1 These are the descendants of Esau (that is, Edom).	1 Voici la descendance d'Esaü, qui est Edom.
2 Esau took his wives from the Canaanites: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the son of Zibeon the Hivite,	2 Esaü prit ses femmes parmi les filles de Canaan: Ada, la fille d'Elôn le Hittite, Oholibama, la filled'Ana, fils de Cibéôn le Horite,
3 and Basemath, Ishmael's daughter, the sister of Nebaioth.	3 Basmat, la fille d'Ismaël et la sœur de Nebayot.
4 And Adah bore to Esau, Eliphaz; Basemath bore Reuel;	4 Ada enfanta à Esaü Eliphaz, Basmat enfanta Réuel,
5 and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau who were born to him in the land of Canaan.	5 Oholibama enfanta Yéush, Yalam et Qorah. Tels sont les fils d'Esaü qui lui naquirent au pays deCanaan.
6 Then Esau took his wives, his sons, his daughters, and all the members of his household, his cattle, all his beasts, and all his property which he had acquired in the land of Canaan; and he went into a land away from his brother Jacob.	6 Esaü prit ses femmes, ses fils et ses filles, toutes les personnes de sa maison, son bétail et toutes sesbêtes de somme, bref tout le bien qu'il avait acquis au pays de Canaan, et il partit pour le pays de Séïr, loin deson frère Jacob.
7 For their possessions were too great for them to dwell together; the land of their sojournings could not support them because of their cattle.	7 En effet, ils avaient de trop grands biens pour habiter ensemble et le pays où ils séjournaient nepouvait pas leur suffire, en raison de leur avoir.
8 So Esau dwelt in the hill country of Seir; Esau is Edom.	8 Ainsi Esaü s'établit dans la montagne de Séïr. Esaü c'est Edom.
9 These are the descendants of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir.	9 Voici la descendance d'Esaü, père d'Edom, dans la montagne de Séïr.
10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Basemath the wife of Esau.	10 Voici les noms des fils d'Esaü: Eliphaz, le fils d'Ada, femme d'Esaü, et Réuel, le fils de Basmat,femme d'Esaü.
11 The sons of Eliphaz were Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam, and Kenaz.	11 Les fils d'Eliphaz furent: Témân, Omar, Cepho, Gatam, Qenaz.
12 (Timna was a concubine of Eliphaz, Esau's son; she bore Amalek to Eliphaz.) These are the sons of Adah, Esau's wife.	12 Eliphaz, fils d'Esaü, eut pour concubine Timna et elle lui enfanta Amaleq. Tels sont les fils d'Ada,la femme d'Esaü.
13 These are the sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah. These are the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife.	13 Voici les fils de Réuel: Nahat, Zérah, Shamma, Mizza. Tels furent les fils de Basmat, la femmed'Esaü.
14 These are the sons of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah the son of Zibeon, Esau's wife: she bore to Esau Jeush, Jalam, and Korah.	14 Voici les fils d'Oholibama, fille d'Ana, fils de Cibéôn, la femme d'Esaü: elle lui enfanta Yéush,Yalam et Qorah.
15 These are the chiefs of the sons of Esau. The sons of Eliphaz the first-born of Esau: the chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz,	15 Voici les chefs des fils d'Esaü. Fils d'Eliphaz, premier-né d'Esaü: le chef Témân, le chef Omar, lechef Cepho, le chef Qenaz,
16 Korah, Gatam, and Amalek; these are the chiefs of Eliphaz in the land of Edom; they are the sons of Adah.	16 le chef Gatam, le chef Amaleq. Tels sont les chefs d'Eliphazau pays d'Edom, tels sont les filsd'Ada.
17 These are the sons of Reuel, Esau's son: the chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah; these are the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom; they are the sons of Basemath, Esau's wife.	17 Et voici les fils de Réuel, le fils d'Esaü: le chef Nahat, lechef Zérah, le chef Shamma, le chefMizza. Tels sont les chefs de Réuel au pays d'Edom, tels sont les fils de Basmat, femme d'Esaü.
18 These are the sons of Oholibamah, Esau's wife: the chiefs Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; these are the chiefs born of Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, Esau's wife.	18 Et voici les fils d'Oholibama, la femme d'Esaü: le chef Yéush, le chef Yalam, le chef Qorah. Telssont les chefs d'Oholibama, fille d'Ana, femme d'Esaü.
