1 Now King David was old and advanced in years, and although they covered him with clothes, he could not get warm.	1 E re David era invecchiato, e avea etade di molti giorni; e coprendosi di vestimenta, non si riscaldava.
2 Therefore his servants said to him, "Let a young maiden be sought for my lord the king, and let her wait upon the king, and be his nurse; let her lie in your bosom, that my lord the king may be warm."	2 Onde dissero i servi suoi: troviamo al nostro signore una giovane vergine (bella), la quale istia nel suo cospetto, e governilo, e istia nel suo seno, e dorma, e riscaldi il nostro signore.
3 So they sought for a beautiful maiden throughout all the territory of Israel, and found Abishag the Shunammite, and brought her to the king.	3 E cercarono per una giovane bella in tutte le terre d' Israel; e trovarono Abisag Sunamite, menaronla al re.
4 The maiden was very beautiful; and she became the king's nurse and ministered to him; but the king knew her not.	4 Ed era la fanciulla troppo bella, e dormia con esso il re, e servialo; e il re non ebbe a fare con lei.
5 Now Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, "I will be king"; and he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen, and fifty men to run before him.	5 E Adonia, figliuolo di Aggit, si esaltava e diceva io regnerò. E fece a sè uno carro e cavalieri, e cinquanta uomini che li andassero innanzi.
6 His father had never at any time displeased him by asking, "Why have you done thus and so?" He was also a very handsome man; and he was born next after Absalom.	6 E il suo padre niuna otta lo riprese dicendo: perchè fai tu così? Ed era egli bello molto, il secondo nato dopo Assalom.
7 He conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest; and they followed Adonijah and helped him.	7 E il suo secreto era con Ioab figliuolo di Sarvia, e Abiatar sacerdote, li quali atavano la parte d' Adonia.
8 But Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and Nathan the prophet, and Shime-i, and Rei, and David's mighty men were not with Adonijah.	8 E Sadoc sacerdote e Banaia figliuolo di Ioiada, e Natan profeta, e Semei [e Rei] (e Chereti e Feleti e quelli ch' erano alla guardia della persona del re) e tutta la fortezza dello esercito di David non era con Adonia.
9 Adonijah sacrificed sheep, oxen, and fatlings by the Serpent's Stone, which is beside En-rogel, and he invited all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the royal officials of Judah,	9 E Adonia, sacrificati i montoni e i vitelli e tutte cose grasse, appresso alla pietra Zoelet la quale era vicina alla fonte di Rogel, chiamò tutti i suoi fratelli figliuoli del re, e tutti gli uomini di Giuda servi del re.
10 but he did not invite Nathan the prophet or Benaiah or the mighty men or Solomon his brother.	10 Ma Natan profeta e Banaia e gli altri forti e Salomone suo fratello non chiamò.
11 Then Nathan said to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, "Have you not heard that Adonijah the son of Haggith has become king and David our lord does not know it?	11 E disse Natan a Bersebee madre di Salomone: non hai tu udito che Adonia figliuolo di Aggit regna, e il nostro signore re nol sa?
12 Now therefore come, let me give you counsel, that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.	12 Or vieni, e tuogli il mio consiglio, e salva l'anima tua e del tuo figliuolo Salomone.
13 Go in at once to King David, and say to him, 'Did you not, my lord the king, swear to your maidservant, saying, "Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne"? Why then is Adonijah king?'	13 Va, ed entra al re, e digli: signore mio re, non giurasti a me serva tua, dicendo: Salomone tuo figliuolo regnerà dopo me, ed egli sederà nella mia sedia? perchè dunque regna Adonia?
14 Then while you are still speaking with the king, I also will come in after you and confirm your words."	14 E favellando ancora te ivi con esso il re, e io entrerò dopo te, e compirò le tue parole.
15 So Bathsheba went to the king into his chamber (now the king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was ministering to the king).	15 E entrò Bersebee al re nella camera; e il re era invecchiato troppo, e Abisag Sunamite gli ministrava.
16 Bathsheba bowed and did obeisance to the king, and the king said, "What do you desire?"	16 E inchinossi Bersabee e adorò; e il re disse a lei che vuogli tu?
17 She said to him, "My lord, you swore to your maidservant by the LORD your God, saying, 'Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne.'	17 La quale respondendo disse: signore mio, tu giurasti per lo tuo Signore Iddio alla tua ancilla, dicendo: Salomone tuo figliuolo, regnerà dopo me, ed egli sederà nella mia sedia.
18 And now, behold, Adonijah is king, although you, my lord the king, do not know it.	18 Ed ecco che Adonia regna; e tu, Signore mio, no'il sai.
