1 These were the stages of the journey made by the Israelites when they left Egypt in their companiesunder the leadership of Moses and Aaron.	1 Voici les étapes que parcoururent les Israélites lorsqu'ils furent sortis du pays d'Egypte selonleurs unités, sous la conduite de Moïse et d'Aaron.
2 Moses recorded their starting-points in writing whenever they moved on at Yahweh's order. Thestages, from one starting-point to another, were as fol ows:	2 Moïse consignait par écrit leurs points de départ quand ils partaient sur l'ordre de Yahvé. Voicileurs étapes par point de départ.
3 They left Rameses in the first month. It was the fifteenth day of the first month, the day following thePassover, when the Israelites confidently set out, under the eyes of al Egypt.	3 Ils partirent de Ramsès le premier mois. C'est le quinzième jour du premier mois, lendemain de laPâque, que les Israélites partirent la main haute, aux yeux de toute l'Egypte.
4 The Egyptians were burying those of their own people whom Yahweh had struck down, all the first-born; Yahweh had carried out his judgement on their gods.	4 Les Egyptiens ensevelissaient ceux des leurs que Yahvé avait frappés, tous les premiers-nés;Yahvé avait fait justice de leurs dieux.
5 The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth.	5 Les Israélites partirent de Ramsès et campèrent à Sukkot.
6 Then they left Succoth and encamped at Etham which is on the edge of the desert.	6 Puis ils partirent de Sukkot et campèrent à Etam, qui est aux confins du désert.
7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi-Hahiroth, opposite Baal-Zephon, and encamped before Migdol.	7 Ils partirent d'Etam, ils revinrent sur Pi-Hahirot, qui est en face de Baal-Cephôn, et campèrentdevant Migdol.
8 They left Pi-Hahiroth, crossed the sea into the desert, and after marching for three days in the desertof Etham they encamped at Marah.	8 Ils partirent de Pi-Hahirot, ils gagnèrent le désert en passant à travers la mer, et après trois joursde marche dans le désert d'Etam ils campèrent à Mara.
9 They left Marah and reached Elim. At Elim there were twelve springs of water and seventy palmtrees; they encamped there.	9 Ils partirent de Mara et arrivèrent à Elim. A Elim il y a douze sources d'eau et 70 palmiers; ilscampèrent là.
10 They left Elim and encamped by the Sea of Reeds.	10 Ils partirent d'Elim et campèrent près de la mer des Roseaux.
11 They left the Sea of Reeds and encamped in the desert of Sin.	11 Ils partirent de la mer des Roseaux et campèrent dans le désert de Sîn.
12 They left the desert of Sin and encamped at Dophkah.	12 Ils partirent du désert de Sîn et campèrent à Dophka.
13 They left Dophkah and encamped at Alush.	13 Ils partirent de Dophka et campèrent à Alush.
14 They left Alush and encamped at Rephidim; the people found no drinking water there.	14 Ils partirent d'Alush et campèrent à Rephidim; le peuple n'y trouva point d'eau à boire.
15 They left Rephidim and encamped in the desert of Sinai.	15 Ils partirent de Rephidim et campèrent dans le désert du Sinaï.

35 They left Abronah and encamped at Ezion-Geber.	35 Ils partirent de Abrona et campèrent à Eçyôn-Gébèr.
36 They left Ezion-Geber and encamped in the desert of Zin, that is, at Kadesh.	36 Ils partirent de Eçyôn-Gébèr et campèrent dans le désert de Cîn; c'est Cadès.
37 They left Kadesh and encamped at Mount Hor, on the borders of the land of Edom.	37 Ils partirent de Cadès et campèrent à Hor-la-Montagne, aux confins du pays d'Edom.
38 The priest Aaron went up Mount Hor on Yahweh's orders and died there in the fortieth year of theexodus of the Israelites from Egypt, in the fifth month, on the first day of the month.	38 Aaron, le prêtre, monta à Hor-la-Montagne sur l'ordre de Yahvé et c'est là qu'il mourut, dans laquarantième année de l'exode des Israélites hors du pays d'Egypte, au cinquième mois, le premier du mois.
