1 Now these are the last words of David: The oracle of David, the son of Jesse, the oracle of the man who was raised on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, the sweet psalmist of Israel:	1 Dávid utolsó szózata ez volt: »Szól Dávid, Izáj fia, szól az a férfi, aki ígéretet kapott Jákob Istenének fölkentjéről, Izrael jeles zsoltárosa.
2 "The Spirit of the LORD speaks by me, his word is upon my tongue.	2 Az Úr lelke szól belőlem, az ő szózata van nyelvemen,
3 The God of Israel has spoken, the Rock of Israel has said to me: When one rules justly over men, ruling in the fear of God,	3 azt mondta nekem Izrael Istene, így szólt Izrael Erőse: ‘Úgy eljön az emberek Uralkodója, aki istenfélelemben, igazsággal uralkodik,
4 he dawns on them like the morning light, like the sun shining forth upon a cloudless morning, like rain that makes grass to sprout from the earth.	4 miként a hajnal fénye napkeltekor, felhőtlen reggelen felpiroslik, s miként az esőre fű sarjad a földből.’
5 Yea, does not my house stand so with God? For he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things and secure. For will he not cause to prosper all my help and my desire?	5 Nem oly nagy bár házam Isten előtt, mégis örök szövetségre lépett velem, s az szilárd és biztos teljesen, mert mindabból, ami üdvösségem, s mindabból, ami kívánságom, semmi sincs, ami meg ne valósuljon.
6 But godless men are all like thorns that are thrown away; for they cannot be taken with the hand;	6 A hitszegők azonban mind olyanok lesznek, mint a kitépett tövis: nem fogják meg azt kézzel,
7 but the man who touches them arms himself with iron and the shaft of a spear, and they are utterly consumed with fire."	7 ha valaki hozzá akar nyúlni, vassal és hegyes rúddal fegyverzi fel magát s meggyújtja tűzzel és semmivé égeti.«
8 These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-basshebeth a Tah-chemonite; he was chief of the three; he wielded his spear against eight hundred whom he slew at one time.	8 Dávid vitézeinek neve a következő volt: Jesbaám, Hakámoninak a fia, aki a három között a legfőbb volt. Ő egyszer felemelte dárdáját és nyolcszázat ölt meg egy ütközetben.
9 And next to him among the three mighty men was Eleazar the son of Dodo, son of Ahohi. He was with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel withdrew.	9 Utána következett az áhohita Eleazár, az ő apai nagybátyjának a fia, annak a három vitéznek az egyike, akik Dáviddal voltak, amikor a filiszteusokat megcsúfolták, s ott összegyűltek a harcra.
10 He rose and struck down the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand cleaved to the sword; and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the men returned after him only to strip the slain.	10 Amikor aztán Izrael emberei visszavonultak, ő megállt, s addig vágta a filiszteusokat, amíg keze el nem fáradt, s oda nem tapadt a kardhoz. Aznap az Úr nagy győzelmet szerzett, s a megfutamodott nép visszatért, hogy kifossza a megölteket.
11 And next to him was Shammah, the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines gathered together at Lehi, where there was a plot of ground full of lentils; and the men fled from the Philistines.	11 Utána következett Semma, az Áráriból való Áge fia. Amikor a filiszteusok összegyűltek állomásukra, ahol egy lencsével teli mező volt, s amikor a nép megfutamodott a filiszteusok színe elől,
12 But he took his stand in the midst of the plot, and defended it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD wrought a great victory.	12 ő megállt a mező közepén, s megvédte a mezőt, s megverte a filiszteusokat, s az Úr nagy győzelmet szerzett.
13 And three of the thirty chief men went down, and came about harvest time to David at the cave of Adullam, when a band of Philistines was encamped in the valley of Rephaim.	13 Ezt megelőzően, egyszer aratás idején, hárman a harminc legfőbb közül elindultak és lementek Dávidhoz, az adullámi barlangba, pedig a filiszteusok tábora az Óriások völgyében állt.
14 David was then in the stronghold; and the garrison of the Philistines was then at Bethlehem.	14 Dávid akkor a sziklavárban tartózkodott, s a filiszteusok előőrse Betlehemnél volt.
