Deuteronomy 29

NEW JERUSALEM	Biblia Matos Soares
1 Moses called all Israel together and said to them: 'You have seen everything that Yahweh did beforeyour eyes in Egypt, to Pharaoh, to his servants and to his whole country-	1 Estas são as palavras da aliança que o Senhor mandou a Moisés que fizesse com os filhos de Israel na terra de Moab, além da aliança que fez com eles em Horeb.
2 the great ordeals which you yourselves witnessed, those signs and the great wonders.	2 Moisés convocou todo o Israel e disse-lhe: Vós vistes tudo o que o Senhor fez diante de vós na terra do Egipto, a Faraó, a todos os seus servos e a todo o seu reino,
3 But until today Yahweh has not given you a heart to understand, eyes to see, or ears to hear.	3 as grandes provas que se desenrolaram diante de teus olhos, esses sinais e grandes prodígios.
4 'I have been leading you for forty years in the desert, yet the clothes which you have been wearinghave not worn out, nor have the sandals on your feet.	4 Porém, até ao dia presente, o Senhor não vos deu um coração que entenda, nem olhos que vejam, nem ouvidos que possam ouvir.
5 You have had no bread to eat, you have had no wine or fermented liquor to drink, so that you wouldlearn that I, Yahweh, am your God.	5 Ele vos conduziu quarenta anos pelo deserto; as vossas vestes não se romperam, nem os sapatos dos vossos pés se gastaram com a velhice.
6 'When you reached this place, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan came out to do battleagainst us; we defeated them.	6 Não comestes pão, nem bebestes vinho ou outro licor fermentado, para que soubésseis que eu sou o Senhor vosso Deus.
7 We conquered their country and gave it as heritage to Reuben, Gad and the half-tribe of Manasseh.	7 Assim chegastes a este lugar Seon, rei de Hesebon, e Og, rei de Basan, marcharam contra nós para nos combater. Nós os derrotámos,
8 'Keep the words of this covenant, put them into practice, and you wil thrive in everything you do.	8 tomámos o seu país, te demos a sua propriedade a Ruben, a Gad e à meia tribo de Manassés.
9 'Al of you are standing here today in the presence of Yahweh your God: your tribal leaders, yourelders, your scribes, al the men of Israel,	9 Observai, pois, as palavras desta aliança, cumpri-as, a fim de assegurardes o feliz êxito de tudo o que empreenderdes.
10 with your children and your wives (and the foreigner too who is in your camp, be he your wood-cutteror your water-carrier),	10 Vós estais hoje todos diante do Senhor vosso Deus, os vossos chefes, as vossas tribos, os anciães, os oficiais, todos varões de Israel.
11 and you are about to pass into the covenant of Yahweh your God, sworn with imprecation, which hehas made with you today,	11 os vossos filhos e as vossas mulheres, e o estrangeiro que mora contigo no acampamento, desde os que cortam lenha, aos que acarretam água;
12 and by which, today, he makes you a nation for himself and he himself becomes a God to you, as hehas promised you, and as he swore to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.	12 (tu, ó Israel, estás diante do Senhor) para entrar na aliança do Senhor teu Deus, no juramento que o Senhor teu Deus faz hoje contigo,
13 Not only on your behalf am I today making this covenant and pronouncing this solemn curse,	13 a fim de te escolher como seu povo, e ele próprio ser o teu Deus, como te disse, e como jurou a teus pais, Abraão, Isaac e Jacob.
14 not only on behalf of those standing here with us in the presence of Yahweh our God today, but alsoon behalf of those not here with us today.	14 Não só convosco faço esta aliança, e confirmo estes juramentos,
15 'Yes, you know the people with whom we used to live in Egypt, and those through whose countrieswe have travel ed -- the nations through whom we have passed.	15 faço-a com todos os presentes e ausentes.
