NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 The word of Yahweh that was addressed to Joel son of Pethuel.	1 Palabra del Señor, que fue dirigida a Joel, hijo de Petuel.
2 Listen to this, you elders; everybody in the country, attend! Has anything like this ever happened in yourday, or in your ancestors' days?	2 ¡Escuchen esto, ancianos, presten atención, todos los habitantes del país! ¿Sucedió algo así en los días de ustedes o en los días de sus padres?
3 Tell your children about it and let your children tel their children, and their children the next generation!	3 Cuéntenlo a sus hijos, y estos a los suyos, y ellos a la siguiente generación.
4 What the nibbler has left, the grown locust has eaten, what the grown locust has left, the hopper haseaten, and what the hopper has left, the shearer has eaten.	4 Lo que dejó la oruga, lo devoró la langosta, lo que dejó la langosta, lo devoró el pulgón, lo que dejó el pulgón, lo devoró el roedor.
5 Wake up, you drunkards, and weep! All you wine-bibbers, lament for the new wine: it has beensnatched from your lips.	5 ¡Despierten, borrachos, y lloren! Laméntense todos los bebedores de vino, porque el vino nuevo se les ha retirado de la boca.
6 For a nation has invaded my country, mighty and innumerable, with teeth like a lion's teeth, with thefangs of a lioness.	6 Un pueblo ha subido contra mi país, un pueblo poderoso e innumerable; sus dientes son dientes de león y tiene colmillos de leona.
7 It has reduced my vines to a desolation and my fig trees to splinters, stripped them and broken themdown, leaving their branches white.	7 ¡El convirtió mi viña en una desolación e hizo trizas mi higuera; las peló por completo y las derribó, y sus ramas se volvieron blancas!
8 Mourn, as a virgin-bride in sackcloth for the bridegroom of her youth!	8 Gime, como una virgen vestida de luto por el esposo de su juventud.
9 Cereal offering and libation are lost to Yahweh's Temple. The priests, the ministers of Yahweh, are inmourning.	9 La ofrenda y la libación han desaparecido de la Casa del Señor.
10 The fields are ruined, the land is in mourning, for the grain has been ruined, the new wine has failed, ofolive oil only a trickle.	10 El campo está devastado, la tierra está de duelo, porque el trigo ha sido arrasado, ha faltado el vino nuevo y el aceite fresco se agotó.
11 Stand dismayed, you farmers, wail, you vinedressers, for the wheat, for the barley! The harvest of thefields has been lost!	11 Aflíjanse, labradores, laméntense, viñadores, por el trigo y la cebada, porque se ha perdido la cosecha de los campos.
12 The vine has withered, the fig tree wilts away; pomegranate, palm tree, apple tree, every tree in thecountryside is dry, and for human beings joy has run dry too.	12 La viña está seca y la higuera marchita; granados, palmeras y manzanos, todos los árboles del campo se han secado. Sí, el gozo, lleno de confusión, se ha apartado de los seres humanos.
13 Priests, put on sackcloth and lament! You ministers of the altar, wail! Come here, lie in sackcloth alnight long, you ministers of my God! For the Temple of your God has been deprived of cereal offering andlibation.	13 ¡Vístanse de duelo y laméntense, sacerdotes! ¡Giman, servidores del altar! ¡Vengan, pasen la noche vestidos de penitencia, ministros de mi Dios! Porque se ha privado a la Casa de su Dios de ofrenda y libación.
14 Order a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly; you elders, summon everybody in the country to theTemple of Yahweh your God. Cry out to Yahweh:	14 Prescriban un ayuno, convoquen a una reunión solemne, congreguen a los ancianos y a todos los habitantes del país, en la Casa del Señor, su Dios, y clamen al Señor.
15 'Alas for the day! For the Day of Yahweh is near, coming as destruction from Shaddai.'	15 ¡Ah, que Día! Porque está cerca el Día del Señor, y viene del Devastador como una devastación.
16 Has not the food disappeared before our very eyes? Have not joy and gladness vanished from theTemple of our God?	16 ¿No ha sido retirado el alimento delante de nuestros ojos, y también el gozo y la alegría, de la Casa de nuestro Dios?
17 The seeds shrivel under their clods; the granaries are deserted, the barns are in ruins, because theharvest has dried out.	17 Los granos se han petrificado bajo los terrones; los silos están devastados, los graneros en ruinas, porque se ha perdido el trigo.
18 Loudly the cattle groan! The herds of oxen are bewildered because they have no pasture. The flocks ofsheep bear the punishment too.	18 ¡Cómo muge el ganado! Las manadas de vacas vagan sin rumbo, porque no tienen donde pastar. ¡También los rebaños de ovejas desfallecen!
19 Yahweh, to you I cry: for fire has devoured the desert pastures, flame has burnt up all the trees in thecountryside.	19 Señor, yo clamo a ti, porque el fuego ha devorado los pastizales de la estepa, las llamas han consumido todos los árboles del campo.
20 Even the wild animals pant loudly for you, for the watercourses have run dry, and fire has devoured thedesert pastures.	20 Hasta los animales del campo suspiran por ti, porque los cauces de agua se han secado, y el fuego ha devorado los pastizales de la estepa.
