NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Al the people then chose Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in succession to hisfather Amaziah.	1 Todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Ozías, que tenía dieciséis años, y le proclamaron rey en lugar de su padre Amasías.

3 Uzziah was sixteen years old when he came to the throne and he reigned for fifty-two years inJerusalem. His mother's name was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.	3 Dieciséis años tenía Ozías cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó 52 años en Jerusalén. Su madre se llamaba Yekoliá, de Jerusalén.
4 He did what is pleasing to Yahweh, just as his father Amaziah had done;	4 Hizo lo recto a los ojos de Yahveh, enteramente como lo había hecho su padre Amasías.
5 he consulted God throughout the lifetime of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. And aslong as he consulted Yahweh, God gave him success.	5 Buscó a Dios durante la vida de Zacarías, que le instruyó en el temor de Dios; y mientras buscó a Yahveh, Dios le dio prosperidad.
6 He went on campaign against the Philistines, demolished the wal s of Gath, the wal s of Jabneh andthe wal s of Ashdod, and built towns in the area of Ashdod and elsewhere in Philistine territory.	6 Salió a campaña contra los filisteos y abrió brecha en el muro de Gat, en el muro de Yabné y en el muro de Asdod; restauró las ciudades en la región de Asdod y entre los filisteos.
7 God helped him against the Philistines, the Arabs living at Gur-Baal and the Meunites.	7 Dios le ayudó contra los filisteos, contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur Báal y contra los meunitas.
8 The Meunites paid tribute to Uzziah and his fame spread as far as the frontier of Egypt, since he keptgrowing stronger and stronger.	8 Los ammonitas pagaron tributo a Ozías, y su fama llegó hasta la frontera de Egipto, porque se había hecho sumamente poderoso.
9 Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem, at the Corner Gate, at the Val ey Gate and at the Angle, and fortifiedthem.	9 Ozías construyó torres en Jerusalén sobre la puerta del Angulo, sobre la puerta del Valle y en el Angulo, y las fortificó.
10 He built towers in the desert too, and dug many storage-wel s, for he had large herds in the lowlandsand on the tableland, and farmers and vine dressers in the hil s and fertile lands: for he loved the land.	10 Construyó también torres en el desierto y excavó muchas cisternas, pues poseía numerosos ganados en la Tierra Baja y en la llanura, así como labradores y viñadores en las montañas y en los campos fértiles, porque le gustaba la agricultura.
11 Uzziah had a trained army ready to go on campaign, organised in companies manned as detailed bythe scribe Jeiel and the staff-officer Maaseiah, and commanded by Hananiah one of the king's generals.	11 Ozías tenía un ejército que hacía la guerra; salía a campaña por grupos, conforme al número de su censo hecho bajo la vigilancia de Yeiel el escriba, y Maaseías el notario, a las órdenes de Jananías, uno de los jefes del rey.
12 The heads of families of the military champions numbered in al two thousand six hundred.	12 El número total de los jefes de familia era de 2.600 hombres esforzados.
13 Under them was an army of three hundred and seven thousand five hundred men ready for war, apowerful force to support the king against the enemy.	13 A sus órdenes había un ejército de campaña de 307.500 hombres, que hacían la guerra con gran valor, para ayudar al rey contra el enemigo.
14 Uzziah provided shields, spears, helmets, armour, bows and sling-stones for the entire army.	14 Ozías proporcionó a todo aquel ejército en cada una de sus campañas escudos y lanzas, yelmos y corazas, arcos y hondas, para tirar piedras.
15 He also erected expertly contrived devices for the towers and angles of Jerusalem from which toshoot arrows and drop large stones. His fame spread far and wide, for he was miraculously helped to becomestrong.	15 Hizo construir en Jerusalén ingenios inventados por expertos, para colocarlos sobre las torres y los ángulos y para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras. Su fama se extendió lejos, porque fue prodigioso el modo como supo buscarse colaboradores hasta hacerse fuerte.
16 But once he was strong, his arrogance was such that it led to his downfall; he was unfaithful toYahweh his God by entering the Temple of Yahweh to burn incense on the altar of incense.	16 Mas, una vez fortalecido en su poder, se ensoberbeció hasta acarrearse la ruina, y se rebeló contra Yahveh su Dios, entrando en el Templo de Yahveh para quemar incienso sobre el altar del incienso.
17 Azariah the priest with eight brave priests of Yahweh followed him in;	17 Fue tras él Azarías, el sacerdote, y con él ochenta sacerdotes de Yahveh, hombres valientes,
18 confronting King Uzziah, they said to him, 'Uzziah, you are not al owed to burn incense to Yahweh;only the Aaronite priests consecrated for the purpose may burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have beenunfaithful and wil have no honour from Yahweh God.'	18 que se opusieron al rey Ozías y le dijeron: «No te corresponde a ti, Ozías, quemar incienso a Yahveh, sino a los sacerdotes, los hijos de Aarón, que han sido consagrados para quemar el incienso. ¡Sal del santuario porque estás prevaricando, y tú no tienes derecho a la gloria que viene de Yahveh Dios!»
19 Uzziah, censer in hand to burn incense, flew into a rage. But while he was raging at the priests, avirulent skin-disease broke out on his forehead in the presence of the priests, in the Temple of Yahweh, there bythe altar of incense.	19 Entonces Ozías, que tenía en la mano un incensario para ofrecer incienso, se llenó de ira, y mientras se irritaba contra los sacerdotes, brotó la lepra en su frente, a vista de los sacerdotes, en la Casa de Yahveh, junto al altar del incienso.
20 When Azariah the chief priest and al the other priests turned towards him, there was skin-disease onhis forehead and they hurried him outside, and he himself was equal y anxious to get out, because Yahweh hadstruck him.	20 El sumo sacerdote Azarías y todos los sacerdotes volvieron hacía él sus ojos, y vieron que tenía lepra en la frente. Por lo cual lo echaron de allí a toda prisa; y él mismo se apresuró a salir, porque Yahveh le había herido.
21 King Uzziah was afflicted with skin-disease til his dying day. Because of this, he lived confined to hisroom and was excluded from the Temple of Yahweh, while Jotham his son, who was master of the palace,governed the people of the country.	21 El rey Ozías, quedó leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en una casa aislada, como leproso, porque había sido excluido de la Casa de Yahveh; su hijo Jotam estaba al frente de la casa del rey y administraba justicia al pueblo de la tierra.
22 The rest of the history of Uzziah, from first to last, has been written by the prophet Isaiah son ofAmoz.	22 El resto de los hechos de Ozías, los primeros y los postreros, los escribió el profeta Isaías, hijo de Amós.
23 Then Uzziah fell asleep with his ancestors and was buried with them in the field beside the burialground of the kings since, it was reasoned, he was afflicted with virulent skin-disease. His son Jotham thensucceeded him.	23 Acostose Ozías con sus padres y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepuclros de los reyes, porque decían: «Es un leproso».
