Genesis 13

1 So Abram went up from Egypt, he and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the Negeb.	1 Partissi adunque Abram d'Egitto, egli e la moglie sua ed ogni cosa che egli avea, e Lot alla parte australe con lui.
2 Now Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold.	2 Era in verità molto ricco in possessione d'argento e d'oro.
3 And he journeyed on from the Negeb as far as Bethel, to the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Ai,	3 E tornato si è per quello luogo per lo quale era venuto, dal meridie intra Betel per fine al luogo del tabernacolo,
4 to the place where he had made an altar at the first; and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.	4 ch' egli avea fatto prima; e chiamoe quivi lo nome del Signore.
5 And Lot, who went with Abram, also had flocks and herds and tents,	5 Ma Lot, il quale era con Abram, avea greggie di pecore ed armenta e tabernacoli.
6 so that the land could not support both of them dwelling together; for their possessions were so great that they could not dwell together,	6 E non potea tenere loro la terra, ch' eglino abitassero insieme; ed era in verità la sostanza loro molta, e non poteano abitare insieme.
7 and there was strife between the herdsmen of Abram's cattle and the herdsmen of Lot's cattle. At that time the Canaanites and the Perizzites dwelt in the land.	7 Onde fatta è zuffa tra i pastori delle greggie di Abram e di Lot. In quello medesimo tempo lo Cananeo e Ferezeo abitavano in quella terra.
8 Then Abram said to Lot, "Let there be no strife between you and me, and between your herdsmen and my herdsmen; for we are kinsmen.	8 Disse adunque Abram a Lot: io t'addomando che non sia lite tra te e me, ed intra' pastori miei ed intra' i pastori tuoi; chè fratelli noi siamo.
9 Is not the whole land before you? Separate yourself from me. If you take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if you take the right hand, then I will go to the left."	9 Ecco tutta la terra innanzi a te; ed io ti prego che tu ti parti da me: se tu andarae dalla mano manca, ed io dalla dritta terrò; se tu isceglierai dalla dritta, ed io terrò dalla manca.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and saw that the Jordan valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of Zoar; this was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.	10 E levati dunque Lot gli occhii, vidde ogni regione intorno al Giordano, il quale le bagnava, inanzi che sovertisse il Signore Sodoma e Gomorra, sì come paradiso del Signore, e si come l'Egitto a quelli vegnenti in Segor.
11 So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan valley, and Lot journeyed east; thus they separated from each other.	11 Ed elesse a sè Lot la regione intorno al Giordano, e partissi dall'oriente; e divisero ciascuno dal suo fratello.
12 Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, while Lot dwelt among the cities of the valley and moved his tent as far as Sodom.	12 Abram abitoe nella terra di Canaan; Lot stette nelle terre le quali erano intorno al Giordano, ed abitoe poi in Sodoma.
13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the LORD.	13 In verità gli uomini di Sodoma erano pessimi; ed erano peccatori dinanzi al Signore troppo.
14 The LORD said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, "Lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward;	14 E disse il Signore ad Abram, poscia che si partì Lot da lui: lieva gli occhii tuoi, e poni mente, dal luogo dove ora sei, all'aquilone e al meridie, e all'oriente e all'occidente.
15 for all the land which you see I will give to you and to your descendants for ever.	15 Ogni terra, la quale puoi tu vedere, a te darò e al seme tuo per sempre.
16 I will make your descendants as the dust of the earth; so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your descendants also can be counted.	16 E farò lo seme tuo sì come la polvere della terra; se alcuno potesse annumerare la polvere, il seme tuo potrà annumerare.
17 Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you."	17 Leva su, e va sopra la terra in lunghezza ed in larghezza sua; imperciò ch' io ti darò quella.
18 So Abram moved his tent, and came and dwelt by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron; and there he built an altar to the LORD.	18 Movente si adunque Abram lo tabernacolo suo, venne ed abitò appo convalle Mambre, la quale è in Ebron; ed edificò qui l'altare al Signore.
