In times past, God spoke in partial and various ways to our ancestors through the prophets;1 At many moments in the past and by many means, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets;but
in these last days, he spoke to us through a son, whom he made heir of all things and through whom he created the universe,2 in our time, the final days, he has spoken to us in the person of his Son, whom he appointed heir of althings and through whom he made the ages.
who is the refulgence of his glory, the very imprint of his being, and who sustains all things by his mighty word. When he had accomplished purification from sins, he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty on high,3 He is the reflection of God's glory and bears the impress of God's own being, sustaining all things byhis powerful command; and now that he has purged sins away, he has taken his seat at the right hand of thedivine Majesty on high.
as far superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.4 So he is now as far above the angels as the title which he has inherited is higher than their own name.
For to which of the angels did God ever say: "You are my son; this day I have begotten you"? Or again: "I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me"?5 To which of the angels, then, has God ever said: You are my Son, today I have fathered you, or: I shalbe a father to him and he a son to me?
And again, when he leads the first-born into the world, he says: "Let all the angels of God worship him."6 Again, when he brings the First-born into the world, he says: Let all the angels of God pay him homage.
Of the angels he says: "He makes his angels winds and his ministers a fiery flame";7 To the angels, he says: appointing the winds his messengers and flames of fire his servants,
but of the Son: "Your throne, O God, stands forever and ever; and a righteous scepter is the scepter of your kingdom.8 but to the Son he says: Your throne, God, is for ever and ever; and: the sceptre of his kingdom is asceptre of justice;
You loved justice and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, anointed you with the oil of gladness above your companions";9 you love uprightness and detest evil. This is why God, your God, has anointed you with the oil ofgladness, as none of your rivals.
and: "At the beginning, O Lord, you established the earth, and the heavens are the works of your hands.10 And again: Long ago, Lord, you laid earth's foundations, the heavens are the work of your hands.
They will perish, but you remain; and they will all grow old like a garment.11 They pass away but you remain, they al wear out like a garment.
You will roll them up like a cloak, and like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end."12 Like a cloak you wil rol them up, like a garment, and they wil be changed. But you never alter andyour years are unending.
But to which of the angels has he ever said: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool"?13 To which of the angels has God ever said: Take your seat at my right hand til I have made yourenemies your footstool?
Are they not all ministering spirits sent to serve, for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?14 Are they not al ministering spirits, sent to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
