Galatians 5

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINDOUAI-RHEIMS
Stand firm, and do not be willing to be again held by the yoke of servitude.1 Stand fast, and be not held again under the yoke of bondage.
Behold, I, Paul, say to you, that if you have been circumcised, Christ will be of no benefit to you.2 Behold, I Paul tell you, that if you be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
For I again testify, about every man circumcising himself, that he is obligated to act according to the entire law.3 And I testify again to every man circumcising himself, that he is a debtor to the whole law.
You are being emptied of Christ, you who are being justified by the law. You have fallen from grace.4 You are made void of Christ, you who are justified in the law: you are fallen from grace.
For in spirit, by faith, we await the hope of justice.5 For we in spirit, by faith, wait for the hope of justice.
For in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision prevails over anything, but only faith which works through charity.6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision: but faith that worketh by charity.
You have run well. So what has impeded you, that you would not obey the truth?7 You did run well, who hath hindered you, that you should not obey the truth?
This kind of influence is not from him who is calling you.8 This persuasion is not from him that calleth you.
A little leaven corrupts the whole mass.9 A little leaven corrupteth the whole lump.
I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will accept nothing of the kind. However, he who disturbs you shall bear the judgment, whomever he may be.10 I have confidence in you in the Lord: that you will not be of another mind: but he that troubleth you, shall bear the judgment, whosoever he be.
And as for me, brothers, if I still preach circumcision, why am I still suffering persecution? For then the scandal of the Cross would be made empty.11 And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? Then is the scandal of the cross made void.
And I wish that those who disturb you would be torn away.12 I would they were even cut off, who trouble you.
For you, brothers, have been called to liberty. Only you must not make liberty into an occasion for the flesh, but instead, serve one another through the charity of the Spirit.13 For you, brethren, have been called unto liberty: only make not liberty an occasion to the flesh, but by charity of the spirit serve one another.
For the entire law is fulfilled by one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word: Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you are not consumed by one another!15 But if you bite and devour one another; take heed you be not consumed one of another.
So then, I say: Walk in the spirit, and you will not fulfill the desires of the flesh.16 I say then, walk in the spirit, and you shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh.
For the flesh desires against the spirit, and the spirit against the flesh. And since these are against one another, you may not do whatever you want.17 For the flesh lusteth against the spirit: and the spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary one to another: so that you do not the things that you would.
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.18 But if you are led by the spirit, you are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest; they are: fornication, lust, homosexuality, self-indulgence,19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are fornication, uncleanness, immodesty, luxury,
the serving of idols, drug use, hostility, contentiousness, jealousy, wrath, quarrels, dissensions, divisions,20 Idolatry, witchcrafts, enmities, contentions, emulations, wraths, quarrels, dissensions, sects,
envy, murder, inebriation, carousing, and similar things. About these things, I continue to preach to you, as I have preached to you: that those who act in this way shall not obtain the kingdom of God.21 Envies, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like. Of the which I foretell you, as I have foretold to you, that they who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is charity, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, forbearance,22 But the fruit of the Spirit is, charity, joy, peace, patience, benignity, goodness, longanimity,
meekness, faith, modesty, abstinence, chastity. There is no law against such things.23 Mildness, faith, modesty, continency, chastity. Against such there is no law.
For those who are Christ’s have crucified their flesh, along with its vices and desires.24 And they that are Christ's, have crucified their flesh, with the vices and concupiscences.
If we live by the Spirit, we should also walk by the Spirit.25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Let us not become desirous of empty glory, provoking one another, envying one another.26 Let us not be made desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying on another.