19 These are the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these are their chiefs.	19 Tels sont les fils d'Esaü et tels sont leurs chefs. C'est Edom.
20 These are the sons of Seir the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,	20 Voici les fils de Séïr le Horite, les indigènes du pays: Lotân, Shobal, Cibéôn, Ana,
21 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, the sons of Seir in the land of Edom.	21 Dishôn, Eçer, Dishân, tels sont les chefs des Horites, les fils de Séïr au pays d'Edom.
22 The sons of Lotan were Hori and Heman; and Lotan's sister was Timna.	22 Les fils de Lotân furent Hori et Hémam, et la sœur de Lotân était Timna.
23 These are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam.	23 Voici les fils de Shobal: Alvân, Manahat, Ebal, Shepho, Onam.
24 These are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; he is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, as he pastured the asses of Zibeon his father.	24 Voici les fils de Cibéôn: Ayya, Ana -- c'est cet Ana qui trouva les eaux chaudes au désert enfaisant paître les ânesde son père Cibéôn.
25 These are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah.	25 Voici les enfants d'Ana: Dishôn, Oholibama, fille d'Ana.
26 These are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran, and Cheran.	26 Voici les fils de Dishôn: Hemdân, Eshbân, Yitrân, Kerân.
27 These are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Akan.	27 Voici les fils d'Eçer: Bilhân, Zaavân, Aqân.
28 These are the sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.	28 Voici les fils de Dishân: Uç et Arân.
29 These are the chiefs of the Horites: the chiefs Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah,	29 Voici les chefs des Horites: le chef Lotân, le chef Shobal, lechef Cibéôn, le chef Ana,
30 Dishon, Ezer, and Dishan; these are the chiefs of the Horites, according to their clans in the land of Seir.	30 le chef Dishôn, le chef Eçer, le chef Dishân. Tels sont les chefs des Horites, d'après leurs clans, aupays de Séïr.
31 These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom, before any king reigned over the Israelites.	31 Voici les rois qui régnèrent au pays d'Edom avant que ne régnât un roi des Israélites.
32 Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom, the name of his city being Dinhabah.	32 En Edom régna Béla, fils de Béor, et sa ville s'appelait Dinhaba.
33 Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead.	33 Béla mourut et à sa place régna Yobab, fils de Zérah, deBoçra.
34 Jobab died, and Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his stead.	34 Yobab mourut et à sa place régna Husham du pays des Témanites.
35 Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, reigned in his stead, the name of his city being Avith.	35 Husham mourut et à sa place régna Hadad, fils de Bedad, qui battit les Madianites dans lacampagne de Moab, et sa ville s'appelait Avvit.
36 Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead.	36 Hadad mourut et à sa place régna Samla, de Masréqa.
37 Samlah died, and Shaul of Rehoboth on the Euphrates reigned in his stead.	37 Samla mourut et à sa place régna Shaûl, de Rehobot-ha-Nahar.
38 Shaul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead.	38 Shaûl mourut et à sa place régna Baal-Hanân, fils d'Akbor.
39 Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead, the name of his city being Pau; his wife's name was Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab.	39 Baal-Hanân, fils d'Akbor, mourut et à sa place régna Hadad; sa ville s'appelait Paü; sa femmes'appelait Mehétabéel, fille de Matred, de Mé-Zahab.
40 These are the names of the chiefs of Esau, according to their families and their dwelling places, by their names: the chiefs Timna, Alvah, Jetheth,	40 Voici les noms des chefs d'Esaü, selon leurs clans et leurs lieux, d'après leurs noms: le chefTimna, le chef Alva, le chef Yetèt,
41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon,	41 le chef Oholibama, le chef Ela, le chef Pinôn,
42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar,	42 le chef Qenaz, le chef Témân, le chef Mibçar,
43 Magdiel, and Iram; these are the chiefs of Edom (that is, Esau, the father of Edom), according to their dwelling places in the land of their possession.	43 le chef Magdiel, le chef Iram. Tels sont les chefs d'Edom, selon leurs résidences au pays qu'ilspossédaient. C'est Esaü, père d'Edom.
