Psalms 44

1 Unto the end. For those who will be changed. To the sons of Korah, toward understanding. A Canticle for the Beloved.	1 Magistro chori. Filiorum Core. Maskil.
2 My heart has uttered a good word. I speak of my works to the king. My tongue is like the pen of a scribe who writes quickly.	2 Deus, auribus nostris audivimus; patres nostri annuntiaverunt nobis opus, quod operatus es in diebus eorum, in diebus antiquis.
3 You are a brilliant form before the sons of men. Grace has been poured freely into your lips. Because of this, God has blessed you in eternity.	3 Tu manu tua gentes depulisti et plantasti illos, afflixisti populos et dilatasti eos.
4 Fasten your sword to your thigh, O most powerful one.	4 Nec enim in gladio suo possederunt terram, et brachium eorum non salvavit eos; sed dextera tua et brachium tuum et illuminatio vultus tui, quoniam complacuisti in eis.
5 With your splendor and your excellence extended, proceed prosperously, and reign for the sake of truth and meekness and justice, and so will your right hand lead you wondrously.	5 Tu es rex meus et Deus meus, qui mandas salutes Iacob.
6 Your arrows are sharp; the people will fall under you, with the hearts of the enemies of the king.	6 In te inimicos nostros proiecimus, et in nomine tuo conculcavimus insurgentes in nos. -
7 Your throne, O God, is forever and ever. The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter of true aim.	7 Non enim in arcu meo sperabo, et gladius meus non salvabit me.
8 You have loved justice and hated iniquity. Because of this, God, your God, has anointed you, before your co-heirs, with the oil of gladness.	8 Tu autem salvasti nos de affligentibus nos et odientes nos confudisti.
9 Myrrh and balsam and cinnamon perfume your garments, from the houses of ivory. From these, they have delighted you:	9 In Deo gloriabimur tota die et in nomine tuo confitebimur in saeculum.
10 the daughters of kings in your honor. The queen assisted at your right hand, in clothing of gold, encircled with diversity.	10 Nunc autem reppulisti et confudisti nos et non egredieris, Deus, cum virtutibus nostris.
11 Listen, daughter, and see, and incline your ear. And forget your people and your father’s house.	11 Convertisti nos retrorsum coram inimicis nostris; et, qui oderunt nos, diripuerunt sibi.
12 And the king will desire your beauty. For he is the Lord your God, and they will adore him.	12 Dedisti nos tamquam oves ad vescendum et in gentibus dispersisti nos.
13 And the daughters of Tyre will entreat your countenance with gifts: all the rich men of the people.	13 Vendidisti populum tuum sine lucro nec ditior factus es in commutatione eorum.
14 All the glory of the daughter of its king is inside, in golden fringes,	14 Posuisti nos opprobrium vicinis nostris, subsannationem et derisum his, qui sunt in circuitu nostro.
15 clothed all around with diversities. After her, virgins will be led to the king. Her neighbors will be brought to you.	15 Posuisti nos similitudinem in gentibus, commotionem capitis in populis.
16 They will be brought with gladness and exultation. They will be led into the temple of the king.	16 Tota die verecundia mea contra me est, et confusio faciei meae cooperuit me
17 For your fathers, sons have been born to you. You will establish them as leaders over all the earth.	17 a voce exprobrantis et obloquentis, a facie inimici et ultoris.
18 They will remember your name always, for generation after generation. Because of this, people will confess to you in eternity, even forever and ever.	18 Haec omnia venerunt super nos, nec obliti sumus te et inique non egimus in testamentum tuum.
	19 Et non recessit retro cor nostrum, nec declinaverunt gressus nostri a via tua;
	20 sed humiliasti nos in loco vulpium et operuisti nos umbra mortis.
	21 Si obliti fuerimus nomen Dei nostri et si expanderimus manus nostras ad deum alienum,
	22 nonne Deus requiret ista? Ipse enim novit abscondita cordis.
	23 Quoniam propter te mortificamur tota die, aestimati sumus sicut oves occisionis.
	24 Evigila, quare obdormis, Domine? Exsurge et ne repellas in finem.
	25 Quare faciem tuam avertis, oblivisceris inopiae nostrae et tribulationis nostrae?
	26 Quoniam humiliata est in pulvere anima nostra, conglutinatus est in terra venter noster. Exsurge, Domine, adiuva nos et redime nos propter misericordiam tuam.
