2 Kings 21

1 Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty-five years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Hephzibah.	1 Quando divenne re, Manàsse aveva dodici anni; regnò cinquantacinque anni in Gerusalemme; sua madre si chiamava Chefziba.
2 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to the abominable practices of the nations whom the LORD drove out before the people of Israel.	2 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, imitando gli abomini delle popolazioni sterminate già dal Signore all'arrivo degli Israeliti.
3 For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; and he erected altars for Baal, and made an Asherah, as Ahab king of Israel had done, and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served them.	3 Ricostruì le alture demolite dal padre Ezechia, eresse altari a Baal, innalzò un palo sacro, come l'aveva fatto Acab, re di Israele. Si prostrò davanti a tutta la milizia del cielo e la servì.
4 And he built altars in the house of the LORD, of which the LORD had said, "In Jerusalem will I put my name."	4 Costruì altari nel tempio riguardo al quale il Signore aveva detto: "In Gerusalemme porrò il mio nome".
5 And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.	5 Costruì altari a tutta la milizia del cielo nei due cortili del tempio.
6 And he burned his son as an offering, and practiced soothsaying and augury, and dealt with mediums and with wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger.	6 Fece passare suo figlio per il fuoco, praticò la divinazione e la magìa, istituì i negromanti e gli indovini. Compì in tante maniere ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, da provocare il suo sdegno.
7 And the graven image of Asherah that he had made he set in the house of which the LORD said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my name for ever;	7 Collocò l'immagine di Asera, da lui fatta fare, nel tempio, riguardo al quale il Signore aveva detto a Davide e al figlio Salomone: "In questo tempio e in Gerusalemme, che mi sono scelta fra tutte le tribù di Israele, porrò il mio nome per sempre.
8 and I will not cause the feet of Israel to wander any more out of the land which I gave to their fathers, if only they will be careful to do according to all that I have commanded them, and according to all the law that my servant Moses commanded them."	8 Non sopporterò più che il piede degli Israeliti vada errando lontano dal paese che io ho dato ai loro padri, purché procurino di eseguire quanto ho comandato loro e tutta la legge, che ha imposto loro il mio servo Mosè".
9 But they did not listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations had done whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel.	9 Ma essi non ascoltarono. Manàsse li spinse ad agire peggio delle popolazioni sterminate dal Signore alla venuta degli Israeliti.
10 And the LORD said by his servants the prophets,	10 Allora il Signore disse per mezzo dei suoi servi i profeti:
11 "Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, and has done things more wicked than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols;	11 "Poiché Manàsse re di Giuda ha compiuto tali abomini, peggiori di tutti quelli commessi dagli Amorrei prima di lui, e ha indotto a peccare anche Giuda per mezzo dei suoi idoli,
12 therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such evil that the ears of every one who hears of it will tingle.	12 per questo dice il Signore Dio di Israele: Eccomi, mando su Gerusalemme e su Giuda una tale sventura da far rintronare gli orecchi di chi l'udrà.
13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the measuring line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab; and I will wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish, wiping it and turning it upside down.	13 Stenderò su Gerusalemme la cordicella di Samaria e il piombino della casa di Acab; asciugherò Gerusalemme come si asciuga un piatto, che si asciuga e si rovescia.
14 And I will cast off the remnant of my heritage, and give them into the hand of their enemies, and they shall become a prey and a spoil to all their enemies,	14 Rigetterò il resto della mia eredità; li metterò nelle mani dei loro nemici; diventeranno preda e bottino di tutti i loro nemici,
15 because they have done what is evil in my sight and have provoked me to anger, since the day their fathers came out of Egypt, even to this day."	15 perché hanno fatto ciò che è male ai miei occhi e mi hanno provocato a sdegno da quando i loro padri uscirono dall'Egitto fino ad oggi".
16 Moreover Manasseh shed very much innocent blood, till he had filled Jerusalem from one end to another, besides the sin which he made Judah to sin so that they did what was evil in the sight of the LORD.	16 Manàsse versò anche sangue innocente in grande quantità fino a riempirne Gerusalemme da un'estremità all'altra, oltre i peccati che aveva fatto commettere a Giuda, facendo ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore.
17 Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and all that he did, and the sin that he committed, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?	17 Le altre gesta di Manàsse, tutte le sue azioni e le colpe commesse, sono descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda.
18 And Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the garden of his house, in the garden of Uzza; and Amon his son reigned in his stead.	18 Manàsse si addormentò con i suoi padri; fu sepolto nel giardino di casa sua, nel giardino di Uzza. Al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Amon.
19 Amon was twenty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned two years in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Meshullemeth the daughter of Haruz of Jotbah.	19 Quando divenne re, Amon aveva ventidue anni; regnò due anni in Gerusalemme. Sua madre, di Iotba, si chiamava Meshullemet figlia di Caruz.
20 And he did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, as Manasseh his father had done.	20 Fece ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, come l'aveva fatto il padre Manàsse.
21 He walked in all the way in which his father walked, and served the idols that his father served, and worshiped them;	21 Camminò su tutte le strade su cui aveva camminato il padre e servì gli idoli che suo padre aveva servito e si prostrò davanti ad essi.
22 he forsook the LORD, the God of his fathers, and did not walk in the way of the LORD.	22 Abbandonò il Signore, Dio dei suoi padri, e non seguì la via del Signore.
23 And the servants of Amon conspired against him, and killed the king in his house.	23 Contro Amon congiurarono i suoi ufficiali, che uccisero il re nel suo palazzo.
24 But the people of the land slew all those who had conspired against King Amon, and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.	24 Ma il popolo del paese uccise quanti avevano congiurato contro il re Amon. Il medesimo popolo proclamò re al suo posto il figlio Giosia.
25 Now the rest of the acts of Amon which he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?	25 Le altre gesta di Amon, le sue azioni, sono descritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda.
26 And he was buried in his tomb in the garden of Uzza; and Josiah his son reigned in his stead.	26 Lo seppellirono nel suo sepolcro, nel giardino di Uzza. Al suo posto divenne re suo figlio Giosia.
