1 Five days later the high priest Ananias came down with some elders and an advocate, a certain Tertullus, and they presented formal charges against Paul to the governor.	1 Cinco días después bajó el Sumo Sacerdote Ananías con algunos ancianos y un tal Tértulo, abogado, y presentaron ante el procurador acusación contra Pablo.
2 When he was called, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, "Since we have attained much peace through you, and reforms have been accomplished in this nation through your provident care,	2 Citado Pablo, Tértulo dio principio a la acusación diciendo: «Gracias a ti gozamos de mucha paz y las mejoras realizadas por tu providencia en beneficio de esta nación,
3 we acknowledge this in every way and everywhere, most excellent Felix, with all gratitude.	3 en todo y siempre las reconocemos, excelentísimo Félix, con todo agradecimiento.
4 But in order not to detain you further, I ask you to give us a brief hearing with your customary graciousness.	4 Pero para no molestarte más, te ruego que nos escuches un momento con tu característica clemencia.
5 We found this man to be a pest; he creates dissension among Jews all over the world and is a ringleader of the sect of the Nazoreans.	5 Hemos encontrado esta peste de hombre que provoca altercados entre los judíos de toda la tierra y que es el jefe principal de la secta de los nazoreos.
6 He even tried to desecrate our temple, but we arrested him.	6 Ha intentado además profanar el Templo, pero nosotros le apresamos.

8 If you examine him you will be able to learn from him for yourself about everything of which we are accusing him."	8 Interrogándole, podrás tú llegar a conocer a fondo todas estas cosas de que le acusamos».
9 The Jews also joined in the attack and asserted that these things were so.	9 Los judíos le apoyaron, afirmando que las cosas eran así.
10 Then the governor motioned to him to speak and Paul replied, "I know that you have been a judge over this nation for many years and so I am pleased to make my defense before you.	10 Entonces el procurador concedió la palabra a Pablo y éste respondió: «Yo sé que desde hace muchos años vienes juzgando a esta nación; por eso con toda confianza voy a exponer mi defensa.
11 As you can verify, not more than twelve days have passed since I went up to Jerusalem to worship.	11 Tú mismo lo puedes comprobar: No hace más de doce días que yo subí a Jerusalén en peregrinación.
12 Neither in the temple, nor in the synagogues, nor anywhere in the city did they find me arguing with anyone or instigating a riot among the people.	12 Y ni en el Templo, ni en las sinagogas ni por la ciudad me han encontrado discutiendo con nadie ni alborotando a la gente.
13 Nor can they prove to you the accusations they are now making against me.	13 Ni pueden tampoco probarte las cosas de que ahora me acusan.
14 But this I do admit to you, that according to the Way, which they call a sect, I worship the God of our ancestors and I believe everything that is in accordance with the law and written in the prophets.	14 «En cambio te confieso que según el Camino, que ellos llaman secta, doy culto al Dios de mis padres, creo en todo lo que se encuentra en la Ley y está escrito en los Profetas
15 I have the same hope in God as they themselves have that there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous.	15 y tengo en Dios la misma esperanza que éstos tienen, de que habrá una resurrección, tanto de los justos como de los pecadores.
16 Because of this, I always strive to keep my conscience clear before God and man.	16 Por eso yo también me esfuerzo por tener constantemente una conciencia limpia ante Dios y ante los hombres.
17 After many years, I came to bring alms for my nation and offerings.	17 «Al cabo de muchos años he venido a traer limosnas a los de mi nación y a presentar ofrendas.
18 While I was so engaged, they found me, after my purification, in the temple without a crowd or disturbance.	18 Y me encontraron realizando estas ofrendas en el Templo después de haberme purificado, y no entre tumulto de gente.
19 But some Jews from the province of Asia, who should be here before you to make whatever accusation they might have against me--	19 Y fueron algunos judíos de Asia... - que son los que debieran presentarse ante ti y acusarme si es que tienen algo contra mí;
20 or let these men themselves state what crime they discovered when I stood before the Sanhedrin,	20 o si no, que digan estos mismos qué crimen hallaron en mí cuando comparecí ante el Sanedrín,
21 unless it was my one outcry as I stood among them, that 'I am on trial before you today for the resurrection of the dead.'"	21 a no ser este solo grito que yo lancé estando en medio de ellos: “Yo soy juzgado hoy por vosotros a causa de la resurrección de los muertos».
22 Then Felix, who was accurately informed about the Way, postponed the trial, saying, "When Lysias the commander comes down, I shall decide your case."	22 Félix, que estaba bien informado en lo referente al Camino, les dio largas diciendo: «Cuando baje el tribuno Lisias decidiré vuestro asunto».
23 He gave orders to the centurion that he should be kept in custody but have some liberty, and that he should not prevent any of his friends from caring for his needs.	23 Y ordenó al centurión que custodiase a Pablo, que le dejase tener alguna libertad y que no impidiese a ninguno de los suyos el asistirle.
24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He had Paul summoned and listened to him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.	24 Después de unos días vino Félix con su esposa Drusila, que era judía; mandó traer a Pablo y le estuvo escuchando acerca de la fe en Cristo Jesús.
25 But as he spoke about righteousness and self-restraint and the coming judgment, Felix became frightened and said, "You may go for now; when I find an opportunity I shall summon you again."	25 Y al hablarle Pablo de la justicia, del dominio propio y del juicio futuro, Félix, aterrorizado, le interrumpió: «Por ahora puedes marcharte; cuando encuentre oportunidad te haré llamar».
26 At the same time he hoped that a bribe would be offered him by Paul, and so he sent for him very often and conversed with him.	26 Esperaba al mismo tiempo Félix que Pablo le diese dinero; por eso frecuentemente le mandaba a buscar y conversaba con él.
27 Two years passed and Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. Wishing to ingratiate himself with the Jews, Felix left Paul in prison.	27 Pasados dos años Félix recibió como sucesor a Porcio Festo; y queriendo congraciarse con los judíos, dejó a Pablo prisionero.
