1 Now Jericho was in a state of siege because of the presence of the Israelites, so that no one left or entered.	1 Jericó estaba cerrada a cal y canto por mielo a los israelitas: nadie salía ni entraba.
2 And to Joshua the LORD said, "I have delivered Jericho and its king into your power.	2 Yahveh dijo a Josué: «Mira, yo pongo en tus manos a Jericó y a sus rey. Vosotros, valientes guerreros,
3 Have all the soldiers circle the city, marching once around it. Do this for six days,	3 todos los hombres de guerra, rodearéis la ciudad, (dando una vuelta alrededor. Así harás durante seis días.
4 with seven priests carrying ram's horns ahead of the ark. On the seventh day march around the city seven times, and have the priests blow the horns.	4 Siete sacerdotes llevarán las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del arca. El séptimo día daréis la vuelta a la ciudad siete veces y los sacerdotes tocarán las trompetas).
5 When they give a long blast on the ram's horns and you hear that signal, all the people shall shout aloud. The wall of the city will collapse, and they will be able to make a frontal attack."	5 Cuando el cuerno de carnero suene (cuando oigáis la voz de la trompeta), todo el pueblo prorrumpirá en un gran clamoreo y el muro de la ciudad se vendrá abajo. Y el pueblo se lanzará al asalto cada uno por frente a sí».
6 Summoning the priests, Joshua, son of Nun, then ordered them to take up the ark of the covenant with seven of the priests carrying ram's horns in front of the ark of the LORD.	6 Josué, hijo de Nun, llamó a los sacerdotes y les dijo: «Tomad el arca de la alianza y que siete sacerdotes lleven las trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del arca de Yahveh».
7 And he ordered the people to proceed in a circle around the city, with the picked troops marching ahead of the ark of the LORD.	7 Al pueblo le dijo: «Pasad y dad la vuelta a la ciudad y que la vanguardia pase delante del arca de Yahveh».
8 At this order they proceeded, with the seven priests who carried the ram's horns before the LORD blowing their horns, and the ark of the covenant of the LORD following them.	8 (Se hizo según la orden dada por Josué al pueblo). Siete sacerdotes llevando las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante de Yahveh pasaron y tocaron las trompetas; el arca de la alianza de Yahveh iba tras ellos;
9 In front of the priests with the horns marched the picked troops; the rear guard followed the ark, and the blowing of horns was kept up continually as they marched.	9 la vanguardia iba delante de los sacerdotes que tocaban las trompetas y la retaguardia marchaba detrás del arca. Según iban caminando, tocaban las trompetas.
10 But the people had been commanded by Joshua not to shout or make any noise or outcry until he gave the word: only then were they to shout.	10 Josué había dado esta orden al pueblo: «No gritéis, ni dejéis oír vuestras voces (que no salga ni una palabra de vuestra boca) hasta el día en que yo os diga: “Gritad.” Entonces gritaréis».
11 So he had the ark of the LORD circle the city, going once around it, after which they returned to camp for the night.	11 Hizo que el arca de Yahveh diera la vuelta a la ciudad (rodeándola una vez); luego volvieron al campamento, donde pasaron la noche.
12 Early the next morning, Joshua had the priests take up the ark of the LORD.	12 Josué se levantó de mañana y los sacerdotes tomaron el arca de Yahveh.
13 The seven priests bearing the ram's horns marched in front of the ark of the LORD, blowing their horns. Ahead of these marched the picked troops, while the rear guard followed the ark of the LORD, and the blowing of horns was kept up continually.	13 Siete sacerdotes, llevando las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del arca de Yahveh, iban caminando y tocando las trompetas según caminaban. La vanguardia iba delante de ellos y la retaguardia detrás del arca de Yahveh, desfilando al son de las trompetas.
14 On this second day they again marched around the city once before returning to camp; and for six days in all they did the same.	14 Dieron (el segundo día) una vuelta a la ciudad y volvieron al campamento. Se hizo lo mismo los seis días.
15 On the seventh day, beginning at daybreak, they marched around the city seven times in the same manner; on that day only did they march around the city seven times.	15 El séptimo día, se levantaron con el alba y dieron la vuelta a la ciudad (según el mismo rito) siete veces. (Sólo aquel día dieron la vuelta a la ciudad siete veces.)
