2 Corinthians 5

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 For we are well aware that when the tent that houses us on earth is folded up, there is a house for usfrom God, not made by human hands but everlasting, in the heavens.	1 Nosotros sabemos, en efecto, que si esta tienda de campaña –nuestra morada terrenal– es destruida, tenemos una casa permanente en el cielo, no construida por el hombre, sino por Dios.
2 And in this earthly state we do indeed groan,	2 Por eso, ahora gemimos deseando ardientemente revestirnos de aquella morada celestial;
3 longing to put on our heavenly home over the present one; if indeed we are to be found clothed ratherthan stripped bare.	3 porque una vez que nos hayamos revestido en ella, ya no nos encontraremos desnudos.
4 Yes, indeed, in this present tent, we groan under the burden, not that we want to be stripped of ourcovering, but because we want to be covered with a second garment on top, so that what is mortal in us may beswal owed up by life.	4 Mientras estamos en esta tienda de campaña, gemimos angustiosamente, porque no queremos ser desvestidos, sino revestirnos, a fin de que lo que es mortal sea absorbido por la vida.
5 It is God who designed us for this very purpose, and he has given us the Spirit as a pledge.	5 Y aquel que nos destinó para esto es el mismo Dios que nos dio las primicias del Espíritu.
6 We are always ful of confidence, then, realising that as long as we are at home in the body we areexiled from the Lord,	6 Por eso, nos sentimos plenamente seguros, sabiendo que habitar en este cuerpo es vivir en el exilio, lejos del Señor;
7 guided by faith and not yet by sight;	7 porque nosotros caminamos en la fe y todavía no vemos claramente.
8 we are ful of confidence, then, and long instead to be exiled from the body and to be at home with theLord.	8 Sí, nos sentimos plenamente seguros, y por eso, preferimos dejar este cuerpo para estar junto al Señor;
9 And so whether at home or exiled, we make it our ambition to please him.	9 en definitiva, sea que vivamos en este cuerpo o fuera de él, nuestro único deseo es agradarlo.
10 For at the judgement seat of Christ we are al to be seen for what we are, so that each of us mayreceive what he has deserved in the body, matched to whatever he has done, good or bad.	10 Porque todos debemos comparecer ante el tribunal de Cristo, para que cada uno reciba, de acuerdo con sus obras buenas o malas, lo que mereció durante su vida mortal.
11 And so it is with the fear of the Lord always in mind that we try to win people over. But God sees us forwhat we are, and I hope your consciences do too.	11 Por lo tanto, compenetrados del temor del Señor, tratamos de persuadir a los hombres. Dios ya nos conoce plenamente, y espero que también ustedes nos conozcan de la misma manera.
12 Again we are saying this not to commend ourselves to you, but simply to give you the opportunity totake pride in us, so that you may have an answer for those who take pride in appearances and not inner reality.	12 No pretendemos volver a recomendarnos delante de ustedes: solamente queremos darles un motivo para que se sientan orgullosos de nosotros y puedan responder a los que se glorían de lo exterior y no de lo que hay en el corazón.
13 If we have been unreasonable, it was for God; if reasonable, for you.	13 En efecto, si hemos procedido como insensatos, lo hicimos por Dios; y si somos razonables, es por ustedes.
14 For the love of Christ overwhelms us when we consider that if one man died for all, then al have died;	14 Porque el amor de Cristo nos apremia, al considerar que si uno solo murió por todos, entonces todos han muerto.
15 his purpose in dying for all humanity was that those who live should live not any more for themselves,but for him who died and was raised to life.	15 Y él murió por todos, a fin de que los que viven no vivan más para sí mismos, sino para aquel que murió y resucitó por ellos.
16 From now onwards, then, we wil not consider anyone by human standards: even if we were oncefamiliar with Christ according to human standards, we do not know him in that way any longer.	16 Por eso nosotros, de ahora en adelante, ya no conocemos a nadie con criterios puramente humanos; y si conocimos a Cristo de esa manera, ya no lo conocemos más así.
17 So for anyone who is in Christ, there is a new creation: the old order is gone and a new being is thereto see.	17 El que vive en Cristo es una nueva criatura: lo antiguo ha desaparecido, un ser nuevo se ha hecho presente.
18 It is all God's work; he reconciled us to himself through Christ and he gave us the ministry ofreconciliation.	18 Y todo esto procede de Dios, que nos reconcilió con él por intermedio de Cristo y nos confió el ministerio de la reconciliación.
19 I mean, God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself, not holding anyone's faults against them,but entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.	19 Porque es Dios el que estaba en Cristo, reconciliando al mundo consigo, no teniendo en cuenta los pecados de los hombres, y confiándonos la palabra de la reconciliación.
20 So we are ambassadors for Christ; it is as though God were urging you through us, and in the name ofChrist we appeal to you to be reconciled to God.	20 Nosotros somos, entonces, embajadores de Cristo, y es Dios el que exhorta a los hombres por intermedio nuestro. Por eso, les suplicamos en nombre de Cristo: Déjense reconciliar con Dios.
21 For our sake he made the sinless one a victim for sin, so that in him we might become the uprightnessof God.	21 A aquel que no conoció el pecado, Dios lo identificó con el pecado en favor nuestro, a fin de que nosotros seamos justificados por él.
