And climbing into a boat, he crossed the sea, and he arrived at his own city.1 Subindo para uma pequena barca, tornou a passar o lago, e voltou para a sua cidade.
And behold, they brought to him a paralytic, lying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, “Be strengthened in faith, son; your sins are forgiven you.”2 Eis que lhe apresentaram um paralítico, que jazia no leito. Vendo Jesus a fé que e es tinham, disse ao paralítico: "Filho, tem confiança, são-te perdoados os teus pecados."
And behold, some of the scribes said within themselves, “He is blaspheming.”3 Então alguns dos escribas disseram dentro de si: "Este blasfema."
And when Jesus had perceived their thoughts, he said: “Why do you think such evil in your hearts?4 Tendo Jesus visto os seus pensamentos, disse: "Porque pensais mal nos vossos corações?
Which is easier to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk?’5 Que coisa é menos difícil dizer: São-te perdoados os teus pecados, ou dizer: Levanta-te e caminha?
But, so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he then said to the paralytic, “Rise up, take up your bed, and go into your house.”6 Pois, para que saibas que o Filho do homem tem poder sobre a terra de perdoar pecados: Levanta-te, disse então ao paralítico, toma o teu leito, e vai para tua casa.
And he arose and went into his house.7 E ele levantou-se, e foi para sua casa."
Then the crowd, seeing this, was frightened, and they glorified God, who gave such power to men.8 Vendo isto, as multidões ficaram possuídas de temor, e glorificaram a Deus por ter dado tal poder aos homens.
And when Jesus passed on from there, he saw, sitting at the tax office, a man named Matthew. And he said to him, “Follow me.” And rising up, he followed him.9 Partindo Jesus dali, viu um homem que estava sentado no telónio, chamado Mateus, e disse-lhe: "Segue-me." E ele, levantando-se, o seguiu.
And it happened that, as he was sitting down to eat in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners arrived, and they sat down to eat with Jesus and his disciples.10 Acontecem que, estando (Jesus) sentado à mesa em casa deste homem, eis que, vindo muitos publicanos e pecadores, se sentaram à mesa com Jesus e com os seus discípulos.
And the Pharisees, seeing this, said to his disciples, “Why does your Teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?”11 Vendo isto, os fariseus diziam aos seus discípulos: Por que motivo come o vosso Mestre com os publicanos e pecadores?
But Jesus, hearing this, said: “It is not those who are healthy who are in need of a physician, but those who have maladies.12 Jesus, ouvindo isto, disse: "Os sãos não têm necessidade de médico, mas sim os enfermos.
So then, go out and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice.’ For I have not come to call the just, but sinners.”13 Ide, e aprendei o que significa: Quero misericórdia e não sacrifício (Os. 6, 6). Porque eu não vim chamar os justos, mas os pecadores."
Then the disciples of John drew near to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast frequently, but your disciples do not fast?”14 Então foram ter com ele os discípulos de João e lhe disseram: "Qual é a razão por que nós os fariseus jejuamos, e os teus discípulos não jejuam?"
And Jesus said to them: “How can the sons of the groom mourn, while the groom is still with them? But the days will arrive when the groom will be taken away from them. And then they shall fast.15 Jesus respondeu-lhes: "Porventura podem estar tristes os companheiros do esposo, enquanto o esposo está com eles? Mas virão dias em que lhes será tirado o esposo, e então eles jejuarão.
For no one would sew a patch of new cloth onto an old garment. For it pulls its fullness away from the garment, and the tear is made worse.16 Ninguém deita um remendo de pano cru em vestido velho, porque este remendo levaria consigo uma parte do vestido, e ficava pior o rasgão.
Neither do they pour new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wineskins rupture, and the wine pours out, and the wineskins are destroyed. Instead, they pour new wine into new wineskins. And so, both are preserved.”17 Nem se deita vinho novo em odres velhos; doutro modo rebentam os odres, derrama-se o vinho, e perdem-se os odres. Mas deita-se vinho novo em odres novos; e assim ambas as coisas se conservam.
