto tra tutte le tribù d'Israele, porrò il mio nome per sempre;
8 and I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave to their fathers, if only they will be careful to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them."	8 io non permetterò più che il piede d'Israele sia smosso dalla terra data ai loro padri, purchè essi custodiscano tutto ciò che io ho loro comandato e tutta la legge che impose loro il mio servo Mosè».
9 But they did not listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations had done whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel.	9 Essi però non diedero ascolto e sedotti da Manasse fecero più male delle genti, che il Signore aveva sterminato dinanzi ai figli di Israele.
10 And the LORD said by his servants the prophets,	10 Il Signore parlò allora per mezzo de' suoi servi, i profeti, in questi termini:
11 "Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, and has done things more wicked than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols;	11 «Poichè Manasse, re di Giuda, ha commesso queste gravi abominazioni e ha fatto peggio di quanto fecero gli Amorrei prima di lui, e colle sue iniquità ha indotto al peccato anche Giuda;
12 therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such evil that the ears of every one who hears of it will tingle.	12 perciò così dice il Signore Dio d'Israele: - Ecco io farò venire sopra Gerusalemme e sopra Giuda tante sventure, che chiunque ne udrà parlare ne avrà intronate ambedue le orecchie;
13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.	13 e sopra Gerusalemme stenderò l'eredità toccata a Samaria e le applicherò la sentenza della casa di Acab, e distruggerò Gerusalemme, come si sogliono cancellare le tavolette; e cancellandola volgerò e rivolgerò frequentemente lo stilo, sopra la faccia sua.
14 And I will cast off the remnant of my heritage, and give them into the hand of their enemies, and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies,	14 Abbandonerò così quel che resta della mia eredità e li abbandonerò nelle mani dei loro nemici e diverranno la devastazione e la preda di tutti i loro avversari,
15 because they have done what is evil in my sight and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day."	15 poichè han fatto il male al mio cospetto, e hanno perseverato a irritarmi dal giorno in cui uscirono i loro padri dall'Egitto fino al presente -».
16 Moreover Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides the sin which he made Judah to sin so that they did what was evil in the sight of the LORD.	16 Di più Manasse versò altresì moltissimo sangue innocente, fino a riempirne Gerusalemme da un capo all'altro; e ciò oltre ai peccati suoi, per i quali fece che Giuda avesse a prevaricare e commettere ogni sorta di male al cospetto del Signore.
17 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and the sin that he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?	17 Il resto delle azioni di Manasse, tutto ciò che egli fece e i peccati che commise, non sono stati forse scritti nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?
18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his stead.	18 Dormì Manasse coi padri suoi e fu sepolto nell'orto di sua casa, nell'orto di Oza, e Amon suo figlio regnò in sua vece.
19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.	19 Amon aveva ventidue anni quando cominciò a regnare e ne regnò due in Gerusalemme. Il nome di sua madre era Messalemet figliuola di Arus di Jeteba.
20 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father had done.	20 Fece male al cospetto del Signore, come l'aveva fatto Manasse, suo padre,
21 He walked in all the way in which his father walked, and served the idols that his father served, and worshiped them;	21 e camminò per le vie, per le quali suo padre aveva camminato; venerò gli idoli, che furono da suo padre venerati e li adorò.
22 he forsook the LORD, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the LORD.	22 Abbandonò il Signore Dio de' suoi padri e non camminò nella via del Signore.
23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and killed the king in his house.	23 Perciò i suoi servi gli tesero insidie e uccisero il re nel suo stesso palazzo.
24 But the people of the land slew all those who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.	24 Il popolo del paese però mise a morte tutti quelli che avevan congiurato contro il re Amon e proclamò suo successore Josia, suo figlio.
25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?	25 Il resto delle azioni di Amon, e tutto ciò che fece, non è stato forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?
26 And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza; and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.	26 Fu sepolto nella propria tomba, nell'orto di Oza, e Josia suo figliuolo regnò in sua vece.
