Hebrews 12

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 With so many witnesses in a great cloud all around us, we too, then, should throw off everything thatweighs us down and the sin that clings so closely, and with perseverance keep running in the race which liesahead of us.	1 Dunque anche noi, dal momento che abbiamo una tale nube di testimoni che ci circonda, con pazienza corriamo la gara che ci viene messa innanzi, dopo aver deposto tutto ciò che appesantisce e il peccato che ci irretisce,
2 Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, who leads us in our faith and brings it to perfection: for the sakeof the joy which lay ahead of him, he endured the cross, disregarding the shame of it, and has taken his seat atthe right of God's throne.	2 avendo lo sguardo fisso su Gesù, autore e consumatore della fede, il quale, in luogo della gioia che gli si proponeva davanti, si sottopose alla croce, sprezzando l'ignominia, e ora siede alla destra del trono di Dio.
3 Think of the way he persevered against such opposition from sinners and then you will not lose heartand come to grief.	3 Infatti ripensate a colui che ha sofferto in se stesso siffatta contraddizione, da parte dei peccatori, per non stancarvi, lasciandovi intorpidire nelle anime vostre.
4 In the fight against sin, you have not yet had to keep fighting to the point of bloodshed.	4 Finora non avete, nella lotta contro il peccato, resistito fino al sangue,
5 Have you forgotten that encouraging text in which you are addressed as sons? My son, do not scorncorrection from the Lord, do not resent his training,	5 e vi siete dimenticati dell'esortazione che si rivolge a voi, come a figli: Figlio mio, non disprezzare la correzione del Signore e non ti scoraggiare quando sei da lui ripreso.
6 for the Lord trains those he loves, and chastises every son he accepts.	6 Il Signore infatti corregge colui che ama e frusta ogni figlio che egli accoglie.
7 Perseverance is part of your training; God is treating you as his sons. Has there ever been any sonwhose father did not train him?	7 Per correzione voi soffrite. Dio si presenta a voi come a figli: qual è il figlio che il padre non corregge?
8 If you were not getting this training, as all of you are, then you would be not sons but bastards.	8 Se invece siete senza correzione, della quale tutti sono diventati partecipi, allora siete dei bastardi e non figli.
9 Besides, we have all had our human fathers who punished us, and we respected them for it; al themore readily ought we to submit to the Father of spirits, and so earn life.	9 Noi avevamo come correttori i padri della nostra carne e li veneravamo. Non saremo molto di più sottomessi a Dio, padre degli spiriti, per avere la vita?
10 Our human fathers were training us for a short life and according to their own lights; but he does it al for our own good, so that we may share his own holiness.	10 Infatti quelli ci correggevano per pochi giorni, secondo ciò che loro sembrava bene; egli invece per il nostro vantaggio, per farci partecipare alla sua santità.
11 Of course, any discipline is at the time a matter for grief, not joy; but later, in those who haveundergone it, it bears fruit in peace and uprightness.	11 Ogni correzione sul momento, è vero, non appare causa di gioia, ma più tardi porta in cambio un frutto pacifico di giustizia a quelli che sono esercitati da essa.
12 So steady al weary hands and trembling knees	12 Perciò raddrizzate le mani inerti e le ginocchia paralizzate,
13 and make your crooked paths straight; then the injured limb wil not be maimed, it wil get betterinstead.	13 e fate dritti i sentieri per i vostri piedi, perché ciò che è zoppo non abbia a deviare, ma piuttosto sia guarito.
14 Seek peace with al people, and the holiness without which no one can ever see the Lord.	14 Perseguite la pace con tutti e la santificazione, senza la quale nessuno potrà vedere il Signore,
15 Be careful that no one is deprived of the grace of God and that no root of bitterness should begin togrow and make trouble; this can poison a large number.	15 vigilando perché nessuno sia mancante alla grazia di Dio, perché non nasca alcuna radice amara e diventi causa di torbidi, e per mezzo di questa non siano infettati molti.
16 And be careful that there is no immoral person, or anyone worldly minded like Esau, who sold hisbirthright for one single meal.	16 Nessuno sia fornicatore né profanatore, come Esaù, che per una vivanda rinunziò ai suoi diritti di primogenitura.
17 As you know, when he wanted to obtain the blessing afterwards, he was rejected and, though hepleaded for it with tears, he could find no way of reversing the decision.	17 Sapete infatti che in seguito, volendo egli ereditare la benedizione, fu rigettato; infatti non trovò luogo a pentimento, nonostante che con lacrime cercasse di ottenerlo.
18 What you have come to is nothing known to the senses: not a blazing fire, or gloom or totaldarkness, or a storm;	18 Voi infatti non vi siete avvicinati a qualcosa di palpabile e a un fuoco ardente né a oscurità, tenebra e procella,
19 or trumpet-blast or the sound of a voice speaking which made everyone that heard it beg that nomore should be said to them.	19 né a squillo di tromba e a suono di parole, tale che quelli che l'udirono supplicarono che non si rivolgesse più loro parola.
20 They could not bear the order that was given: If even a beast touches the mountain, it must bestoned.	20 Essi infatti non riuscivano a sopportare l'ordine: Anche se un animale tocca la montagna, sia lapidato.
21 The whole scene was so terrible that Moses said, 'I am afraid and trembling.'	21 E Mosè, tanto era terribile lo spettacolo, disse: Io sono spaventato e tremante.
22 But what you have come to is Mount Zion and the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalemwhere the mil ions of angels have gathered for the festival,	22 Al contrario vi siete avvicinati al monte Sion, alla città del Dio vivente, alla Gerusalemme celeste e alle miriadi di angeli, ceto trionfante
23 with the whole Church of first-born sons, enrolled as citizens of heaven. You have come to Godhimself, the supreme Judge, and to the spirits of the upright who have been made perfect;	23 e assemblea dei primogeniti iscritti nei cieli, a Dio giudice di tutti e agli spiriti dei giusti, giunti al perfezionamento,
24 and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to purifying blood which pleads more insistentlythan Abel's.	24 a Gesù, mediatore di una alleanza nuova, e al sangue di aspersione che parla meglio di quello di Abele.
25 Make sure that you never refuse to listen when he speaks. If the people who on earth refused tolisten to a warning could not escape their punishment, how shal we possibly escape if we turn away from avoice that warns us from heaven?	25 Fate attenzione a non rifiutare colui che parla. Se infatti costoro non sfuggirono per avere rifiutato colui che promulgava oracoli sulla terra, molto meno noi, se ci ritiriamo da colui che ci parla dal cielo,
26 That time his voice made the earth shake, but now he has given us this promise: I am going to shakethe earth once more and not only the earth but heaven as wel .	26 la cui voce allora scosse la terra. Ora invece ha fatto questa promessa: Ancora una volta io farò tremare non solo la terra, ma anche il cielo.
27 The words once more indicate the removal of what is shaken, since these are created things, so thatwhat is not shaken remains.	27 Quell'ancora una volta mostra il cambiamento delle cose che vengono scosse, in quanto create, affinché rimangano quelle che non vengono scosse.
28 We have been given possession of an unshakeable kingdom. Let us therefore be grateful and useour gratitude to worship God in the way that pleases him, in reverence and fear.	28 Perciò noi, che riceviamo il regno che non può venire scosso, riteniamo la grazia, per mezzo della quale prestiamo a Dio il culto, in modo che piaccia a lui, con rispetto e timore.
29 For our God is a consuming fire.	29 Infatti il nostro Dio è un fuoco che consuma.
