Deuteronomy 23

1 'A man must not take his father's wife; he must not withdraw the skirt of his father's cloak from her.	1 Nissuno sposerà la moglie del proprio padre, e non le farà disonore.
2 'A man whose testicles have been crushed or whose male member has been cut off must not beadmitted to the assembly of Yahweh.	2 L'eunuco, a cui sono state contuse, o tagliate, o strappate le parti, non avrà luogo nella congregazione del Signore.
3 No half-breed may be admitted to the assembly of Yahweh; not even his descendants to the tenthgeneration may be admitted to the assembly of Yahweh.	3 Il bastardo, vale a dire colui che è nato da una donna di mala vita, non avrà luogo nella congregazione del Signore sino alla decima generazione.
4 No Ammonite or Moabite may be admitted to the assembly of Yahweh; not even his descendants tothe tenth generation may be admitted to the assembly of Yahweh, and this is for all time;	4 Gli Ammoniti, e i Moabiti non entreranno giammai nella congregazione del Signore, nemmen dopo la decima generazione;
5 since they did not come to meet you with food and drink when you were on your way out of Egypt, andeven hired Balaam son of Beor to oppose you by cursing you, from Pethor in Aram Naharaim.	5 Perché ei non vollero venirvi incontro con del pane, e dell'acqua nel viaggio, allorché voi uscivate dall'Egitto; e perché con doni corruppero in tuo danno Balaam figliuolo di Beor della Mesopotamia di Siria, affinché ti maledicesse:
6 But Yahweh your God refused to listen to Balaam, and Yahweh your God turned the curse on you intoa blessing, because Yahweh your God loved you.	6 E il Signore Dio tuo non volle fare a modo di Balaam, e cangiò la sua maledizione in benedizione, perché ti amava.
7 Never, as long as you live, must you seek their welfare or their prosperity.	7 Tu non farai pace con essi, e non farai loro del bene giammai per tutto il tempo di tua vita.
8 'You must not regard the Edomite as detestable, for he is your brother; you must not regard theEgyptian as detestable, since you were once a foreigner in his country.	8 Non avrai in abbominazione l'Idumeo, perché egli è tuo fratello: né l'Egiziano, perché tu fosti ospite nella sua terra.
9 The third generation of children born to these may be admitted to the assembly of Yahweh.	9 I discendenti di questi avran luogo nella congregazione del Signore alla terza generazione.
10 'When you are in camp, at war with your enemies, you must avoid anything bad.	10 Quando andrai a far guerra a' tuoi nemici, ti guarderai da ogni malvagità.
11 If any one of you is unclean by reason of a nocturnal emission, he must leave and not come backinto camp,	11 Se vi sarà tra voi alcuno, il quale si sia renduto immondo a causa d'un sogno notturno, andrà fuori degli alloggiamenti;
12 but towards evening wash himself, and return to camp at sunset.	12 E non vi tornerà, se non la sera lavatosi nell'acqua: e rientrerà negli alloggiamenti dopo che sia tramontato il sole.
13 'You must have a latrine outside the camp, and go out to this;	13 Avrai un luogo fuori degli alloggiamenti, dove andrai pe' bisogni naturali,
14 you must have a trowel in your equipment and, when you squat outside, you must scrape a hole withit, then turn round and cover up your excrement.	14 Portando un bastoncello a cintola: e quando avrai soddisfatto alla necessità, scaverai la terra d'intorno, e ricoprirai la materia, onde ti sei sgravato;
15 For Yahweh your God goes about the inside of your camp to guard you and put your enemies at yourmercy. Your camp must therefore be a holy place; Yahweh must not see anything indecent there or he willdesert you.	15 Conciossiaché il Signore Dio tuo va camminando in mezzo a' tuoi alloggiamenti per essere tuo liberatore, e darti nelle mani i tuoi nemici: onde fa' tu, che i tuoi alloggiamenti sieno mondi, e nulla vi si vegga d'impuro, affinché egli non ti volga le spalle.
16 'You must not allow a master to imprison a slave who has escaped from him and come to you.	16 Non darai nelle mani del padrone il servo, che si è rifuggito presso di te.
17 Let him make his home with you and yours, wherever he pleases in whichever of your towns heprefers; you must not molest him.	17 Egli abiterà teco nel luogo, che gli parrà, e avrà requie in una delle tue città: non lo inquietare.
18 'There must be no sacred prostitute among the women of Israel, and no sacred prostitute among themen of Israel.	18 Non v'avrà tra le figlie d'Israele donna di mala vita, né uomo fornicatore tra' figliuoli d'Israele.
19 You must not bring the wages of a prostitute or the earnings of a 'dog' to the house of Yahweh yourGod, whatever vow you may have made: both are detestable to Yahweh your God.	19 Non offerirai nella casa del Signore Dio tuo la mercede di prostituzione, né il prezzo di un cane per isciogliere qualunque voto: perocché l’una, e l’altro è cosa abbominevole negli occhi del Signore Dio tuo.
20 'You must not lend on interest to your brother, whether the loan be of money, of food, or of anythingelse that may earn interest.	20 Non impresterai ad usura né denaro, né grano, né qualsiasi altra cosa al tuo fratello:
21 You may demand interest on a loan to a foreigner, but you must not demand interest from yourbrother; so that Yahweh your God may bless you in al your labours, in the country which you are about to enterand make your own.	21 Ma allo straniero. Al tuo fratello poi impresterai senza usura quello che gli bisogna, affinché il Signore Dio tuo ti benedica in tutte le opere tue sulla terra, di cui tu entrerai in possesso.
22 'If you make a vow to Yahweh your God, you must not be slack about fulfil ing it: Yahweh your Godwil certainly hold you answerable for it and you wil incur guilt.	22 Quando avrai fatto un voto al Signore Dio tuo, non tarderai ad adempirlo: perocché il Signore Dio tuo te ne domanderà conto: e la lentezza ti sarà imputata a peccato.
23 If, however, you make no vow, you do not incur guilt.	23 Non avrai colpa, se non hai voluto promettere.
24 Whatever passes your lips you must keep to, and the vow that you have made to Yahweh, yourgenerous God, you must fulfil.	24 Ma quello che una volta hai pronunziato colla tua bocca, lo manterrai, e lo farai in quel modo, che promettesti al Signore Dio tuo, e dicesti di tua volontà, e di tua bocca.
25 'If you go into your neighbour's vineyard, you may eat as many grapes as you please, but you mustnot put any in your basket.	25 Entrando nelle vigne del prossimo tuo mangia dell'uve quanto ti pare: ma non portarne via.
26 If you go into your neighbour's standing corn, you may pick ears by hand, but you must not put asickle into your neighbour's corn.'	26 Se entrerai nelle biade del tuo amico, coglierai delle spighe, e le stritolerai colle mani, ma non mieterai colla falce.