16 The seventh time around, the priests blew the horns and Joshua said to the people, "Now shout, for the LORD has given you the city	16 La séptima vez, los sacerdotes tocaron la trompeta y Josué dijo al pueblo: «¡Lanzad el grito de guerra, porque Yahveh os ha entregado la ciudad!»
17 and everything in it. It is under the LORD'S ban. Only the harlot Rahab and all who are in the house with her are to be spared, because she hid the messengers we sent.	17 «La ciudad será consagrada como anatema a Yahveh con todo lo que haya en ella; únicamente, Rajab, la prostituta, quedará con vida, así como todos los que están con ella en su casa, por haber ocultado a los emisarios que enviamos.
18 But be careful not to take, in your greed, anything that is under the ban; else you will bring upon the camp of Israel this ban and the misery of it.	18 Pero vosotros guardoos del anatema, no vayáis a quedaros, llevados de la codicia, con algo de lo que es anatema, porque convertiráis en anatema todo el campamento de Israel y le acarrearíais la desgracia.
19 All silver and gold, and the articles of bronze or iron, are sacred to the LORD. They shall be put in the treasury of the LORD."	19 Toda la plata y todo el oro, todos los objetos de bronce y de hierro, están consagrados a Yahveh: ingresarán en su tesoro».
20 As the horns blew, the people began to shout. When they heard the signal horn, they raised a tremendous shout. The wall collapsed, and the people stormed the city in a frontal attack and took it.	20 El pueblo clamó y se tocaron las trompetas. Al escuchar el pueblo la voz de la trompeta, prorrumpió en gran clamor, y el muro se vino abajo. La gente escaló la ciudad, cada uno frente a sí, y se apoderaron de ella.
21 They observed the ban by putting to the sword all living creatures in the city: men and women, young and old, as well as oxen, sheep and asses.	21 Consagraron al anatema todo lo que había en la ciudad, hombres y mujeres, jóvenes y viejos, bueyes, ovejas y asnos, a filo de espada.
22 Joshua directed the two men who had spied out the land, "Go into the harlot's house and bring out the woman with all her kin, as you swore to her you would do."	22 Josué dijo a los dos hombres que habían explorado el país: «Entrad en la casa de la prostituta y haced salir de ella a esa mujer con todos los suyos, como se lo habéis jurado».
23 The spies entered and brought out Rahab, with her father, mother, brothers, and all her kin. Her entire family they led forth and placed them outside the camp of Israel.	23 Los jóvenes espías fueron e hicieron salir a Rajab, a su padre, a su madre, a sus hermanos y a todos los suyos. También hicieron salir a todos los de su familia y los pusieron a salvo, fuera del campamento de Israel.
24 The city itself they burned with all that was in it, except the silver, gold, and articles of bronze and iron, which were placed in the treasury of the house of the LORD.	24 Prendieron fuego a la ciudad con todo lo que contenía. Sólo la plata, el oro y los objetos de bronce y de hierro los depositaron el el tesoro de la casa de Yahveh.
25 Because Rahab the harlot had hidden the messengers whom Joshua had sent to reconnoiter Jericho, Joshua spared her with her family and all her kin, who continue in the midst of Israel to this day.	25 Pero a Rajab, la prostituta, así como a la casa de su padre y a todos los suyos, Josúe los conservó con vida. Ella se quedó en Israel hasta el día de hoy, por haber escondido a los emisarios que Josué había enviado a explorar Jericó.
26 On that occasion Joshua imposed the oath: Cursed before the LORD be the man who attempts to rebuild this city, Jericho. He shall lose his first-born when he lays its foundation, and he shall lose his youngest son when he sets up its gates.	26 En aquel tiempo Josué pronunció este juramento: ¡Maldito sea delante de Yahveh el hombre que se levante y reconstruya esta ciudad (de Jericó)! ¡Sobre su primogénito echará su cimiento y sobre su pequeño colocará las puertas!
27 Thus the LORD was with Joshua so that his fame spread throughout the land.	27 Y Yahveh estuvo con Josué, cuya fama se extendió por toda la tierra.