As he was speaking these things to them, behold, a certain ruler approached and adored him, saying: “Lord, my daughter has recently passed away. But come and impose your hand upon her, and she will live.”18 Enquanto lhes dizia estas coisas, eis que um príncipe (da sinagoga) se aproxima e se prostra diante dele, dizendo: "Senhor, morreu agora minha filha; mas vem, põe a tua mão sobre ela, e viverá."
And Jesus, rising up, followed him, with his disciples.19 Jesus, levantando-se, o seguiu com os seus discípulos.
And behold, a woman, who had suffered from a flow of blood for twelve years, approached from behind and touched the hem of his garment.20 Eis que uma mulher, que, havia doze anos, padecia de um fluxo de sangue, se chegou por detrás dele, e tocou a fímbria do seu vestido.
For she said within herself, “If I will touch even his garment, I shall be saved.”21 Dizia dentro de si: "Ainda que eu toque sòmente o seu vestido, serei curada."
But Jesus, turning and seeing her, said: “Be strengthened in faith, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And the woman was made well from that hour.22 Voltando-se Jesus e, vendo-a, disse: 'Tem confiança, filha, a tua fé te salvou." E ficou sã a mulher desde aquele momento.
And when Jesus had arrived in the house of the ruler, and he had seen the musicians and the tumultuous crowd,23 Tendo Jesus chegado a casa do príncipe (da sinagoga) viu os tocadores de flauta e uma multidão de gente, que fazia muito barulho.
he said, “Depart. For the girl is not dead, but asleep.” And they derided him.24 "Retirai-vos, disse, porque a menina não está morta, mas dorme." E eles o escarneciam.
And when the crowd had been sent away, he entered. And he took her by the hand. And the girl rose up.25 Tendo-se feito sair a gente, ele entrou e, tomando a menina pela mão, ela se levantou.
And the news of this went out to that entire land.26 E divulgou-se a fama (deste milagre) por toda aquela terra.
And as Jesus passed from there, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, “Take pity on us, Son of David.”27 Partindo dali Jesus, seguiram-no , dois cegos, gritando e dizendo: "Tem piedade de nós. Filho de David !"
And when he had arrived at the house, the blind men approached him. And Jesus said to them, “Do you trust that I am able to do this for you?” They say to him, “Certainly, Lord.”28 Tendo chegado a casa, aproximaram-se dele os cegos. E Jesus disse-lhes: "Credes que posso fazer isto?" Eles responderam: "Sim , Senhor."
Then he touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith, so let it be done for you.”29 Então tocou-lhes os olhos, dizendo: "Seja-vos feito segundo a vossa fé."
And their eyes were opened. And Jesus warned them, saying, “See to it that no one knows of this.”30 E abriram-se os seus olhos. Jesus deu-lhes ordens terminantes, dizendo: "Vede que ninguém o saiba."
But going out, they spread the news of it to all that land.31 Mas eles, retirando-se, divulgaram por toda aquela terra a sua fama.
Then, when they had departed, behold, they brought him a man who was mute, having a demon.32 Tendo-se estes retirado, apresentaram-lhe um mudo possesso do demônio.
And after the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds wondered, saying, “Never has anything like this been seen in Israel.”33 Expulso o demônio, falou o mudo, e admiraram-se as multidões, dizendo: "Nunca se viu coisa assim em Israel" Os fariseus, porém, diziam: "Ele expulsa os demônios por meio do príncipe dos demônios."
But the Pharisees said, “By the prince of demons does he cast out demons.”
And Jesus traveled throughout all of the cities and towns, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the kingdom, and healing every illness and every infirmity.35 Jesus ia percorrendo todas as cidades e aldeias, ensinando nas sinagogas, pregando o Evangelho do reino, e curando toda a doença e toda a enfermidade.
Then, seeing the multitudes, he had compassion on them, because they were distressed and were reclining, like sheep without a shepherd.36 Vendo aquelas multidões, compadeceu-se delas, porque estavam fatigadas e abatidas, como ovelhas sem pastor.
Then he said to his disciples: “The harvest indeed is great, but the laborers are few.37 Então disse a seus discípulos: " A messe é verdadeiramente grande, mas os operários são poucos.
Therefore, petition the Lord of the harvest, so that he may sent out laborers to his harvest.”38 Rogai pois ao Senhor da messe, que mande operários para a sua messe."