19 He has sacrificed oxen, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the sons of the king, Abiathar the priest, and Joab the commander of the army; but Solomon your servant he has not invited.	19 Egli hae uccisi buoi e tutte cose grasse e molti montoni, e ha chiamati tutti i figliuoli del re, e Abiatar sacerdote e Ioab principe della milizia; Salomone tuo servo non ha chiamato.
20 And now, my lord the king, the eyes of all Israel are upon you, to tell them who shall sit on the throne of my lord the king after him.	20 E in te, signore mio, guardano tutti gli occhii d' Israel, che tu mostri loro chi debba sedere, signore mio re, dopo te nella tua sedia.
21 Otherwise it will come to pass, when my lord the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be counted offenders."	21 E quando il mio signore dormirà colli padri suoi, saremo Salomone e io peccatori.
22 While she was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.	22 E tuttavia favellando ella col re, vennegli Natan profeta.
23 And they told the king, "Here is Nathan the prophet." And when he came in before the king, he bowed before the king, with his face to the ground.	23 E fu significatò al re, e dissero: Natan profeta ci è. Ed entrato lui, e istando nel cospetto del re, e adoratolo tutto chinato in terra,
24 And Nathan said, "My lord the king, have you said, 'Adonijah shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne?	24 disse Natan: signore mio re, hai tu detto: Adonia, che regni dopo me, ed egli segga nella mia sedia?
25 For he has gone down this day, and has sacrificed oxen, fatlings, and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons, Joab the commander of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and behold, they are eating and drinking before him, and saying, 'Long live King Adonijah!'	25 È andato oggi, e ha sacrificato buoi e cose grasse e montoni molti; e tutti i figliuoli del re e principi dello esercito egli ha chiamati, e Abiatar sacerdote; e mangiando loro, e bevendo dinanzi a lui, e dicendo: viva Adonia re,
26 But me, your servant, and Zadok the priest, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon, he has not invited.	26 me tuo servo, e Sadoc sacerdote, e Banaia figliuolo di Ioiada, e Salomone tuo servo non ha chiamato.
27 Has this thing been brought about by my lord the king and you have not told your servants who should sit on the throne of my lord the king after him?"	27 Saria forse dal mio signore re uscita questa parola, e a me tuo servo non l'hai significato, chi dovesse sedere sopra la sedia del mio signore dopo lui?
28 Then King David answered, "Call Bathsheba to me." So she came into the king's presence, and stood before the king.	28 E respuose il re David, dicendo: chiamatemi Bersabee. La quale (chiamata e) entrata dinanzi al re, e istando dinanzi a lui,
29 And the king swore, saying, "As the LORD lives, who has redeemed my soul out of every adversity,	29 giurò il re, e disse: vive il Signore, il quale liberò l'anima mia da ogni angustia,
30 as I swore to you by the LORD, the God of Israel, saying, 'Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit upon my throne in my stead'; even so will I do this day."	30 che secondo ch' io ti giurai per lo Signore Iddio d'Israel, dicendo: Salomone tuo figliuolo regnerà dopo me, ed egli sederà nella mia sedia per me, così farò oggi.
31 Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground, and did obeisance to the king, and said, "May my lord King David live for ever!"	31 E abbassato Bersebee il viso in terra, adorò e disse: viva il signore re [David] in eterno.
32 King David said, "Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada." So they came before the king.	32 E disse il re David: chiamatemi Sadoc sacerdote, e Natan profeta, e Banaia figliuolo di Ioiada. Li quali entrati dinanzi al re,
33 And the king said to them, "Take with you the servants of your lord, and cause Solomon my son to ride on my own mule, and bring him down to Gihon;	33 disse a loro: togliete con esso voi i servi del vostro signore, e ponete Salomone mio figliuolo sopra la mula mia, e menatelo in Gion.
34 and let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet there anoint him king over Israel; then blow the trumpet, and say, 'Long live King Solomon!'	34 E ivi l' ungeranno Sadoc sacerdote, e Natan profeta, re sopra Israel e Giuda; e sonerete la tromba, e direte: viva il re Salamone!
35 You shall then come up after him, and he shall come and sit upon my throne; for he shall be king in my stead; and I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and over Judah."	35 E ascenderete dopo lui, e verrete, e sederà sopra la sedia [mia], ed egli regnerà per me; e io gli comanderò che sia duca sopra Israel e Giuda.
36 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada answered the king, "Amen! May the LORD, the God of my lord the king, say so.	36 E Banaia figliuolo di Ioiada respuose al re, e disse: amen, così dica il Signore Iddio del signore mio re.
