Jeremiah 32

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which wasthe eighteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar.	1 Palabra que fue dirigida a Jeremías de parte de Yahveh el año diez de Sedecías, rey de Judá - o sea, el año dieciocho de Nabucodonosor:
2 The army of the king of Babylon was then besieging Jerusalem, and the prophet Jeremiah wasconfined in the Court of the Guard in the king of Judah's palace,	2 A la sazón las fuerzas del rey de Babilonia sitiaban a Jerusalén, mientras el profeta Jeremías estaba detenido en el patio de la guardia de la casa del rey de Judá,
3 where Zedekiah king of Judah had confined him, saying, 'Why do you keep prophesying like this,"Yahweh says this: I am going to hand this city over to the king of Babylon and he wil capture it;	3 donde le tenía detenido Sedecías, rey de Judá, bajo esta acusación: «¿Por qué has profetizado: Así dice Yahveh: He aquí que yo entrego esta ciudad en manos del rey de Babilonia, que la tomará,
4 and Zedekiah king of Judah will not escape the clutches of the Chaldaeans, but will certainly behanded over to the king of Babylon, speak to him personally and see him face to face.	4 y el rey de Judá, Sedecías, no escapará de manos de los caldeos, sino que será entregado sin remisión en manos del rey de Babilonia, con quien hablará boca a boca, y sus ojos se encontrarán con sus ojos,
5 He wil take Zedekiah away to Babylon and there he wil stay (until I attend to him, Yahweh declares. Ifyou fight the Chaldaeans you will not succeed!)" '	5 y a Babilonia llevará a Sedecías, y allí estará (hasta que yo le visite - oráculo de Yahveh. ¡Aunque luchéis con los caldeos, no triunfaréis!)»
6 Jeremiah said, 'The word of Yahweh has been addressed to me as fol ows,	6 Dijo Jeremías: He recibido una palabra de Yahveh que dice así:
7 "Look, Hanamel the son of your uncle Shal um wil come to you and say: Buy my field at Anathoth, foryou have the right of redemption to purchase it."	7 «He aquí que Janamel, hijo de tu tío Sallum, va a dirigirse a ti diciendo: “Ea, cómprame el campo de Anatot, porque a ti te toca el derecho de rescate para comprarlo.”»
8 And, as Yahweh had said, my cousin Hanamel came to me, in the Court of the Guard and said, "Buymy field at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin, for you have the right of inheritance and right of redemption; buyit." I knew then that this was Yahweh's order.	8 Vino, pues, a mí Janamel, hijo de mi tío, conforme al dicho de Yahveh, al patio de la guardia, y me dijo: «Ea, cómprame el campo de Anatot - que cae en territorio de Benjamín - porque tuyo es el derecho de adquisición y a ti te toca el rescate. Cómpratelo». Yo reconocí en aquello la palabra de Yahveh,
9 Accordingly, I bought the field from my cousin Hanamel of Anathoth and weighed him out the money:seventeen silver shekels.	9 y compré a Janamel, hijo de mi tío, el campo que está en Anatot. Le pesé la plata: diecisiete siclos de plata.
10 I drew up the deeds and sealed it, cal ed in witnesses and weighed out the money on the scales.	10 Lo apunté en mi escritura, sellé, aduje testigos y pesé la plata en la balanza.
11 I then took both the sealed deed of purchase (with its stipulations and clauses) and its open copy	11 Luego tomé la escritura de la compra, el documento sellado según ley y la copia abierta,
12 and handed over the deed of purchase to Baruch son of Neriah, son of Mahseiah, in the presence ofmy cousin Hanamel, of the witnesses who had signed the deed of purchase, and of al the Judaeans who thenhappened to be in the Court of the Guard.	12 y pasé la escritura de la compra a Baruc, hijo de Neriyías, hijo de Majseías, a vista de mi primo Janamel y de los testigos firmantes en la escritura de la compra, y a vista de todos los judíos presentes en el patio de la guardia,
13 In their presence I gave Baruch this order,	13 y a vista de todos ellos di a Baruc este encargo:
14 "Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Take these deeds, the sealed deed of purchase and itsopen copy, and put them in an earthenware pot, so that they may be preserved for a long time.	14 Así dice Yahveh Sebaot el Dios de Israel: Toma estas escrituras: la escritura de compra, el documento sellado y la copia abierta, y las pones en un cántaro de arcilla para que duren mucho tiempo.
