Leviticus 17

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	1 El Señor habló así a Moisés:
2 Speak to Aaron and his sons, and to all the sons of Israel, saying to them: This is the word, which the Lord has commanded, saying:	2 «Di a Aarón y a sus hijos, y a todos los hijos de Israel: “Esta es la orden del Señor:
3 Any man at all of the house of Israel, if he will have killed an ox, or a sheep, or a goat in the camp or beyond the camp,	3 cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel que mate buey, oveja o cabra dentro del campamento o fuera del mismo,
4 and not have presented it as an oblation to the Lord at the door of the tabernacle, he shall be guilty of blood. It is just as if he had shed blood; so then, he shall perish from the midst of his people.	4 y no los lleve a la entrada de la Tienda del Encuentro, para presentarlos como ofrenda al Señor ante su Morada, será reo de sangre. Ese hombre ha derramado sangre y será excluido de su pueblo.
5 Therefore, the sons of Israel must offer to the priest their victims, which they kill in the field, so that they may be sanctified to the Lord before the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, and so that they may immolate them as peace offerings to the Lord.	5 Así pues, los hijos de Israel han de presentar en honor del Señor al sacerdote, a la entrada de la Tienda del Encuentro, aquellas víctimas que matan en el campo, para que se ofrezcan como sacrificios de comunión.
6 And the priest shall pour the blood upon the altar of the Lord, at the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, and he shall burn the fat as a sweet odor to the Lord.	6 El sacerdote derramará la sangre sobre el altar del Señor, a la entrada de la Tienda del Encuentro, y quemará las grasas como aroma que aplaca al Señor.
7 And they shall no longer immolate their victims to demons, with whom they have committed fornication. It shall be an everlasting ordinance for them and for their posterity.	7 En adelante no seguirán inmolando sus sacrificios a los sátiros con los que se prostituían. Es ley perpetua para ellos, generación tras generación”.
8 And you shall say to them: The man of the house of Israel, or of the newcomers who sojourn with you, who offers a holocaust or a victim,	8 Diles también: “Cualquier hombre de la casa de Israel, o de los emigrantes que residen entre ellos, que ofrezca holocausto o sacrificio de comunión,
9 and who does not bring it to the door of the tabernacle of the testimony, so that it may be offered to the Lord, shall pass away from his people.	9 y no lo lleve a la entrada de la Tienda del Encuentro para sacrificarlo en honor del Señor, será excluido de su pueblo.
10 Any man at all of the house of Israel, or of the newcomers who sojourn among them, if he has eaten blood, I will harden my face against his soul, and I will drive him from his people.	10 Si un hombre cualquiera de la casa de Israel, o de los emigrantes que residen entre ellos, come cualquier clase de sangre, yo me volveré contra el que coma sangre y lo excluiré de su pueblo.
11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you, so that you may atone with it upon the altar for your souls, and so that the blood may be for an expiation of the soul.	11 Porque la vida de la carne está en la sangre, y yo os he dado la sangre para hacer expiación sobre el altar por vuestras vidas, pues la expiación por la vida se hace con la sangre.
12 For this reason, I have said to the sons of Israel: No soul among you shall eat blood, nor among the newcomers who sojourn with you.	12 Por eso tengo dicho a los hijos de Israel: ‘No comeréis sangre ninguno de vosotros, ni el emigrante que reside entre vosotros’.
13 Any man at all from the sons of Israel, or from the newcomers who sojourn with you, whether by hunting or bird-catching, if he seizes a wild beast or a bird, which is lawful to eat, let him pour out its blood and cover the earth with it.	13 Cualquier hombre de los hijos de Israel, o de los emigrantes que residen entre ellos, que cace un animal o un ave comestible, derramará su sangre y la cubrirá con tierra.
14 For the life of all flesh is in the blood. Therefore, I said to the sons of Israel: You shall not eat the blood of any flesh at all, because the life of the flesh is in the blood, and whoever has eaten it shall perish.	14 Porque la vida de toda carne está en su sangre. Por eso mandé a los hijos de Israel: ‘No comeréis la sangre de carne alguna, pues la vida de toda carne está en su sangre. Quien la coma, será excluido’.
15 The soul who eats what has died on its own, or what has been caught by a beast, whether he is native born or a newcomer, shall wash his clothes and himself with water, and he shall be contaminated until evening. And by this means he shall be made clean.	15 Todo nativo o emigrante que coma carne de bestia muerta o destrozada lavará sus vestidos, se bañará y quedará impuro hasta la tarde; después será puro.
16 But if he will not wash his clothes and his body, he shall bear his iniquity.	16 Si no los lava ni se baña, cargará con su falta”».
