Hosea 12

1 Ephraim feeds on wind and follows burning heat; all day long he multiplies lies and desolation. And he has entered into a pact with the Assyrians, and he has carried oil into Egypt.	1 Efraim si pasce di vento, e va dietro al (vento) infocato: tutto il giorno accumula menzogne e rovine: ha fatto alleanza cogli Assiri, mentre va a portare l'olio in Egitto.
2 Therefore, the judgment of the Lord is with Judah and a visitation is upon Jacob. He will repay him according to his ways and according to his inventions.	2 Il giudizio del Signore è dunque contro Giuda, e il suo castigo sopra Giacobbe, secondo la sua condotta darà a lui secondo i suoi ritrovati.
3 In the womb, he supplanted his brother; for in his good fortune, he had been guided by an angel.	3 Nel seno (materno) soppiantò il suo fratello, colla sua forza lottò coll'angelo,
4 And he prevailed over an angel, for he had been strengthened. He wept and petitioned him. He found him in Bethel, and there he has spoken to us.	4 e prevalse contro l'angelo e vinse, e piangendo lo pregò: lo trovò in Betel, ed ivi parlò con noi.
5 And the Lord God of hosts, the Lord is his memorial.	5 Il Signore è il Dio degli eserciti, il Signore è il suo memoriale.
6 And so, you should convert to your God. Keep mercy and judgment, and have hope in your God always.	6 E tu ritorna al tuo Dio, conserva la misericordia e la giustizia e spera sempre nel tuo Dio.
7 Canaan, in his hand is a deceitful balance, he has chosen false accusations.	7 Canaan tiene in mano una bilancia falsa ed ama l'oppressione.
8 And Ephraim has said, “Nevertheless, I have become rich; I have found an idol for myself. All of my labors will not reveal to me the iniquity that I have committed.”	8 Efraim va dicendo: « Intanto io mi son fatto ricco, mi son trovato un idolo, in tutte, le mie fatiche non troveranno per me un peccato che abbia fatto io ».
9 And I, the Lord your God from the land of Egypt, nevertheless will cause you to dwell in tabernacles, just as during the days of the feast.	9 Ma io sono il Signore Dio tuo fin dalla terra d'Egitto, e ti farò ancora dimorare nelle tende, come nei giorni di festa.
10 And I have spoken through the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and I have used parables through the hands of the prophets.	10 E io ho parlato ai profeti, ho moltiplicate le visioni, per mezzo dei profeti mi son dipinto.
11 If Gilead is an idol, then they have been sacrificing cattle in Gilgal to no purpose. For even their altars are like clutter on the soil of the field.	11 Se Galaad è un idolo, dunque invano in Galgala sacrificavano dei tori; infatti i loro altari son come mucchi di pietre sopra i solchi dei campi.
12 Jacob fled into the region of Syria, and Israel served like a wife, and was served by a wife.	12 Giacobbe fuggì nelle regioni della Siria, Israele servì per una moglie, e per una moglie guardò (il gregge).
13 Yet by a prophet the Lord led Israel out of Egypt, and he was served by a prophet.	13 E per mezzo d'un profeta il Signore trasse Israele dall'Egitto, e lo salvò per mezzo d'un profeta.
14 Ephraim has provoked me to wrath with his bitterness, and his blood will overcome him, and his Lord will requite him for his shamefulness.	14 Efraim mi provocò a sdegno colle sue amarezze, sopra di lui ricadrà il suo sangue, e il suo Signore gli renderà i suoi oltraggi.
