Proverbs 31

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 The sayings of Lemuel king of Massa, taught him by his mother:	1 Parole di Lemuèl, re di Massa, insegnategli da sua madre.
2 What, my son! What, son of my womb! What, son of my vows!	2 E che, figlio mio! E che, figlio del mio seno! E che, figlio dei miei voti!
3 Do not expend your energy on women nor your wealth on those who ruin kings.	3 Non concedere alle donne il tuo vigore, i tuoi fianchi a quelle che rovinano i sovrani!
4 Not for kings, O Lemuel, not for kings the drinking of wine, not for princes the love of liquor,	4 Non conviene ai re, o Lemuèl, non conviene ai re bere vino, né ai prìncipi desiderar liquori,
5 for fear that in liquor they forget what they have decreed and pervert the course of justice against allthe poor.	5 ché bevendo scordi ciò che ha decretato e àlteri il diritto a tutti gli infelici!
6 Procure strong drink for someone about to die, wine for him whose heart is heavy:	6 Date bevande forti a chi sta per morire e vino a chi è nell'amarezza.
7 let him drink and forget his misfortune, and remember his misery no more.	7 Beva per dimenticar la sua miseria, e non ricordarsi più della sua pena.
8 Make your views heard, on behalf of the dumb, on behalf of al the unwanted;	8 Apri la bocca tua per chi è muto, per la causa di tutti i derelitti!
9 make your views heard, pronounce an upright verdict, defend the cause of the poor and the wretched.	9 Apri la bocca tua, giudica con giustizia, rendi giustizia all'infelice e al povero!
10 The truly capable woman -- who can find her? She is far beyond the price of pearls.	10 Una donna efficiente chi la trova? E' superiore alle perle il suo valore.
11 Her husband's heart has confidence in her, from her he wil derive no little profit.	11 Confida in lei il cuore di suo marito, che ne ricaverà sempre un vantaggio.
12 Advantage and not hurt she brings him al the days of her life.	12 Gli procura ciò che è bene, non il male, per tutti i giorni della sua vita.
13 She selects wool and flax, she does her work with eager hands.	13 Si interessa della lana e del lino, sta sempre occupata con le mani.
14 She is like those merchant vessels, bringing her food from far away.	14 E' come le navi d'un mercante, che fa venir da lontano il suo pane.
15 She gets up while it is stil dark giving her household their food, giving orders to her serving girls.	15 S'alza quando è ancora buio, per distribuire il vitto ai suoi domestici e dare ordini alle sue domestiche.
16 She sets her mind on a field, then she buys it; with what her hands have earned she plants avineyard.	16 Mette l'occhio su un campo e l'acquista; col frutto delle sue mani pianta una vigna.
17 She puts her back into her work and shows how strong her arms can be.	17 Stringe forte i propri fianchi, irrobustisce le sue braccia.
18 She knows that her affairs are going wel ; her lamp does not go out at night.	18 Sperimenta l'utilità del suo lavoro, non si spegne di notte la sua lampada.
19 She sets her hands to the distaff, her fingers grasp the spindle.	19 Le sue mani ella mette alla conocchia, le sue dita si occupan del fuso.
20 She holds out her hands to the poor, she opens her arms to the needy.	20 Tende le sue mani verso il povero e le sue dita stende all'infelice.
21 Snow may come, she has no fears for her household, with al her servants warmly clothed.	21 Non teme la neve per i familiari, perché i domestici hanno doppia veste.
22 She makes her own quilts, she is dressed in fine linen and purple.	22 S'è procurata bei tappeti, bisso e porpora sono le sue vesti.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gates, taking his seat among the elders of the land.	23 E' stimato alla porta suo marito, quando siede con gli anziani del paese.
24 She weaves materials and sel s them, she supplies the merchant with sashes.	24 Tesse drappi di lino e li rivende, una cintura vende al commerciante.
25 She is clothed in strength and dignity, she can laugh at the day to come.	25 Forza e prestanza sono il suo vestito, guarda sicura al tempo avvenire.
26 When she opens her mouth, she does so wisely; on her tongue is kindly instruction.	26 La sua bocca apre con saggezza, un insegnamento fedele è sopra la sua lingua.
27 She keeps good watch on the conduct of her household, no bread of idleness for her.	27 Sorveglia il va e vieni della casa, non mangia il pane della sua pigrizia.
28 Her children stand up and proclaim her blessed, her husband, too, sings her praises:	28 Si levano i suoi figli, si felicitano con lei, suo marito tesse il suo elogio:
29 'Many women have done admirable things, but you surpass them all!'	29 Molte donne sono state efficienti, ma tu le sorpassi tutte quante.
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty empty; the woman who fears Yahweh is the one to praise.	30 Falsa è la grazia, vana la bellezza! La donna saggia, quella va lodata!
31 Give her a share in what her hands have worked for, and let her works tel her praises at the citygates.	31 Datele il frutto delle proprie mani, la lodino alle porte le sue opere!
