1 When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together.	1 Giunto il giorno della Pentecoste stavano tutti insieme nel medesimo luogo,
2 And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were.	2 e all'improvviso venne dal cielo un rumore come di vento impetuoso e riempì tutta la casa dove si trovavano.
3 Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which parted and came to rest on each one of them.	3 Ed apparvero ad essi, distinte, delle lingue come di fuoco, e se ne posò una su ciascuno di loro:
4 And they were all filled with the holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.	4 e furono tutti ripieni di Spirito Santo e cominciarono a parlare vari linguaggi secondo che lo Spirito Santo dava loro di esprimersi.
5 Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem.	5 Or, fra gli ebrei residenti a Gerusalemme, c'eran persone pie d'ogni nazione sotto il cielo.
6 At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language.	6 Essendo venuto quel rumore, concorso la moltitudine, e rimase sba­lordita, sentendoli ciascuno parlare nella sua propria lingua.
7 They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, "Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans?	7 E ne stupivan tutti e ne facevan le maraviglie, dicendo: Ecco, questi che parlano non sono tutti Galilei?
8 Then how does each of us hear them in his own native language?	8 Come va che ognuno di noi li udiamo parlare nel nostro linguaggio natio?
9 We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,	9 Parti, Medi ed Elamiti, abitanti della Mesopotamia e della Giudea, della Cappadocia, del Ponto e dell'Asia,
10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome,	10 della Frigia, della Panfilia, dell'Egitto e dei paesi della Libia che è intorno a Cirene, e avventizi Romani,
11 both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God."	11 intanto i Giudei che i proseliti, Cretesi ed Arabi, li abbiamo uditi parlare nelle nostre lingue delle grandezze di Dio.
12 They were all astounded and bewildered, and said to one another, "What does this mean?"	12 E tutti ne stupivan ed eran pieni di maraviglia, dicendo: Che vuol essere questo?
13 But others said, scoffing, "They have had too much new wine."	13 Altri poi, facendosene beffe, dicevano: Ei son pieni di vin dolce.
14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed to them, "You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem. Let this be known to you, and listen to my words.	14 Ma Pietro, levatosi su con gli altri undici, alzò la voce e disse loro: Uomini di Giudea, e voi tutti che abitate in Gerusalemme, siavi noto questo, e date ascolto alle mie parole.
15 These people are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o'clock in the morning.	15 Costoro certo non sono briachi, come voi pensate, non essendo che la terza ora del giorno.
16 No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:	16 Avviene invece quello che fu detto dal profeta Gioele:
17 'It will come to pass in the last days,' God says, 'that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.	17 E avverrà negli ultimi giorni (dice il Signore) che io diffonderò il mio Spirito sopra tutti gli uomini, e i vostri figli e le vostre figlie profeteranno, i vostri giovani avranno delle visioni ed i vostri vecchi dei sogni.
18 Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy.	18 E sopra i miei servi e sopra le mie serve diffonderò il mio Spirito, in quei giorni, e profeteranno.
19 And I will work wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below: blood, fire, and a cloud of smoke.	19 E farò prodigi su in cielo e segni giù in terra, sangue e fuoco e vortici di fumo.
20 The sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and splendid day of the Lord,	20 Il sole si cangerà in tenebre e la luna in sangue, prima che venga il giorno grande e glorioso del Signore.
21 and it shall be that everyone shall be saved who calls on the name of the Lord.'	21 Allora chiunque avrà invocato il nome del Signore sarà salvo.
22 You who are Israelites, hear these words. Jesus the Nazorean was a man commended to you by God with mighty deeds, wonders, and signs, which God worked through him in your midst, as you yourselves know.	22 Israeliti, ascoltate queste parole: Gesù Nazzareno, uomo approvato da Dio tra voi, con opere potenti e prodigi e segni, che Dio fece per lui in mezzo a voi, come voi stessi sapete,
23 This man, delivered up by the set plan and foreknowledge of God, you killed, using lawless men to crucify him.	23 essendo stato per determinato consiglio e prescienza divina dato nelle vostre mani voi l'avete fatto morire crocifìggendolo per mano di empi;
24 But God raised him up, releasing him from the throes of death, because it was impossible for him to be held by it.	24 ma Dio l'ha risuscitato infranti i legami dolorosi della morte, essendo impossibile che ne fosse ritenuto,
25 For David says of him: 'I saw the Lord ever before me, with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed.	25 infatti David dice di lui: Ho avuto presente il Signore sempre nel mio cospetto essendo egli alla mia destra affinchè io non tremi.
