1 These are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth, and of the sons who were born to them after the great flood.	1 Dies ist der Stammbaum der Noahsöhne, Sem, Ham und Japheth; Söhne wurden ihnen erst nach der Sintflut geboren.
2 The sons of Japheth were Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.	2 Die Söhne Japheths (= die Japhethiten) waren: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Jawan, Thubal, Mesech und Thiras.
3 And then the sons of Gomer were Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.	3 Die Söhne Gomers waren: Askenas, Riphath und Thogarma.
4 And the sons of Javan were Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Rodanim.	4 Und die Söhne Jawans: Elisa und Tharsis, die Kitthiter und die Dodaniter.
5 The islands of the Gentiles were divided by these into their regions, each one according to his tongue, and their families in their nations.	5 Von diesen aus haben sich die Bewohner der Meeresländer der (heidnischen) Völker abgezweigt. Dies sind die Söhne (= Nachkommen) Japheths nach ihren Ländern, jeder nach seiner Sprache, nach ihren Geschlechtern (oder: Stämmen), nach ihren Völkerschaften.
6 And the Sons of Ham were Cush, and Mizraim, and Put, and Canaan.	6 Die Söhne Hams (= die Hamiten) waren: Kusch, Mizraim, Put und Kanaan.
7 And the sons of Cush were Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah were Sheba and Dadan.	7 Und die Söhne Kuschs: Seba, Hawila, Sabtha, Ragma und Sabthecha; und die Söhne Ragmas: Seban und Dedan. –
8 And then Cush conceived Nimrod; he began to be powerful on the earth.	8 Kusch war der Vater Nimrods; dieser wurde der erste Gewalthaber auf der Erde.
9 And he was an able hunter before the Lord. From this, a proverb came forth: ‘Just like Nimrod, an able hunter before the Lord.’	9 Er war ein gewaltiger Jäger vor dem HERRN; darum pflegt man zu sagen: »Ein gewaltiger Jäger vor dem HERRN wie Nimrod.«
10 And so, the beginning of his kingdom was Babylon, and Erech, and Accad, and Chalanne, in the land of Shinar.	10 Den Anfang seines Königtums (oder: Reiches) bildeten Babel, Erech, Akkad und Kalne im Lande Sinear (d.h. Babylonien).
11 From that land, Assur came forth, and he built Nineveh, and the streets of the city, and Calah,	11 Von diesem Lande zog er nach Assur (= Assyrien) und erbaute Ninive, Rehoboth-Ir und Kalah,
12 and also Resen, between Nineveh and Calah. This is a great city.	12 dazu Resen zwischen Ninive und Kalah, das ist die große Stadt. –
13 And truly, Mizraim conceived Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, Naphtuhim,	13 Von Mizraim sodann stammen die Luditer, Anamiter, Lehabiter, Naphthuchiter,
14 and Pathrusim, and Casluhim, from whom came forth the Philistines and the Caphtorim.	14 Pathrusiter, Kasluchiter und Kaphthoriter, von denen die Philister ausgegangen sind. –
15 Then Canaan conceived Sidon his firstborn, the Hittite,	15 Kanaan aber hatte zu Söhnen Sidon, seinen Erstgeborenen, und Heth,
16 and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, the Girgashite,	16 ferner die Jebusiter, Amoriter, Girgasiter,
17 the Hivite, and the Arkite: the Sinite,	17 Hewiter, Arkiter, Siniter,
18 and the Arvadian, the Samarite, and the Hamathite. And after this, the peoples of the Canaanites became widespread.	18 Arwaditer, Zemariter und Hamathiter. Später haben sich dann die Geschlechter (oder: Stämme) der Kanaaniter zerstreut,
19 And the borders of Chanaan went, as one travels, from Sidon to Gerar, even to Gaza, until one enters Sodom and Gomorrah, and from Admah and Zeboiim, even to Lesa.	19 so daß das Gebiet der Kanaaniter von Sidon in der Richtung auf Gerar bis Gaza, dann in der Richtung auf Sodom und Gomorrha, Adma und Zeboim bis Lesa reichte.
20 These are the sons of Ham in their kindred, and tongues, and generations, and lands, and nations.	20 Dies sind die Söhne (= Nachkommen) Hams nach ihren Stämmen, ihren Sprachen, ihren Ländern, ihren Völkerschaften.
21 Likewise, from Shem, the father of all the sons of Heber, the elder brother of Japheth, sons were born.	21 Aber auch dem Sem, dem Stammvater aller Söhne Ebers, dem älteren Bruder Japheths, wurden Söhne geboren.
22 The sons of Shem were Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.	22 Die Söhne Sems (= die Semiten) waren: Elam, Assur, Arpachsad, Lud und Aram.
23 The sons of Aram were Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.	23 Und die Söhne Arams waren: Uz, Hul, Gether und Mas.
24 But truly, Arphaxad conceived Shelah, from whom was born Eber.	24 Arpachsad aber war der Vater Selahs und Selah der Vater Ebers.
25 And to Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days the earth became divided, and his brother’s name was Joktan.	25 Dem Eber aber wurden zwei Söhne geboren; der eine hieß Peleg (d.h. Teilung), weil sich die Erde (oder: Erdbevölkerung) zu seiner Zeit teilte; und sein Bruder hieß Joktan.
26 This Joktan conceived Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, Jerah	26 Joktan hatte zu Söhnen Almodad, Seleph, Hazarmaweth, Jerah,
27 and Hadoram, and Uzal and Diklah,	27 Hadoram, Usal, Dikla,
28 and Obal and Abimael, Sheba	28 Obal, Abimael, Seba,
29 and Ophir, and Havilah and Jobab. All these were the sons of Joktan.	29 Ophir, Hawila und Jobab; diese alle waren Söhne Joktans,
30 And their habitation extended from Messa, as one sojourns, even to Sephar, a mountain in the east.	30 und ihre Wohnsitze erstreckten sich von Mesa in der Richtung auf Sephar bis zum Ostgebirge.
31 These are the sons of Shem according to their kindred, and tongues, and the regions within their nations.	31 Dies sind die Söhne (= Nachkommen) Sems nach ihren Geschlechtern (oder: Stämmen), nach ihren Sprachen, ihren Ländern, ihren Völkerschaften.
32 These are the families of Noah, according to their peoples and nations. The nations became divided according to these, on the earth after the great flood.	32 Dies sind die Geschlechter (oder: Stämme) der Söhne (= Nachkommen) Noahs nach ihrer Abstammung, nach ihren Völkerschaften; und von ihnen aus haben sich die Völker auf der Erde nach der Sintflut abgezweigt.