39 Aaron was a hundred and twenty-three years old when he died on Mount Hor.	39 Aaron avait 123 ans lorsqu'il mourut à Hor-la-Montagne.
40 The king of Arad, the Canaanite who lived in the Negeb of Canaan, heard of the Israelites' arrival.	40 Le roi d'Arad, un Cananéen qui habitait le Négeb au pays de Canaan, fut informé lors del'arrivée des Israélites.
41 They left Mount Hor and encamped at Zalmonah.	41 Ils partirent de Hor-la-Montagne et campèrent à Calmona.
42 They left Zalmonah and encamped at Punon.	42 Ils partirent de Calmona et campèrent à Punôn.
43 They left Punon and encamped at Oboth.	43 Ils partirent de Punôn et campèrent à Obot.
44 They left Oboth and encamped in Moabite territory at Iye-Abarim.	44 Ils partirent de Obot et campèrent sur le territoire de Moab à Iyyé-ha-Abarim.
45 They left Iyim and encamped at Dibon-Gad.	45 Ils partirent de Iyyim et campèrent à Dibôn-Gad.
46 They left Dibon-Gad and encamped at Almon-Diblathaim.	46 Ils partirent de Dibôn-Gad et campèrent à Almôn-Diblatayim.
47 They left Almon-Diblathaim and encamped in the Abarim mountains facing Nebo.	47 Ils partirent de Almôn-Diblatayim et campèrent aux monts Abarim en face de Nebo.
48 They left the Abarim mountains and encamped on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan oppositeJericho.	48 Ils partirent des monts Abarim et campèrent aux Steppes de Moab, près du Jourdain versJéricho.
49 They encamped near the Jordan between Beth-ha-Jeshimoth and Abel-ha-Shittim, on the Plains ofMoab.	49 Ils campèrent près du Jourdain entre Bet-ha-Yeshimot et Abel-ha-Shittim, dans les Steppes deMoab.
50 Yahweh spoke to Moses on the Plains of Moab, near the Jordan by Jericho, and said:	50 Yahvé parla à Moïse, dans les Steppes de Moab, près du Jourdain vers Jéricho. Il dit:
51 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "When you have crossed the Jordan into Canaan,	51 "Parle aux Israélites; tu leur diras: Quand vous aurez passé le Jourdain vers le pays de Canaan,
52 you wil drive out al the local inhabitants before you. You wil destroy al their painted images, youwil destroy al their metal statues and you wil demolish al their high places.	52 vous chasserez devant vous tous les habitants du pays. Vous détruirez leurs images peintes,vous détruirez toutes leurs statues de métal fondu et vous saccagerez tous leurs hauts lieux.
53 You wil take possession of the country and settle in it, for I have given you the country as yourproperty.	53 Vous posséderez ce pays et vous y demeurerez, car je vous ai donné ce pays pour domaine.
54 You wil share it out by lot among your clans. To a large clan you wil give a larger heritage, and to asmal er clan you wil give a smal er heritage. Where the lot fal s for each, that wil be his. Your heritage wildepend on the size of your tribe.	54 Vous le partagerez au sort entre vos clans. A celui qui est nombreux vous ferez une plus grandepart d'héritage, à celui qui est moins nombreux vous ferez une plus petite part d'héritage. Là où le sort tomberapour chacun, là sera son domaine. Vous ferez le partage dans vos tribus.
55 If, however, you do not drive out the local inhabitants before you, the ones you al ow to remain wilbe thorns in your eyes and thistles in your sides and wil harass you in the country where you are living,	55 Mais si vous ne chassez pas devant vous les habitants du pays, ceux d'entre eux que vous aurezlaissés deviendront des épines dans vos yeux et des chardons dans vos flancs, ils vous presseront dans le paysque vous habiterez
56 and I shal treat you as I intended to treat them." '	56 et je vous traiterai comme j'avais pensé les traiter."
