Exodus 24

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 He then said to Moses, 'Come up to Yahweh, you and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of theelders of Israel and bow down at a distance.	1 Dijo a Moisés: «Sube donde Yahveh, tú, Aarón, Nadab y Abihú, con setenta de los ancianos de Israel; os postraréis desde lejos.
2 Moses alone will approach Yahweh; the others wil not approach, nor wil the people come up withhim.'	2 Sólo Moisés se acercará a Yahveh; ellos no se acercarán. Tampoco el pueblo subirá con ellos.»
3 Moses went and told the people al Yahweh's words and al the laws, and al the people answered withone voice, 'All the words Yahweh has spoken we wil carry out!'	3 Vino, pues, Moisés y refirió al pueblo todas las palabras de Yahveh y todas sus normas. Y todo el pueblo respondió a una voz: «Cumpliremos todas las palabras que ha dicho Yahveh.»
4 Moses put al Yahweh's words into writing, and early next morning he built an altar at the foot of themountain, with twelve standing-stones for the twelve tribes of Israel.	4 Entonces escribió Moisés todas las palabras de Yahveh; y, levantándose de mañana, alzó al pie del monte un altar y doce estelas por las doce tribus de Israel.
5 Then he sent certain young Israelites to offer burnt offerings and sacrifice bul ocks to Yahweh ascommunion sacrifices.	5 Luego mandó a algunos jóvenes, de los israelitas, que ofreciesen holocaustos e inmolaran novillos como sacrificios de comunión para Yahveh.
6 Moses then took half the blood and put it into basins, and the other half he sprinkled on the altar.	6 Tomó Moisés la mitad de la sangre y la echó en vasijas; la otra mitad la derramó sobre el altar.
7 Then, taking the Book of the Covenant, he read it to the listening people, who then said, 'We shall do everything that Yahweh has said; we shall obey.'	7 Tomó después el libro de la Alianza y lo leyó ante el pueblo, que respondió: «Obedeceremos y haremos todo cuanto ha dicho Yahveh.»
8 Moses then took the blood and sprinkled it over the people, saying, 'This is the blood of the covenantwhich Yahweh has made with you, entailing all these stipulations.'	8 Entonces tomó Moisés la sangre, roció con ella al pueblo y dijo: «Esta es la sangre de la Alianza que Yahveh ha hecho con vosotros, según todas estas palabras.»
9 Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu and seventy elders of Israel then went up,	9 Moisés subió con Aarón, Nadab y Abihú y setenta de los ancianos de Israel,
10 and they saw the God of Israel beneath whose feet there was what looked like a sapphire pavementpure as the heavens themselves,	10 y vieron al Dios de Israel. Bajo sus pies había como un pavimento de zafiro tan puro como el mismo cielo.
11 but he did no harm to the Israelite notables; they actually gazed on God and then ate and drank.	11 No extendió él su mano contra los notables de Israel, que vieron a Dios, comieron y bebieron.
12 Yahweh said to Moses, 'Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the stonetablets -- the law and the commandment -- which I have written for their instruction.'	12 Dijo Yahveh a Moisés: «Sube hasta mí, al monte; quédate allí, y te daré las tablas de piedra - la ley y los mandamientos - que tengo escritos para su instrucción.»
13 Moses made ready, with Joshua his assistant, and they went up the mountain of God.	13 Se levantó Moisés, con Josué, su ayudante; y subieron al monte de Dios.
14 He said to the elders, 'Wait here for us until we come back to you. You have Aaron and Hur with you;if anyone has any matter to settle, let him go to them.'	14 Dijo a los ancianos: «Esperadnos aquí que volvamos a vosotros. Ahí quedan con vosotros Aarón y Jur. El que tenga alguna cuestión que recurra a ellos.»
15 Moses then went up the mountain. Cloud covered the mountain.	15 Y subió Moisés al monte. La nube cubrió el monte.
16 The glory of Yahweh rested on Mount Sinai and the cloud covered it for six days. On the seventh dayYahweh cal ed to Moses from inside the cloud.	16 La gloria de Yahveh descansó sobre el monte Sinaí y la nube lo cubrió por seis días. Al séptimo día, llamó Yahveh a Moisés de en medio de la nube.
17 To the watching Israelites, the glory of Yahweh looked like a devouring fire on the mountain top.	17 La gloria de Yahveh aparecía a la vista de los hijos de Israel como fuego devorador sobre la cumbre del monte.
18 Moses went right into the cloud and went on up the mountain. Moses stayed on the mountain for fortydays and forty nights.	18 Moisés entró dentro de la nube y subió al monte. Y permaneció Moisés en el monte cuarenta días y cuarenta noches.
