Isaiah 24

1 See how Yahweh lays the earth waste, makes it a desert, buckles its surface, scatters its inhabitants,	1 - Ecco il Signore devasterà la terra e la spoglierà, desolerà la sua faccia e disperderà i suoi abitatori.
2 priest and people alike, master and slave, mistress and maid, seller and buyer, lender and borrower,creditor and debtor.	2 E come sarà del popolo, così sarà del sacerdote; come il servo, così sarà il padrone; come l'ancella, così la signora; chi compra, così come chi vende; chi presta, come chi prende a prestito; quale il creditore, tale il debitore.
3 Ravaged, ravaged the earth wil be, despoiled, despoiled, for Yahweh has uttered this word.	3 La terra sarà totalmente devastata e data al saccheggio, perchè il Signore ha pronunciata questa parola.
4 The earth is mourning, pining away, the pick of earth's people are withering away.	4 La terra piange, si stempera in lacrime e si consuma; il mondo si strugge e il fasto del popolo della terra languisce.
5 The earth is defiled by the feet of its inhabitants, for they have transgressed the laws, violated thedecree, broken the everlasting covenant.	5 La terra è piena di corruzione de' suoi abitanti, perchè hanno trasgredito le leggi, manomesso il diritto, infranto il patto eterno.
6 That is why the curse has consumed the earth and its inhabitants pay the penalty, that is why theinhabitants of the earth have been burnt up and few people are left.	6 Per questo la maledizione divorerà la terra, ed espieranno il peccato i suoi abitanti; per questo insaniranno quelli che la coltivano, e poca gente vi resterà.
7 The new wine is mourning, the vine is withering away, the once merry-hearted are sighing.	7 Triste la vendemmia, afflitta la vite, tutti quelli che facevano vita lieta gemono.
8 The cheerful sound of tambourines is silent, the sound of revel ing is over, the cheerful sound of theharp is silent.	8 Il gioioso suono dei timpani è cessato, è finito il rumore delle feste, e la voce soave della cetra più non si sente.
9 No more wil they sing over their wine, liquor wil taste bitter to the drinker.	9 Vino non berranno tra canti e suoni, e le bevande sapranno di amaro ai bevitori.
10 The city of nothingness is in ruins, every house is shut, no one can enter.	10 La città della vanità è disfatta, chiuse tutte le case, senza alcuno che entri.
11 People shout in the streets to try to get wine; al joy has vanished, happiness has been banished fromthe country.	11 Nelle piazze si lamenterà il vino, e scomparsa ogni allegria, esulata ogni letizia della terra.
12 Nothing but rubble in the city, the gate has col apsed in ruins.	12 Nella città è rimasta la solitudine, e la calamità incombe alle sue porte.
13 For at the heart of earth's life, among the peoples, it is as at the beating of the olive trees, as at thegleaning of the grapes when the grape harvest is over.	13 Perchè, così sarà in mezzo alla terra, nei centri popolosi: come poche olive rimaste, che si scuotono dall'olivo; o i racimoli, finita che sia la vendemmia.
14 They raise their voices, shouting for joy, in Yahweh's honour they shout from the west.	14 Quelli alzeranno la voce e plaudiranno, allorchè sarà stato glorificato il Signore; faranno ovazione dal mare.
15 'Yes, in the east, give glory to Yahweh, in the islands of the sea, to the name of Yahweh, God ofIsrael!'	15 Per questo, rendete gloria alle manifestazioni del Signore, al nome del Signore, Dio d'Israele, nelle isole del mare.
16 We have heard psalms from the remotest parts of earth, 'Glory to the Upright One!' But I thought,'What an ordeal, what an ordeal! What misery for me!' The traitors have betrayed, the traitors have acted mosttreacherously.	16 Dalle estremità della terra abbiamo udito le lodi, la glorificazione del giusto. Ed io dissi: «Sia per me il mio segreto, sia per me il mio segreto!». Ahimè! I prevaricatori continuano a prevaricare, e con prevaricazione da protervi hanno prevaricato.
17 Fear, the pit and the snare for you, inhabitants of the city!	17 Il terrore, la fossa, il laccio sovrastano a te che sei abitatore della terra.
18 And whoever flees from the cry of fear wil fal into the pit, and whoever climbs out of the pit will becaught in the snare. Yes, the sluice-gates above are open, the foundations of the earth are quaking.	18 E avverrà che chi sfuggirà al grido del terrore, cadrà nella fossa, e chi si sarà districato dalla fossa incoglierà nel laccio: perchè le cateratte in alto si sono aperte, e saranno scosse le fondamenta della terra.
19 A cracking, the earth cracks open, a jolting, the earth gives a jolt, a lurching, the earth lurchesbackwards and forwards.	19 La terra andrà in isfacelo; la terra andrà in frantumi; la terra andrà in isconquasso;
20 The earth wil reel to and fro like a drunkard, it will be shaken like a shanty; so heavy wil be its sin onit, it wil fal , never to rise again.	20 la terra andrà di qua e di là come un ubriaco, e sarà tolta via come capanna [fatta] per una sola notte. Le sue iniquità su di essa peseranno, e cadrà senza potersi più rialzare.
21 When that day comes, Yahweh wil punish the armies of the sky above and on earth the kings of theearth;	21 E avverrà in quel giorno che il Signore visiterà la milizia celeste in alto, e i re terreni che sono sulla terra.
22 they wil be herded together, herded together like prisoners in a dungeon and shut up in gaol, and,after long years, punished.	22 E saranno tutti riuniti in un fascio nella fossa, ed ivi saranno incarcerati, e dopo molti giorni saranno visitati.
23 The moon will be confused and the sun ashamed, for Yahweh Sabaoth is king on Mount Zion and inJerusalem, and the Glory will radiate on their elders.	23 E la luna arrossirà, e il sole impallidirà quando il Signore Dio degli eserciti regnerà sul monte Sion e in Gerusalemme, e davanti ai suoi seniori rifulgerà nella gloria.