15 And David said longingly, "O that some one would give me water to drink from the well of Bethlehem which is by the gate!"	15 Dávid vágyakozva azt mondta: »Ó, ha adna nekem valaki egy ital vizet abból a vízveremből, amely Betlehem kapujánál van!«
16 Then the three mighty men broke through the camp of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem which was by the gate, and took and brought it to David. But he would not drink of it; he poured it out to the LORD,	16 Erre a három vitéz betört a filiszteusok táborába, s vizet merített abból a vízveremből, amely Betlehem kapujánál van, s elvitte Dávidnak. Ő azonban nem akarta meginni, hanem az Úrnak áldozta,
17 and said, "Far be it from me, O LORD, that I should do this. Shall I drink the blood of the men who went at the risk of their lives?" Therefore he would not drink it. These things did the three mighty men.	17 s ezt mondta: »Legyen az Úr kegyelmes irántam, hogy ezt meg ne cselekedjem. Vajon megigyam-e azoknak az embereknek a vérét, akik éltük kockáztatásával mentek el érte?!« Ezért nem akarta meginni. – Ilyeneket művelt a három vitéz.
18 Now Abishai, the brother of Joab, the son of Zeruiah, was chief of the thirty. And he wielded his spear against three hundred men and slew them, and won a name beside the three.	18 Abizáj, Joáb fivére, Száruja fia is legfőbb volt a harminc között. Ő volt az, aki felemelte dárdáját háromszáz ellen, s azokat meg is ölte. Neve volt a három között,
19 He was the most renowned of the thirty, and became their commander; but he did not attain to the three.	19 s a legjelesebb volt a harminc között, a vezérük is volt, de az első harmincat nem érte utol.
20 And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was a valiant man of Kabzeel, a doer of great deeds; he smote two ariels of Moab. He also went down and slew a lion in a pit on a day when snow had fallen.	20 Utána következett a nagy tetteket cselekvő Benája, Jojádának, egy vitéz embernek a fia, aki Kabszeélből való volt. Ő ütötte le a két moábi oroszlánt, s ő ment le, s ütötte agyon az oroszlánt a veremben, a hóesés napjaiban.
21 And he slew an Egyptian, a handsome man. The Egyptian had a spear in his hand; but Benaiah went down to him with a staff, and snatched the spear out of the Egyptian's hand, and slew him with his own spear.	21 Ugyancsak ő ütötte le azt az egyiptomi embert, aki nagyságával keltett méltó bámulatot. Ennek dárda volt a kezében, s ő csak egy bottal ment le hozzá, de nagy erővel kicsavarta a dárdát az egyiptomi kezéből, s megölte őt tulajdon dárdájával.
22 These things did Benaiah the son of Jehoiada, and won a name beside the three mighty men.	22 Ilyeneket művelt Benája, Jojáda fia.
23 He was renowned among the thirty, but he did not attain to the three. And David set him over his bodyguard.	23 Neki is neve volt azon három vitéz között, aki a harminc között a legjelesebb volt, de azt a hármat nem érte utol. Dávid őt titkos tanácsosává tette.
24 Asahel the brother of Joab was one of the thirty; Elhanan the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,	24 A harminc között voltak: Aszaél, Joáb fivére; Elehanán, az ő betlehemi nagybátyjának fia;

29 Heleb the son of Baanah of Netophah, Ittai the son of Ribai of Gibe-ah of the Benjaminites,	29 a szintén Netofátiból való Heled, Baána fia; Itáj, a Benjamin fiainak Gibeájából való Ribáj fia;
30 Benaiah of Pirathon, Hiddai of the brooks of Gaash,	30 a Fárátonból való Benája; a Gaás völgyéből való Heddáj;
31 Abi-albon the Arbathite, Azmaveth of Bahurim,	31 az Arbábtól való Abiálbon; a Beroimból való Azmávet;
32 Eliahba of Sha-albon, the sons of Jashen, Jonathan,	32 a Saláboniból való Eliába; Jássen fiai; Jonatán;
33 Shammah the Hararite, Ahiam the son of Sharar the Hararite,	33 az Ororiból való Semma; az Ároriból való Ajám, Sárár fia;
34 Eliphelet the son of Ahasbai of Maacah, Eliam the son of Ahithophel of Gilo,	34 Elifelet, egy Makáriból való ember fiának, Ahaszbájnak a fia; a Gelóból való Eliám, Ahitófel fia;
35 Hezro of Carmel, Paarai the Arbite,	35 a Kármelből való Heszráj; az Arábból való Fáráj;
36 Igal the son of Nathan of Zobah, Bani the Gadite,	36 Jígal, a Szóbából való Nátán fia; a Gáddiból való Bonni;
37 Zelek the Ammonite, Naharai of Be-eroth, the armor-bearer of Joab the son of Zeruiah,	37 az ammonita Szelek; a Berótból való Nahráj, Joábnak, Száruja fiának fegyverhordozója;
38 Ira the Ithrite, Gareb the Ithrite,	38 a Jetriből való Ira; a szintén Jetriből való Gáreb;
39 Uriah the Hittite: thirty-seven in all.	39 a hetita Uriás. Összesen harmincheten voltak.