37 As the LORD has been with my lord the king, even so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my lord King David."	37 Sì come fu Iddio col mio signore, così sia con Salomone, e sia fatta la sua sedia più alta che quella del mio signore re David.
38 So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, went down and caused Solomon to ride on King David's mule, and brought him to Gihon.	38 E discenderono Sadoc sacerdote, e Natan profeta, e Banaia figliuolo di Ioiada, e Cereti e Feleti (e' cavalieri ch' erano alla guardia di David); e puosero Salomone sopra la mula del re, e portaronlo in Gion.
39 There Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tent, and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the trumpet; and all the people said, "Long live King Solomon!"	39 E Sadoc sacerdote tolse dal tabernacolo il corno dell' olio, e unse Salomone; e sonarono le trombe; e disse tutto il popolo: viva il re Salomone.
40 And all the people went up after him, playing on pipes, and rejoicing with great joy, so that the earth was split by their noise.	40 E la moltitudine andò dopo lui, e il popolo di quelli che cantavano con diversi stromenti e allegravansi di grande allegrezza, e la terra risonò della voce loro.
41 Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they finished feasting. And when Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, "What does this uproar in the city mean?"	41 E Adonia udio (questi) con tutti quelli che erano invitati da lui; ed era già compiuto il convito; e Ioab udita la voce della tromba, disse: che vuole significare lo clamor di questa città, che fa sì grande tumulto?
42 While he was still speaking, behold, Jonathan the son of Abiathar the priest came; and Adonijah said, "Come in, for you are a worthy man and bring good news."	42 E parlando egli ancora, ecco venire Ionata figliuolo di Abiatar sacerdote; al quale disse Adonia: entra, però che tu se' uomo, e significhi cose buone.
43 Jonathan answered Adonijah, "No, for our lord King David has made Solomon king;	43 E rispose Ionata ad Adonia: non è così però che il nostro signore re David hae fatto re Salomone.
44 and the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and they have caused him to ride on the king's mule;	44 E mandò con esso lui Sadoc sacerdote, e Natan profeta, e Banaia figliuolo di Ioiada, e Cereti e Feleti, e puoselo sopra la mula del re.
45 and Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at Gihon; and they have gone up from there rejoicing, so that the city is in an uproar. This is the noise that you have heard.	45 E Sadoc sacerdote e Natan profeta l' hanno unto re in Gion; e sono ritornati indi di grande allegrezza, e risuona la città; e questa è la voce che voi udite.
46 Solomon sits upon the royal throne.	46 E Salomone siede sopra la sedia del reame.
47 Moreover the king's servants came to congratulate our lord King David, saying, 'Your God make the name of Solomon more famous than yours, and make his throne greater than your throne.' And the king bowed himself upon the bed.	47 Ed entrati i servi del nostro signore hanno benedetto il re David, dicendo: ispanda Iddio il nome di Salomone sopra il nome tuo, e magnifichi il suo trono sopra il trono tuo. E adorò il re David nel suo letto,
48 And the king also said, 'Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has granted one of my offspring to sit on my throne this day, my own eyes seeing it.'"	48 e anche disse così: benedetto il Signore Iddio d' Israel, il quale ha dato oggi chi siede nella sedia mia, vedendolo gli occhii miei.
49 Then all the guests of Adonijah trembled, and rose, and each went his own way.	49 E tutti furono sbigottiti, e levàrsi quelli ch' erano invitati da Adonia, e cadauno se n'andoe alla via sua.
50 And Adonijah feared Solomon; and he arose, and went, and caught hold of the horns of the altar.	50 Adonia veramente temendo Salomone partissi, e andossene (nel tabernacolo di Dio), e tenea il corno dell' altare.
51 And it was told Solomon, "Behold, Adonijah fears King Solomon; for, lo, he has laid hold of the horns of the altar, saying, 'Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not slay his servant with the sword.'"	51 E fue annunciato a Salomone, che Adonia temea Salomone, e tenea il corno dell' altare, e diceva: giuri oggi a me il re Salomone, che non ucciderà di coltello me servo suo.
52 And Solomon said, "If he prove to be a worthy man, not one of his hairs shall fall to the earth; but if wickedness is found in him, he shall die."	52 E disse Salomone: s' egli sarà buono uomo, solamente uno de' suoi capegli non caderà in terra; ma se in lui sarà trovata cosa rea, egli sarae morto.
53 So King Solomon sent, and they brought him down from the altar. And he came and did obeisance to King Solomon; and Solomon said to him, "Go to your house."	53 Onde mandò Salomone, e partillo dal corno dell' altare; ed entrato adorò il re Salomone; e disse a lui Salomone: vattene in casa tua.
