Romans 14

NEW JERUSALEM	DIODATI
1 Give a welcome to anyone whose faith is not strong, but do not get into arguments about doubtfulpoints.	1 OR accogliete quel che è debole in fede; ma non già a quistioni di dispute.
2 One person may have faith enough to eat any kind of food; another, less strong, wil eat onlyvegetables.	2 L’uno crede di poter mangiar d’ogni cosa; ma l’altro, che è debole, mangia dell’erbe.
3 Those who feel free to eat freely are not to condemn those who are unwil ing to eat freely; nor mustthe person who does not eat freely pass judgement on the one who does -- because God has welcomed him.	3 Colui che mangia non isprezzi colui che non mangia, e colui che non mangia non giudichi colui che mangia; poichè Iddio l’ha preso a sè.
4 And who are you, to sit in judgement over somebody else's servant? Whether he deserves to beupheld or to fall is for his own master to decide; and he shal be upheld, for the Lord has power to uphold him.	4 Chi sei tu, che giudichi il famiglio altrui? egli sta ritto, o cade, al suo proprio Signore, ma sarà raffermato, perciocchè Iddio è potente da raffermarlo.
5 One person thinks that some days are holier than others, and another thinks them al equal. Let eachof them be ful y convinced in his own mind.	5 L’uno stima un giorno più che l’altro; e l’altro stima tutti i giorni pari; ciascuno sia appieno accertato nella sua mente.
6 The one who makes special observance of a particular day observes it in honour of the Lord. So theone who eats freely, eats in honour of the Lord, making his thanksgiving to God; and the one who does not,abstains from eating in honour of the Lord and makes his thanksgiving to God.	6 Chi ha divozione al giorno ve l’ha al Signore; e chi non ha alcuna divozione al giorno non ve l’ha al Signore. E chi mangia, mangia al Signore; perciocchè egli rende grazie a Dio; e chi non mangia non mangia al Signore, e pur rende grazie a Dio.
7 For none of us lives for himself and none of us dies for himself;	7 Poichè niun di noi vive a sè stesso, nè muore a sè stesso.
8 while we are alive, we are living for the Lord, and when we die, we die for the Lord: and so, alive ordead, we belong to the Lord.	8 Perciocchè, se pur viviamo, viviamo al Signore; e se moriamo, moriamo al Signore; dunque, o che viviamo, o che moriamo, siamo del Signore.
9 It was for this purpose that Christ both died and came to life again: so that he might be Lord of boththe dead and the living.	9 Imperocchè a questo fine Cristo è morto, e risuscitato, e tornato a vita, acciocchè egli signoreggi e sopra i morti, e sopra e vivi.
10 Why, then, does one of you make himself judge over his brother, and why does another among youdespise his brother? Al of us wil have to stand in front of the judgement-seat of God:	10 Or tu, perchè giudichi il tuo fratello? ovvero tu ancora, perchè sprezzi il tuo fratello? poichè tutti abbiamo a comparire davanti al tribunal di Cristo.
11 as scripture says: By my own life says the Lord, every knee shal bow before me, every tongue shalgive glory to God.	11 Perciocchè egli è scritto: Come io vivo, dice il Signore, ogni ginocchio si piegherà davanti a me, ed ogni lingua darà gloria a Dio.
12 It is to God, then, that each of us will have to give an account of himself.	12 Così adunque ciascun di noi renderà ragion di sè stesso a Dio.
13 Let us each stop passing judgement, therefore, on one another and decide instead that none of uswil place obstacles in any brother's way, or anything that can bring him down.	13 PERCIÒ, non giudichiamo più gli uni gli altri; ma più tosto giudicate questo, di non porre intoppo, o scandalo al fratello.
14 I am sure, and quite convinced in the Lord Jesus, that no food is unclean in itself; it is only ifsomeone classifies any kind of food as unclean, then for him it is unclean.	14 Io so, e son persuaso nel Signor Gesù, che niuna cosa per sè stessa è immonda; ma, a chi stima alcuna cosa essere immonda, ad esso è immonda.
15 And indeed, if through any kind of food you are causing offence to a brother, then you are no longerbeing guided by love. You are not to let the food that you eat cause the ruin of anyone for whom Christ died.	15 Ma, se il tuo fratello è contristato per lo cibo, tu non cammini più secondo carità; non far, col tuo cibo, perir colui per cui Cristo è morto.
16 A privilege of yours must not be allowed to give rise to harmful talk;	16 Il vostro bene adunque non sia bestemmiato.
17 for it is not eating and drinking that make the kingdom of God, but the saving justice, the peace andthe joy brought by the Holy Spirit.	17 Perciocchè il regno di Dio non è vivanda, nè bevanda; ma giustizia, e pace, e letizia nello Spirito Santo.
18 It is the person who serves Christ in these things that wil be approved by God and respected byeveryone.	18 Perciocchè, chi in queste cose serve a Cristo è grato a Dio, ed approvato dagli uomini.
19 So then, let us be always seeking the ways which lead to peace and the ways in which we cansupport one another.	19 Procacciamo adunque le cose che son della pace, e della scambievole edificazione.
20 Do not wreck God's work for the sake of food. Certainly al foods are clean; but al the same, anykind can be evil for someone to whom it is an offence to eat it.	20 Non disfar l’opera di Dio per la vivanda; ben sono tutte le cose pure; ma vi è male per l’uomo che mangia con intoppo.
21 It is best to abstain from eating any meat, or drinking any wine, or from any other activity whichmight cause a brother to fall away, or to be scandalised, or to weaken.	21 Egli è bene non mangiar carne, e non ber vino, e non far cosa alcuna, nella quale il tuo fratello s’intoppa, o è scandalezzato, o è debole.
22 Within yourself, before God, hold on to what you already believe. Blessed is the person whoseprinciples do not condemn his practice.	22 Tu, hai tu fede? abbila in te stesso, davanti a Dio; beato chi non condanna sè stesso in ciò ch’egli discerne.
23 But anyone who eats with qualms of conscience is condemned, because this eating does not spring from faith -- and every action which does not spring from faith is sin.	23 Ma colui che sta in dubbio, se mangia, è condannato; perciocchè non mangia con fede; or tutto ciò che non è di fede è peccato
