1 After these things God tested Abraham, and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here am I."	1 Passado isto, quis Deus tentar a Abraão, e disse-lhe: Abraão, Abraão! Ele respondeu: aqui estou.
2 He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."	2 (E Deus) disse-lhe: toma Isaac, teu filho único, a quem amas, vai ao país de Moriab, e aí o oferecerás em holocausto sobre um dos monteis, que eu te mostrar.
3 So Abraham rose early in the morning, saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and his son Isaac; and he cut the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.	3 Abraão, pois, levantando-se de noite, pôs a sela ao seu jumento, levando consigo dois jóvens (severos), e Isaac, seu filho; cortou a lenha para o holocausto e partiu para o lugar que Deus lhe tinha dito.
4 On the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place afar off.	4 Ao terceiro dia, levantando os olhos, viu o lugar de longe,
5 Then Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the ass; I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you."	5 e disse aos seus servos; esperai aqui com o jumento: eu e o menino vamos até acolá, e, depois de adorarmos, voltaremos a vós.
6 And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took in his hand the fire and the knife. So they went both of them together.	6 Tomou também a lenha do holocausto, e pô-la sobre Isaac, seu filho: ele, porém, levava nas mãos o fogo e o cutelo. Enquanto ambos caminhavam juntos,
7 And Isaac said to his father Abraham, "My father!" And he said, "Here am I, my son." He said, "Behold, the fire and the wood; but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?"	7 disse Isaac a seu pai: meu pai. Ele respondeu: que queres, filho? Eis, disse (Isaac), o fogo e a lenha, (mas) onde está a vitima para o holocousto?
8 Abraham said, "God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son." So they went both of them together.	8 Abraão respondeu: meu filho. Deus deparará a vítima para o seu holocausto. Caminhavam, pois, ambos juntos.
9 When they came to the place of which God had told him, Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, upon the wood.	9 Chegaram (finalmente) ao lugar que Deus lhe tinha designado, no qual levantou um altar, e sobre ele preparou a lenha; tendo ligado Isaac seu filho, pô-lo no altar sobre o feixe da lenha.
10 Then Abraham put forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.	10 Estendeu a mão e pegou no cutelo, para imolar seu filho.
11 But the angel of the LORD called to him from heaven, and said, "Abraham, Abraham!" And he said, "Here am I."	11 Então o anjo do Senhor gritou do céu, dizendo: Abraão, Abraão. Ele respondeu: aqui estou.
12 He said, "Do not lay your hand on the lad or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me."	12 E (o anjo) disse-lhe: não estendas a tua mão sobre o menino, nem lhe faças mal algum; agora conheci que temes a Deus e não perdoaste a teu filho único por amor de mim.
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him was a ram, caught in a thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered it up as a burnt offering instead of his son.	13 Abraão levantou os olhos e viu atrás de si um carneiro preso pelos chifres entre os espinhos, e, pegando nele, o ofereceu em holocausto, em lugar de seu filho.
14 So Abraham called the name of that place The LORD will provide; as it is said to this day, "On the mount of the LORD it shall be provided."	14 Chamou àquele lugar o Senhor providência. Donde até ao dia de hoje se diz: o Senhor providenciará sobre o monte.
15 And the angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time from heaven,	15 Segunda vez chamou o anjo do Senhor a Abraão Deus do céu, dizendo:
16 and said, "By myself I have sworn, says the LORD, because you have done this, and have not withheld your son, your only son,	16 por mim mesmo jurei, diz o Senhor, que, porque fizeste tal coisa e não perdoaste a teu filho único por amor de mim,
17 I will indeed bless you, and I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore. And your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies,	17 eu te abençoarei e multiplicarei a tua estirpe como as estrelas do céu, e como a areia das praias: a tua descendência possuirá as portas de seus inimigos,
18 and by your descendants shall all the nations of the earth bless themselves, because you have obeyed my voice."	18 e na tua descendência serão benditas todas as nações da terra, porque obedeceste à minha voz.
19 So Abraham returned to his young men, and they arose and went together to Beer-sheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beer-sheba.	19 Abraão voltou para (onde estavam) os seus servos, e foram juntos a Bersabeia, e aí habitou.
20 Now after these things it was told Abraham, "Behold, Milcah also has borne children to your brother Nahor:	20 Depois destas coisas, foi anunciado a Abraão que Melca também tinha dado à luz filhos a Nacor, irmão dele:
21 Uz the first-born, Buz his brother, Kemuel the father of Aram,	21 Hus, o primogênito, Bus, seu irmão, Camuel, pai dos Siros,
22 Chesed, Hazo, Pildash, Jidlaph, and Bethuel."	22 Cased, Azau, Feldas, Jedlaph,
23 Bethuel became the father of Rebekah. These eight Milcah bore to Nahor, Abraham's brother.	23 e Batuel, de quem nasceu Rebeca. Estes são os oito filhos que Melca deu à luz a Nacor, irmão de Abraão.
24 Moreover, his concubine, whose name was Reumah, bore Tebah, Gaham, Tahash, and Maacah.	24 E sua mulher secundária, chamada Roma, deu à luz Tabee, Gaam, Taas e Maaca.