26 Therefore my heart has been glad and my tongue has exulted; my flesh, too, will dwell in hope,	26 Per questo si è rallegrato il mio cuore e la mia lingua ha giubilato ed anche il mio corpo riposerà nella speranza;
27 because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld, nor will you suffer your holy one to see corruption.	27 perchè tu non lascerai l'anima mia nell'inferno e non permetterai che il tuo Santo vegga la corruzione.
28 You have made known to me the paths of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence.'	28 M'hai rese note le vie della vita e mi ricolmerai di gloria colla tua presenza.
29 My brothers, one can confidently say to you about the patriarch David that he died and was buried, and his tomb is in our midst to this day.	29 Fratelli, sia lecito di dirvi liberamente del patriarca David che morì e fu sepolto e la sua tomba è anche al presente presso di noi;
30 But since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,	30 ma essendo egli profeta o sapendo che Dio gli aveva promesso con giuramento di far sedere uno della sua stirpe sul suo trono,
31 he foresaw and spoke of the resurrection of the Messiah, that neither was he abandoned to the netherworld nor did his flesh see corruption.	31 profetando della risurrezione di Cristo, disse che egli non sarebbe stato lasciato nella morte e che la sua carne non avrebbe visto la corruzione.
32 God raised this Jesus; of this we are all witnesses.	32 Questo Gesù, Dio l'ha risuscitato e noi tutti ne siamo testimoni.
33 Exalted at the right hand of God, he received the promise of the holy Spirit from the Father and poured it forth, as you (both) see and hear.	33 Esaltato egli dunque alla destra di Dio, e ricevuta dal Padre promessa dello Spirito Santo, l'ha diffuso, come voi vedete e udite.
34 For David did not go up into heaven, but he himself said: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand	34 Certamente David non salì al cielo; eppure egli disse: Ha detto il Signore al mio Signore: Siedi alla mia destra,
35 until I make your enemies your footstool."'	35 sinchè non abbia posto i tuoi nemici a sgabello dei tuoi piedi.
36 Therefore let the whole house of Israel know for certain that God has made him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified."	36 Sappia dunque sicuramente tutta la casa d'Israele che Dio ha costituito Signore e Cristo questo Gesù che voi avete crocifisso.
37 Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and they asked Peter and the other apostles, "What are we to do, my brothers?"	37 Udite queste parole, si compunsero di cuore e dissero a Pietro e agli altri Apostoli: Che dobbiamo fare, fratelli?
38 Peter (said) to them, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the holy Spirit.	38 E Pietro disse loro: Fate penitenza, e ciascuno di voi si faccia battezzare nel nome di Gesù Cristo in remissione dei vostri peccati e riceverete il dono dello Spirito Santo.
39 For the promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord our God will call."	39 Perchè la promessa è per voi e per i vostri figlioli, e per tutti i lontani, quanti ne chiamerà il Signore Iddio nostro.
40 He testified with many other arguments, and was exhorting them, "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation."	40 E con altre moltissime parole li scongiurava e li esortava dicendo: Salvatevi da questa generazione perversa.
41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand persons were added that day.	41 Quelli adunque che accolsero la sua parola furono battezzati; e si aggiunsero in quel giorno circa tremila anime.
42 They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal life, to the breaking of the bread and to the prayers.	42 Ed erano assidui all'istruzione degli Apostoli, nell'unione, nella frazione del pane e nelle preghiere.
43 Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.	43 E tutta la gente era in apprensione, e molti prodigi e segni si facevano dagli Apostoli in Gerusalemme, e tutti stavano in gran timore.
44 All who believed were together and had all things in common;	44 E tutti i credenti stavano insieme ed avevano tutto in comune.
45 they would sell their property and possessions and divide them among all according to each one's need.	45 Vendevano le possessioni ed i beni e ne distribuivano il ricavato a tutti, secondo il bisogno di ciascuno.
46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple area and to breaking bread in their homes. They ate their meals with exultation and sincerity of heart,	46 Ed ogni giorno di comune accordo erano assidui al tempio, e spezzando il pane nelle case, prendevano cibo con gioia e semplicità di cuore,
47 praising God and enjoying favor with all the people. And every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.	47 lodando Dio, ben veduti da tutto il popolo. Il Signore poi aggiungeva a questi quelli che dovevano essere salvi.
