1 Then I saw a beast come out of the sea with ten horns and seven heads; on its horns were ten diadems, and on its heads blasphemous name (s).	1 Poi vidi salir dal mare una bestia che aveva sette teste e dieci corna, e sulle corna dieci diademi, e sulle teste nomi di bestemmia.
2 The beast I saw was like a leopard, but it had feet like a bear's, and its mouth was like the mouth of a lion. To it the dragon gave its own power and throne, along with great authority.	2 E la bestia da me veduta pareva un leopardo, aveva i piedi come quelli dell'orso, e la bocca come quella del leone.
3 I saw that one of its heads seemed to have been mortally wounded, but this mortal wound was healed. Fascinated, the whole world followed after the beast.	3 E il dragone le diede la sua forza e grande potere. E vidi una delle sue teste come piagata a morte, ma la sua piaga mortale fu guarita. E tutta la terra seguiva maravigliata la bestia.
4 They worshiped the dragon because it gave its authority to the beast; they also worshiped the beast and said, "Who can compare with the beast or who can fight against it?"	4 E si misero ad adorare il dragone che aveva dato il potere alla bestia, e adorarono la bestia, dicendo: Chi è simile alla bestia? E chi potrà combattere con lei?
5 The beast was given a mouth uttering proud boasts and blasphemies, and it was given authority to act for forty-two months.	5 E le fu data una bocca che proferiva cose grandi e bestemmie; e le fu data facoltà di agire per quarantadue mesi.
6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling and those who dwell in heaven.	6 Ed aperse la bocca in bestemmie contro Dio, contro il nome di lui, contro il suo tabernacolo e contro quelli che abitano il cielo.
7 It was also allowed to wage war against the holy ones and conquer them, and it was granted authority over every tribe, people, tongue, and nation.	7 E le fu permesso di far guerra ai santi e di vincerli; e le fu dato potere sopra ogni tribù e popolo e lingua e nazione.
8 All the inhabitants of the earth will worship it, all whose names were not written from the foundation of the world in the book of life, which belongs to the Lamb who was slain.	8 E tutti gli abitanti della terra, i nomi dei quali non sono scritti nel libro di vita dell'Agnello che è stato immolato fin dal principio del mondo, adoraron la bestia.
9 Whoever has ears ought to hear these words.	9 Chi ha orecchi, intenda.
10 Anyone destined for captivity goes into captivity. Anyone destined to be slain by the sword shall be slain by the sword. Such is the faithful endurance of the holy ones.	10 Chi mena in schiavitù sarà fatto schiavo, chi uccide colla spada bisogna che perisca di spada. Qui sta la pazienza e la fede dei santi.
11 Then I saw another beast come up out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb's but spoke like a dragon.	11 Poi vidi un'altra bestia che saliva dalla terra, con due corna simili a quelle dell'Agnello, ma parlava come il dragone.
12 It wielded all the authority of the first beast in its sight and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose mortal wound had been healed.	12 Essa esercitava tutto quanto il potere della prima bestia, in presenza di lei, e fece che la terra e i suoi abitanti adorassero la prima bestia, la cui piaga mortale era stata guarita.
13 It performed great signs, even making fire come down from heaven to earth in the sight of everyone.	13 E fece prodigi grandi, fino a far discendere dal cielo in terra il fuoco in presenza degli uomini.
14 It deceived the inhabitants of the earth with the signs it was allowed to perform in the sight of the first beast, telling them to make an image for the beast who had been wounded by the sword and revived.	14 E sedusse gli abitatori della terra coi prodigi che le fu dato di operare davanti alla bestia, persuadendo gli abitanti della terra a far l'imagine della bestia che fu piagata di spada e si riebbe.
15 It was then permitted to breathe life into the beast's image, so that the beast's image could speak and (could) have anyone who did not worship it put to death.	15 E le fu dato d'animare l'imagine della bestia da farla anche parlare, e di far mettere a morte tutti quelli che non avessero adorato l'imagine della bestia.
16 It forced all the people, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to be given a stamped image on their right hands or their foreheads,	16 E farà che tutti quanti, e piccoli e grandi, e ricchi e poveri, e liberi e servi, ricevan l'impronta sulla mano destra e sulla fronte,
17 so that no one could buy or sell except one who had the stamped image of the beast's name or the number that stood for its name.	17 e che nessuno possa comprare o vendere, se non chi ha l'impronta o il nome della bestia o il numero del suo nome.
18 Wisdom is needed here; one who understands can calculate the number of the beast, for it is a number that stands for a person. His number is six hundred and sixty-six.	18 Qui sta la sapienza! Chi ha intelligenza calcoli il numero della bestia, perchè è un numero d'uomo, e il suo numero è seicento sessantasei.
