1 Now the Philistines were fighting against Israel. And the men of Israel fled before the face of the Philistines, and they fell down slain on mount Gilboa.	1 Οι δε Φιλισταιοι επολεμουν κατα του Ισραηλ? και εφυγον οι ανδρες του Ισραηλ απο προσωπου των Φιλισταιων και επεσον πεφονευμενοι εν τω ορει Γελβουε.
2 And the Philistines rushed upon Saul, and upon his sons, and they struck down Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.	2 Και κατεφθασαν οι Φιλισταιοι τον Σαουλ και τους υιους αυτου? και επαταξαν οι Φιλισταιοι τον Ιωναθαν και τον Αβιναδαβ και τον Μελχι-σουε, τους υιους του Σαουλ.
3 And the entire weight of the battle was turned against Saul. And the men who were archers pursued him. And he was severely wounded by the archers.	3 Εβαρυνε δε η μαχη επι τον Σαουλ, και επετυχον αυτον οι ανδρες οι τοξοται και επληγωθη βαρεως υπο των τοξοτων.
4 Then Saul said to his armor bearer, “Draw your sword and strike me, otherwise these uncircumcised may come and kill me, mocking me.” And his armor bearer was not willing. For he had been struck with an exceedingly great fear. And so, Saul took his own sword, and he fell upon it.	4 Και ειπεν ο Σαουλ προς τον οπλοφορον αυτου, Συρε την ρομφαιαν σου και διαπερασον με δι' αυτης, δια να μη ελθωσιν ουτοι οι απεριτμητοι και με διαπερασωσι και με εμπαιξωσι? πλην ο οπλοφορος αυτου δεν ηθελε, διοτι εφοβειτο σφοδρα. Οθεν ελαβεν ο Σαουλ την ρομφαιαν και επεσεν επ' αυτην.
5 And when his armor bearer had seen this, namely, that Saul had died, he too fell upon his sword, and he died with him.	5 Και ως ειδεν ο οπλοφορος αυτου οτι απεθανεν ο Σαουλ, επεσε και αυτος επι την ρομφαιαν αυτου και απεθανε μετ' αυτου.
6 Therefore, Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor bearer, and all his men, on the same day together.	6 ουτως απεθανεν ο Σαουλ και οι τρεις υιοι αυτου, και ο οπλοφορος αυτου και παντες οι ανδρες αυτου, την αυτην εκεινην ημεραν ομου.
7 Then, seeing that the men of the Israelites had fled, and that Saul had died with his sons, the men of Israel who were across the valley or beyond the Jordan abandoned their cities, and they fled. And the Philistines went and lived there.	7 Και οι ανδρες Ισραηλ, οι περαν της κοιλαδος, και οι περαν του Ιορδανου, ιδοντες οτι εφυγον οι ανδρες Ισραηλ και οτι ο Σαουλ και οι υιοι αυτου απεθανον, κατελιπον τας πολεις και εφυγον. και ελθοντες οι Φιλισταιοι κατωκησαν εν αυταις.
8 Then, when the next day arrived, the Philistines came, so that they might despoil the slain. And they found Saul and his three sons lying on mount Gilboa.	8 Και την επαυριον, οτε ηλθον οι Φιλισταιοι δια να εκδυσωσι τους πεφονευμενους, ευρηκαν τον Σαουλ και τους τρεις υιους αυτου πεπτωκοτας επι το ορος Γελβουε.
9 And they cut off the head of Saul. And they despoiled him of the armor, and they sent it into the land of the Philistines all around, so that it might be announced in the temples of the idols and among their people.	9 Και απεκοψαν την κεφαλην αυτου και εξεδυσαν τα οπλα αυτου και απεστειλαν εις την γην των Φιλισταιων κυκλω, δια να διαδωσωσι την αγγελιαν εις τον οικον των ειδωλων αυτων και μεταξυ του λαου.
10 And they placed his armor in the temple of Ashtaroth. But his body they suspended on the wall of Bethshan.	10 Και ανεθεσαν τα οπλα αυτου εις τον οικον της Ασταρωθ, και εκρεμασαν το σωμα αυτου εις το τειχος Βαιθ-σαν.
11 And when the inhabitants of Jabesh Gilead had heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,	11 Ακουσαντες δε περι τουτου οι κατοικοι της Ιαβεις-γαλααδ, τι εκαμον οι Φιλισταιοι εις τον Σαουλ,
12 all the most valiant men rose up, and they walked all night, and they took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Bethshan. And they went to Jabesh Gilead, and they burned them there.	12 ηγερθησαν παντες οι δυνατοι ανδρες και ωδοιπορησαν ολην την νυκτα και ελαβον το σωμα του Σαουλ και τα σωματα των υιων αυτου απο του τειχους Βαιθ-σαν, και ηλθον εις Ιαβεις και εκαυσαν αυτα εκει?
13 And they took their bones, and they buried them in the forest of Jabesh. And they fasted for seven days.	13 και ελαβον τα οστα αυτων και εθαψαν υπο το δενδρον εν Ιαβεις και ενηστευσαν επτα ημερας.
