Proverbs 13

1 A wise son is the doctrine of his father. But he who ridicules does not listen when he is reproved.	1 Il figlio saggio (accoglie) gl'insegnamenti del padre, ma lo schernitore non sta a sentire quando si corregge.
2 From the fruit of his own month, a man shall be satisfied with good things. But the soul of betrayers is iniquity.	2 Per i frutti della sua bocca l'uomo sarà saziato di beni, ma l'anima dei prevaricatori è iniqua.
3 Whoever guards his mouth guards his soul. But whoever gives no consideration to his speech shall experience misfortunes.	3 Chi custodisce la sua bocca, custodisce l'anima sua, chi è avventato nel parlare sentirà dei guai.
4 The lazy one is willing and then not willing. But the soul of he who labors shall be made fat.	4 Il pigro vuole e non vuole, ma l'anima di chi lavora sarà nell'abbondanza.
5 The just shall detest a lying word. But the impious confound and will be confounded.	5 Il giusto detesterà la parola menzognera, l'empio confonde e sarà confuso.
6 Justice guards the way of the innocent. But impiety undermines the sinner.	6 La giustizia protegge i passi dell'innocente, ma l'empietà manda in rovina il peccatore.
7 One is like the rich, though he has nothing. And another is like the poor, though he has many riches.	7 Uno fa il ricco e non ha niente, l'altro fa il povero in mezzo a moìte ricchezze.
8 The redemption of a man’s life is his riches. But he who is poor cannot tolerate correction.	8 Colle sue ricchezze il ricco riscatta la sua vita, ma chi è povero va esente da minacce.
9 The light of the just enriches. But the lamp of the impious will be extinguished.	9 La luce dei giusti rallegra, ma la lucerna degli empi si estinguerà.
10 Among the arrogant, there are always conflicts. But those who do everything with counsel are ruled by wisdom.	10 Tra i superbi son continue le risse; quelli che fan tutto con consiglio si governano con sapienza.
11 Substance obtained in haste will be diminished. But what is collected by hand, little by little, shall be multiplied.	11 Le ricchezze ammassate in fretta scemeranno, quelle raccolte a poco a poco saran moltiplicate.
12 Hope, when it is delayed, afflicts the soul. The arrival of the desired is a tree of life.	12 La speranza differita, affligge lo spirito; il desiderio adempito è albero di vita.
13 Whoever denounces something obligates himself for the future. But whoever fears a lesson shall turn away in peace. Deceitful souls wander into sins. The just are merciful and compassionate.	13 Chi parla male d'una cosa si fa debitore per l'avvenire, chi rispetta il precetto starà in pace. Le anime ingannatrici si smarriscono tra i peccati, invece i giusti son misericordiosi e pieni di compassione.
14 The law of the wise is a fountain of life, so that he may turn aside from the ruin of death.	14 L'insegnamento del sapiente è fonte di vita e fa evitare la rovina delta morte.
15 Good doctrine bestows grace. In the way of the contemptuous, there is a chasm.	15 La buona dottrina ronderà graditi; sulla via degli schernitori v'è la voragine.
16 The discerning do everything with counsel. But whoever is senseless discloses his stupidity.	16 L'uomo accorto fa tutto con consiglio, ma l'insensato fa conoscere la sua stoltezza.
17 The messenger of the impious will fall into evil. But a faithful ambassador shall prosper.	17 Il messo dell'empio cadrà in guai, il messaggero fedele è di salvezza.
18 Destitution and disgrace are for those who abandon discipline. But whoever agrees with a reproof shall be glorified.	18 Miseria e vergogna a chi fugge la correzione, chi dà retta a chi lo corregge sarà onorato.
19 The desired, when perfected, shall delight the soul. The foolish detest those who flee from evils.	19 Il desiderio appagato fa gioir l'anima, gli stolti detestano chi fugge il male.
20 Whoever keeps step with the wise shall be wise. A friend of the foolish will become like them.	20 Chi va coi sapienti diventerà sapiente, l'amico degli stolti diventerà simile a loro.
21 Evil pursues sinners. And good things shall be distributed to the just.	21 Il male perseguita i peccatori, ai giusti sarà dato come ricompensa il bene.
22 The good leave behind heirs: children and grandchildren. And the substance of the sinner is preserved for the just.	22 L'uomo dabbene lascia eredi i figli e i nipoti, e saran riserbati al giusto i beni del peccatore.
23 Much nourishment is in the fallow land of the fathers. But for others, it is gathered without judgment.	23 Si trova abbondante nutrimento nei campi dissodati dai padri, senza giudizio si raccoglie per gli altri.
24 He who spares the rod hates his son. But he who loves him urgently instructs him.	24 Chi risparmia la verga odia il suo figliolo, chi lo ama ha premura di correggerlo.
25 The just eats and fills his soul. But the belly of the impious is never satisfied.	25 Il giusto mangia e si sazia ma non è mai sazio il ventre degli empi.