15 For Yahweh Sabaoth, God of Israel, says this: Houses, fields and vineyards wil again be bought inthis country."	15 Porque así dice Yahveh Sebaot el Dios de Israel: «Todavía se comprarán casas y campos y viñas en esta tierra».
16 'After I had entrusted the deed of purchase to Baruch son of Neriah, I prayed to Yahweh as fol ows,	16 Después de haber entregado la escritura de propiedad a Baruc, hijo de Neriyías, oré a Yahveh diciendo:
17 "Ah, Lord Yahweh, you made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm.To you nothing is impossible.	17 «¡Ay, Señor Yahveh! He aquí que tú hiciste los cielos y la tierra con tu gran poder y tenso brazo: nada es extraordinario para ti,
18 You show faithful love to thousands but repay the fathers' guilt in full to their children after them. Greatand mighty God, whose name is Yahweh Sabaoth,	18 el que hace merced a millares, que se cobra la culpa de los padres a costa de los hijos que les suceden, el Dios grande, el Fuerte, cuyo nombre es Yahveh Sebaot,
19 great in purpose, mighty in deed, whose eyes are open on al human ways, rewarding every individualas that person's ways and actions deserve!	19 grande en designios y rico en recursos, que tiene los ojos fijos en la conducta de los humanos, para dar a cada uno según su conducta y el fruto de sus obras;
20 You performed signs and wonders in Egypt, as you stil do in Israel and among humanity today. Youhave won the name for yourself which is yours today.	20 tú que has obrado señales y portentos en Egipto, hasta hoy, y en Israel y en la humanidad entera, y te has hecho un nombre, como hoy se ve;
21 You brought your people Israel out of Egypt with signs and wonders, with mighty hand andoutstretched arm and fearsome terror.	21 y sacaste a tu pueblo Israel de Egipto con señales y prodigios y con mano fuerte y tenso brazo y con gran aparato,
22 Then you gave them this country which you had promised on oath to their ancestors, a countryflowing with milk and honey.	22 y les diste esta tierra que habías jurado darla a sus padres: tierra que mana leche y miel.
23 They then entered it, taking possession of it, but they would not listen to your voice nor follow yourLaw: they would do nothing you ordered them to do; and so you made this total disaster befall them.	23 Entraron en ella y la poseyeron, pero no hicieron caso de tu voz, ni conforme a tus leyes anduvieron: nada de lo que les mandaste hacer hicieron, y les conminaste con esta calamidad.
24 Look! The earthworks are already in place to take the city and, by means of sword, famine andplague, the city is now within the clutches of the Chaldaeans attacking it. What you said has now come true, asyou see.	24 He aquí que los terraplenes llegan a la ciudad para tomarla y la ciudad está ya a merced de los caldeos que la atacan, por causa de la espada y del hambre y de la peste; lo que habías dicho, ha sido, y tú mismo lo estás viendo.
25 Yet you yourself, Lord Yahweh, told me: Buy the field, pay for it, have it witnessed although the city isalready in the Chaldaeans' clutches." '	25 ¡Precisamente tú me has dicho, oh Señor Yahveh: “Cómprate el campo y aduce testigos” cuando la ciudad está entregada a manos de los caldeos!»
26 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as fol ows,	26 Entonces me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh como sigue:
27 'Look, I am Yahweh, God of al humanity. Is anything impossible to me?	27 Mira que yo soy Yahveh, el Dios de toda carne. ¿Habrá cosa extraordinaria para mi?
28 'So, Yahweh says this, "I shal hand this city over to the Chaldaeans and to Nebuchadnezzar king ofBabylon, and he wil capture it;	28 Pues así dice Yahveh: He aquí que yo pongo esta ciudad en manos de los caldeos y en manos de Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia, que la tomará,
29 the Chaldaeans attacking this city wil enter it, fire it and burn it to the ground, with the houses onwhose roofs incense has been offered to Baal and libations poured to other gods, to provoke my anger.	29 y entrarán los caldeos que atacan a esta ciudad y le prenderán fuego incendiándola junto con las casas en cuyos terrados se encensaba a Baal y se libaban libaciones a otros dioses para provocarme.
30 For the people of Israel and Judah alike have done nothing but what displeases me since they wereyoung. (The people of Israel in fact have done nothing but provoke my anger by their actions, Yahweh declares.)	30 Porque los hijos de Israel y los hijos de Judá no han hecho otra cosa sino lo que me disguta desde sus mocedades (porque los hijos de Israel no han hecho más que provocarme con las obras de sus manos - oráculo de Yahveh -).
