1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,	1 Etant donc justifiés par la foi, ayons (nous avons) la paix avec Dieu par Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ,
2 through whom we have gained access (by faith) to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God.	2 à qui nous devons aussi d'avoir accès par la foi à cette grâce, dans laquelle nous demeurons fermes (nous sommes établis), et de nous glorifier dans l'espérance de la gloire des enfants de Dieu.
3 Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance,	3 Et non seulement cela, mais nous nous glorifions même dans les afflictions (tribulations), sachant que l'affliction (tribulation) produit la patience ;

14 But death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those who did not sin after the pattern of the trespass of Adam, who is the type of the one who was to come.	14 Cependant la mort a régné depuis Adam jusqu'à Moïse, même sur ceux qui n'avaient pas péché par une transgression semblable à celle d'Adam, qui est la figure de celui qui devait venir.
15 But the gift is not like the transgression. For if by that one person's transgression the many died, how much more did the grace of God and the gracious gift of the one person Jesus Christ overflow for the many.	15 Mais il n'en est pas du don comme du péché : car si, par le péché d'un seul, beaucoup sont morts, à plus forte raison la grâce et le don de Dieu se sont-ils répandus abondamment sur un grand nombre par la grâce d'un seul homme, Jésus-Christ.
16 And the gift is not like the result of the one person's sinning. For after one sin there was the judgment that brought condemnation; but the gift, after many transgressions, brought acquittal.	16 Et il n'en est pas du don comme du péché unique (venu par un seul) ; car le jugement est devenu condamnation pour un seul péché (vient d'un seul), tandis que la grâce est devenue (de la) justification après (délivre de) des fautes nombreuses.
17 For if, by the transgression of one person, death came to reign through that one, how much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of justification come to reign in life through the one person Jesus Christ.	17 Si donc, par la faute d'un seul, la mort a régné par ce seul homme, à plus forte raison ceux qui reçoivent l'abondance de la grâce, et du don, et de la justice, régneront-ils dans la vie par un seul, Jésus-Christ.
18 In conclusion, just as through one transgression condemnation came upon all, so through one righteous act acquittal and life came to all.	18 Ainsi donc, de même que par la faute d'un seul, la condamnation atteint tous les hommes, de même, par la justice d'un seul, la justification qui donne la vie s'étend à tous les hommes.
19 For just as through the disobedience of one person the many were made sinners, so through the obedience of one the many will be made righteous.	19 Car, comme beaucoup sont devenus pécheurs par la désobéissance d'un seul homme, de même beaucoup seront rendus justes par l'obéissance d'un seul.
20 The law entered in so that transgression might increase but, where sin increased, grace overflowed all the more,	20 Or la loi est survenue pour que la faute abondât ; mais là où la faute a abondé, la grâce a surabondé,
21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through justification for eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.	21 afin que, comme le péché a régné pour la mort, de même la grâce régnât aussi par la justice pour la vie éternelle, par Jésus-Christ Notre-Seigneur.
