Hebrews 4

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Let us beware, then: since the promise never lapses, none of you must think that he has come too latefor the promise of entering his place of rest.	1 Temamos, entonces, mientras permanece en vigor la promesa de entrar en el Reposo de Dios, no sea que alguno de ustedes se vea excluido.
2 We received the gospel exactly as they did; but hearing the message did them no good because theydid not share the faith of those who did listen.	2 Porque también nosotros, como ellos, hemos recibido una buena noticia; pero la Palabra que ellos oyeron no les sirvió de nada, porque no se unieron por la fe a aquellos que la aceptaron.
3 We, however, who have faith, are entering a place of rest, as in the text: And then in my anger I sworethat they would never enter my place of rest. Now God's work was al finished at the beginning of the world;	3 Nosotros, en cambio, los que hemos creído, vamos hacia aquel Reposo del cual se dijo: "Entonces juré en mi indignación: Jamás entrarán en mi Reposo". En realidad, las obras de Dio estaban concluidas desde la creación del mundo,
4 as one text says, referring to the seventh day: And God rested on the seventh day after all the work hehad been doing.	4 ya que en cierto pasaje se dice acerca del séptimo día de la creación: Y Dios descansó de todas sus obras en el séptimo día;
5 And, again, the passage above says: They will never reach my place of rest.	5 y en este, a su vez, se dice: Jamás entrarán en mi Reposo.
6 It remains the case, then, that there would be some people who would reach it, and since those whofirst heard the good news were prevented from entering by their refusal to believe,	6 Ahora bien, sabemos que la entrada a ese Reposo está reservada a algunos, y que los primeros que recibieron la buena noticia no entraron en él, a causa de su desobediencia.
7 God fixed another day, a Today, when he said through David in the text already quoted: If only youwould listen to him today; do not harden your hearts.	7 Por eso, Dios nuevamente fija un día –un hoy– cuando muchos años después, dice por boca de David las palabras ya citadas: "Si hoy escuchan su voz, no endurezcan su corazón".
8 If Joshua had led them into this place of rest, God would not later have spoken of another day.	8 Porque si Josué hubiera introducido a los israelitas en ese Reposo, Dios no habría hablado después acerca de otro día.
9 There must stil be, therefore, a seventh-day rest reserved for God's people,	9 Queda, por lo tanto, reservado un Reposo, el del séptimo día, para el Pueblo de Dios.
10 since to enter the place of rest is to rest after your work, as God did after his.	10 Y aquel que entra en el Reposo de Dios descansa de sus trabajos, como Dios descansó de los suyos.
11 Let us, then, press forward to enter this place of rest, or some of you might copy this example ofrefusal to believe and be lost.	11 Esforcémonos, entonces, por entrar en ese Reposo, a fin de que nadie caiga imitando aquel ejemplo de desobediencia.
12 The word of God is something alive and active: it cuts more incisively than any two-edged sword: itcan seek out the place where soul is divided from spirit, or joints from marrow; it can pass judgement on secretemotions and thoughts.	12 Porque la Palabra de Dios es viva y eficaz, y más cortante que cualquier espada de doble filo: ella penetra hasta la raíz del alma y del espíritu, de las articulaciones y de la médula, y discierne los pensamientos y las intenciones del corazón.
13 No created thing is hidden from him; everything is uncovered and stretched fully open to the eyes ofthe one to whom we must give account of ourselves.	13 Ninguna cosa creada escapa a su vista, sino que todo está desnudo y descubierto a los ojos de aquel a quien debemos rendir cuentas.
14 Since in Jesus, the Son of God, we have the supreme high priest who has gone through to the highestheaven, we must hold firm to our profession of faith.	14 Y ya que tenemos en Jesús, el Hijo de Dios, un Sumo Sacerdote insigne que penetró en el cielo, permanezcamos firmes en la confesión de nuestra fe.
15 For the high priest we have is not incapable of feeling our weaknesses with us, but has been put tothe test in exactly the same way as ourselves, apart from sin.	15 Porque no tenemos un Sumo Sacerdote incapaz de compadecerse de nuestras debilidades; al contrario él fue sometido a las mismas pruebas que nosotros, a excepción del pecado.
16 Let us, then, have no fear in approaching the throne of grace to receive mercy and to find grace whenwe are in need of help.	16 Vayamos, entonces, confiadamente al trono de la gracia, a fin de obtener misericordia y alcanzar la gracia de un auxilio oportuno.