31 Yes, from the day when this city was built until today, it has been such cause of anger and wrath tome that I mean to remove it from my sight,	31 Porque motivo de mi furor y de mi ira ha sido para mí esta ciudad, desde el día en que la edificaron hasta hoy, que es como para quitármela de delante,
32 on account of al the wickedness the people of Israel and the people of Judah have done to provokemy anger; they, their kings, their chief men, their priests, their prophets, the people of Judah and the inhabitantsof Jerusalem.	32 por toda la maldad de los hijos de Israel y de los hijos de Judá, que, para provocarme, obraron ellos, sus reyes, sus jefes, sus sacerdotes y profetas, el hombre de Judá y el habitante de Jerusalén,
33 They turned to me their backs, never their faces; and though I taught them so urgently, so untiringly,they would not listen and accept correction.	33 y me volvieron la espalda, que no la cara. Yo les adoctriné asiduamente, mas ellos no quisieron aprender la lección,
34 Instead, they set up their Horrors in the Temple that bears my name to defile it,	34 sino que pusieron sus Monstruos abominables en la Casa que llaman por mi Nombre, profanándola,
35 and built the high places of Baal in the Val ey of Ben-Hinnom, to burn their sons and daughters alivein honour of Molech: a thing I have never ordered, that had never entered my thoughts -- that they would causeJudah to sin by anything so loathsome!	35 y fraguaron los altos del Baal que hay en el Valle de Ben Hinnom para hacer pasar por el fuego a sus hijos e hijas en honor del Moloc - lo que no les mandé ni me pasó por las mientes -, obrando semejante abominación con el fin de hacer pecar a Judá.
36 "So now, this is what Yahweh, God of Israel, says about this city of which you now say: By means ofsword, famine and plague, it is already within the king of Babylon's clutches:	36 Ahora, pues, en verdad así dice Yahveh, el Dios de Israel, acerca de esta ciudad que - al decir de vosotros - está ya a merced del rey de Babilonia por la espada, por el hambre y por la peste.
37 Look, I shall gather them in from al the countries where I have driven them in my anger, my fury andgreat wrath. I shal bring them back to this place and make them live in safety.	37 He aquí que yo los reúno de todos los países a donde los empujé en mi ira y mi furor y enojo grande, y les haré volver a este lugar, y les haré vivir en seguridad,
38 Then they will be my people, and I shall be their God.	38 serán mi pueblo, y yo seré su Dios;
39 I shal give them singleness of heart and singleness of conduct so that they wil always fear me, fortheir own good and that of their children after them.	39 y les daré otro corazón y otro camino, de suerte que me teman todos los días para bien de ellos y de sus hijos después de ellos.
40 I shal make an everlasting covenant with them, never to cease in my efforts for their welfare, and Ishall put respect for me in their hearts, so that they wil never turn away from me again.	40 Les pactaré alianza eterna - que no revocaré después de ellos - de hacerles bien, y pondré mi temor en sus corazones, de modo que no se aparten de junto a mí;
41 My joy wil lie in them and in doing them good, and I shal plant them firmly in this country, with al myheart and soul.	41 me dedicaré a hacerles bien, y los plantaré en esta tierra firmemente, con todo mi corazón y con toda mi alma.
42 For Yahweh says this: Just as I have brought this complete and total disaster on this people, so I shalbring them al the good things I have promised them.	42 Porque así dice Yahveh: Como he traído sobre este pueblo todo este gran perjuicio, así yo mismo voy a traer sobre ellos todo el beneficio que pronuncio sobre ellos,
43 Fields wil again be bought in this country of which you now say: It is a wasteland without human oranimal, already in the clutches of the Chaldaeans.	43 y se comprarán campos en esta tierra de la que decís vosotros que es una desolación, sin personas ni ganados, y que está a merced de los caldeos;
44 People wil buy fields, pay money, draw up deeds, seal them and have them witnessed in the territoryof Benjamin, in the districts round Jerusalem, in the towns of Judah, of the highlands, of the lowlands and of theNegeb. For I shal bring back their captives, Yahweh declares." '	44 se comprarán campos con dinero, anotándose en escritura, sellándose y llamando testigos, en la tierra de Benjamín y en los contornos de Jerusalén, en las ciudades de Judá, en las de la Montaña, en las de la Tierra Baja y en las del Négueb, pues haré tornar a sus cautivos - oráculo de Yahveh -.