16 You have seen their abominations and their idols made of wood and stone, silver and gold, whichwere there.	16 Vós sabeis de que modo habitamos na terra do Egipto, como passamos pelo meio das nações, como, ao passá-las,
17 'Let there be no man or woman of you, no clan or tribe, whose heart turns away from Yahweh yourGod today, to go and serve the gods of these nations. Among you let there be no root which bears poison orwormwood.	17 vistes as suas abominações e torpezas isto é, os seus ídolos, o pau e a pedra, a prata e o ouro, que elas adoravam.
18 If, after hearing this imprecation, anyone, blessing himself, should say in his heart, "I shall do wellenough if I fol ow the dictates of my heart; much water drives away thirst,"	18 Não haja entre vós homem ou mulher, família ou tribo, cujo coração esteja apartado do Senhor nosso Deus, de modo que vá servir os deuses daquelas nações; não haja entre vós raiz que produza fel e amargura.
19 Yahweh wil not pardon him. The wrath and jealousy of Yahweh wil blaze against such a person;every curse written in this book wil fal on him, and Yahweh will blot his name out under heaven.	19 Que ninguém, ao ouvir as palavras deste juramento, se lisonjeie no seu coração, dizendo: Eu terei paz, embora ande na depravação do meu coração, de sorte que o que está regado pereça com o que está seco.
20 Yahweh wil single him out of al the tribes of Israel for misfortune, in accordance with al the cursesof the covenant written in the book of this Law.	20 O Senhor lhe não perdoe, mas se inflame então mais o seu furor e zelo contra aquele homem, e se ponham sobre ele todas as maldições, que estão escritas neste livro, o Senhor apague o seu nome de debaixo do céu,
21 'The future generation, that of your children coming after you, and the foreigner arriving from somefar-away land, on seeing the plagues and diseases inflicted on this country by Yahweh, wil exclaim,	21 e o extermine para sempre de todas as tribos de Israel, conforme as maldições que estão contidas no livro da lei e da aliança.
22 "Sulphur! Salt!-The whole country is burning! No one wil sow, nothing grow, no vegetation springever again! Devastation like that of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboi m, devastated by Yahweh in hisfurious wrath!"	22 Dirão as gerações vindouras, os filhos que nascerem de vós, e os estrangeiros que vierem de longe, ao ver as pragas desta terra e as doenças, com que o Senhor a tiver afligido,
23 And al the nations wil exclaim, "Why has Yahweh treated this country like this? Why this great blazeof anger?"	23 abrasando-a com enxofre e ardor de sal, de modo que se não semeie jamais, nem se crie nela verdura, à semelhança da destruição de Sodoma e Gomorra, de Adama e Seboim, que o Senhor destruiu na sua ira e furor,
24 'And people wil say, "Because they deserted the covenant of Yahweh, God of their ancestors, thecovenant which he made with them when he brought them out of Egypt;	24 (como também) dirão todas as nações: Por que é que o Senhor fez assim a esta terra? Donde o ardor de tamanha cólera?
25 because they went and served other gods and worshipped them, gods hitherto unknown to them,gods that were no part of their heritage from him:	25 Ser-lhes-á respondido: Porque abandonaram o pacto que o Senhor tinha feito com os seus pais, quando os tirou da terra do Egipto,
26 this is why Yahweh's anger has blazed against this country, afflicting it with al the curses written inthis book.	26 e serviram a deuses estranhos, adoraram deuses que não conheciam, aos quais não estavam obrigados a submeter-se;
27 In anger, in fury, in fierce wrath, Yahweh has torn them from their own country and flung them intoanother country, where they are today."	27 por isso o furor do Senhor se acendeu contra esta terra, para fazer vir sobre ela todas as maldições que estão escritas neste livro,
28 Things hidden belong to Yahweh our God, but things revealed are ours and our children's for ever,so that we can put al the words of this Law into practice.'	28 e os expulsou da sua terra com ira e furor, com a maior indignação, e os atirou para uma terra estrangeira, como hoje se vê.
	29 As coisas ocultas são do Senhor nosso Deus, as manifestas são para nós e para os nossos filhos perpetuamente, para que ponhamos em prática todas as palavras desta lei.
