1 After Abimelech there rose to save Israel the Issacharite Tola, son of Puah, son of Dodo, a resident of Shamir in the mountain region of Ephraim.	1 Après Abimélek, se leva pour sauver Israël Tola, fils de Pua, fils de Dodo. Il était d'Issachar et ilhabitait Shamir dans la montagne d'Ephraïm.
2 When he had judged Israel twenty-three years, he died and was buried in Shamir.	2 Il fut juge en Israël pendant 23 ans, puis il mourut et fut enseveli à Shamir.
3 Jair the Gileadite came after him and judged Israel twenty-two years.	3 Après lui se leva Yaïr de Galaad, qui jugea Israël pendant 22 ans.

6 The Israelites again offended the LORD, serving the Baals and Ashtaroths, the gods of Aram, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the Ammonites, and the gods of the Philistines. 7 the LORD became angry with Israel and allowed them to fall into the power of (the Philistines and) the Ammonites.	7 Alors la colère de Yahvé s'alluma contre Israël et il le livra aux mains des Philistins et aux mains desAmmonites.
8 For eighteen years they afflicted and oppressed the Israelites in Bashan, and all the Israelites in the Amorite land beyond the Jordan in Gilead.	8 Ceux-ci écrasèrent et opprimèrent les Israélites à partir de cette année-là pendant dix-huit ans, tousles Israélites qui habitaient au-delà du Jourdain, dans le pays amorite en Galaad.
9 The Ammonites also crossed the Jordan to fight against Judah, Benjamin, and the house of Ephraim, so that Israel was in great distress.	9 Les Ammonites passèrent le Jourdain pour combattre aussi Juda, Benjamin et la maison d'Ephraïm etla détresse d'Israël devint extrême.

11 The LORD answered the Israelites: "Did not the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines,	11 Et Yahvé dit aux Israélites: "Quand des Egyptiens et des Amorites, des Ammonites et desPhilistins,
12 the Sidonians, the Amalekites, and the Midianites oppress you? Yet when you cried out to me, and I saved you from their grasp,	12 quand les Sidoniens, Amaleq et Madiân vous opprimaient et que vous avez crié vers moi, ne vousai-je pas sauvés de leurs mains?
13 you still forsook me and worshiped other gods. Therefore I will save you no more.	13 Mais vous, vous m'avez abandonné et vous avez servi d'autres dieux. C'est pourquoi je ne voussauverai plus.
14 Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen; let them save you now that you are in distress."	14 Allez! Criez vers les dieux que vous avez choisis! Qu'ils vous sauvent, eux, au temps de votredétresse!"
15 But the Israelites said to the LORD, "We have sinned. Do to us whatever you please. Only save us this day."	15 Les Israélites répondirent à Yahvé: "Nous avons péché! Agis envers nous comme il te semblerabon, seulement, aujourd'hui délivre-nous!"
16 And they cast out the foreign gods from their midst and served the LORD, so that he grieved over the misery of Israel.	16 Ils firent disparaître de chez eux les dieux étrangers qu'ils avaient et ils servirent Yahvé. AlorsYahvé ne supporta pas plus longtemps la souffrance d'Israël.
17 The Ammonites had gathered for war and encamped in Gilead, while the Israelites assembled and encamped in Mizpah.	17 Les Ammonites se réunirent et campèrent à Galaad. Les Israélites se rassemblèrent et campèrent àMiçpa.
18 And among the people the princes of Gilead said to one another, "The one who begins the war against the Ammonites shall be leader of all the inhabitants of Gilead."	18 Alors le peuple, les chefs de Galaad, se dirent les uns aux autres: "Quel est l'homme quientreprendra d'attaquer les fils d'Ammon? Celui-là sera le chef de tous les habitants de Galaad."
