1 "Then we turned and proceeded toward Bashan. But Og, king of Bashan, advanced against us with all his people to give battle at Edrei.	1 Wir zogen dann in der Richtung nach Basan weiter. Da rückte Og, der König von Basan, uns entgegen mit seinem gesamten Kriegsvolk zur Schlacht bei Edreï.
2 The LORD, however, said to me, 'Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hand with all his people and his land. Do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon.'	2 Der Herr aber sprach zu mir: "Fürchte dich nicht vor ihm; denn in deine Gewalt übergebe ich ihn, sein ganzes Kriegsvolk und sein Gebiet. Tue mit ihm, wie du mit dem Amoriterkönig Sichon getan hast, der in Hesbon wohnte!"
3 And thus the LORD, our God, delivered into our hands Og, king of Bashan, with all his people. We defeated him so completely that we left him no survivor.	3 So gab der Herr, unser Gott, auch Og, den König von Basan, in unsere Gewalt, samt seinem ganzen Kriegsvolk. Wir schlugen ihn so, daß keiner übrigblieb.
4 At that time we captured all his cities, none of them eluding our grasp, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan: sixty cities in all,	4 Zu jener Zeit nahmen wir all ihre Städte ein; es gab keine feste Stätte, die wir ihnen nicht abgenommen hätten: sechzig Städte, den ganzen Bezirk von Argob, das Königreich Ogs in Basan.
5 to say nothing of the great number of unwalled towns. All the cities were fortified with high walls and gates and bars.	5 All diese Städte waren mit hohen Mauern, Toren und Riege]n befestigt; dazu kamen offene Landstädte in hoher Zahl.
6 As we had done to Sihon, king of Heshbon, so also here we doomed all the cities, with their men, women and children;	6 Wir vollstreckten an ihnen den Bann wie an Sichon, dem König von Hesbon, und bannten dabei in jeder Stadt die Männer, Frauen und Kinder.
7 but all the livestock and the loot of each city we took as booty for ourselves.	7 Jedoch sämtliches Vieh und Beutegut aus den Städten nahmen wir an uns.
8 "And so at that time we took from the two kings of the Amorites beyond the Jordan the territory from the Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon	8 So nahmen wir damals den beiden Amoriterkönigen das Land jenseits des Jordans vom Arnonbach bis zum Hermongebirge
9 (which is called Sirion by the Sidonians and Senir by the Amorites),	9 [die Sidonier nennen den Hermon Sirjon, die Amoriter dagegen Senir],
10 comprising all the cities of the plateau and all Gilead and all the cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan including Salecah and Edrei.	10 alle Städte in der Ebene, ganz Gilead, ganz Basan bis Salcha und Edreï, die Städte des Königreiches Ogs in Basan.
11 (Og, king of Bashan, was the last remaining survivor of the Rephaim. He had a bed of iron, nine regular cubits long and four wide, which is still preserved in Rabbah of the Ammonites.)	11 Denn Og, der König von Basan, war der letzte Nachkomme der Rephaiter; sein eisernes Bett ist noch in der Ammoniterstadt Rabba zu sehen; es mißt neun Ellen in der Länge und vier Ellen in der Breite nach gewöhnlichem Maß.
12 "When we occupied the land at that time, I gave Reuben and Gad the territory from Aroer, on the edge of the Wadi Arnon, halfway up into the highlands of Gilead, with the cities therein.	12 Dieses Land haben wir in jener Zeit eingenommen. Von Aroer an, das am Arnonfluß liegt, übergab ich es mit der Hälfte des Gebirges Gilead und den zugehörigen Städten den Rubeniten und den Gaditen.
13 The rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, the whole Argob region, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh. (All this region of Bashan was once called a land of the Rephaim.	13 Den übrigen Teil von Gilead und ganz Basan, das Königreich Ogs, überließ ich dem halben Stamm Manasse; das ganze Gebiet von Argob, ganz Basan, heißt Land der Rephaiter.
14 Jair, a Manassehite clan, took all the region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and Maacathites, and called it after his own name Bashan Havvoth-jair, the name it bears today.)	14 Jaïr, der Manassesohn, hatte den ganzen Bezirk Argob bis zum Gebiete der Geschuriter und der Maachatiter erobert und diese Orte (Basan) nach seinem Namen "Zeltdörfer Jaïrs" genannt. So heißen sie bis heute.
15 To Machir I gave Gilead,	15 Dem Machir aber gab ich Gilead.
16 and to Reuben and Gad the territory from Gilead to the Wadi Arnon--including the wadi bed and its banks--and to the Wadi Jabbok, which is the border of the Ammonites,	16 Den Rubeniten und Gaditen übergab ich das Land von Gilead an bis zum Arnonfluß - den Mittellauf des Flusses mit seinem Gebiet - und bis zum Jabbokfluß, der Grenze der Ammoniter,
17 as well as the Arabah with the Jordan and its eastern banks from Chinnereth to the Salt Sea of the Arabah, under the slopes of Pisgah.	17 ferner die Steppe mit dem Jordan als Grenze vom See Kinneret an bis zum Meer der Steppe, dem Salzmeer am Fuß der Abhänge des Pisga im Osten.
18 "At that time I charged them as follows 'The LORD, your God, has given you this land as your own. But all you troops equipped for battle must cross over in the vanguard of your brother Israelites.	18 Ich gebot ihnen damals folgendes: Der Herr, euer Gott, hat euch dieses Land zum Besitz gegeben; nur müssen all eure kriegstüchtigen Leute gerüstet den Israeliten, euren Brüdern, im Kampf voranziehen.
19 Only your wives and children, as well as your livestock, of which I know you have a large number, shall remain behind in the towns I have given you,	19 Lediglich eure Frauen und Kinder und eure Herden - ich weiß, daß ihr deren viele habt - sollen sich in euren Städten, die ich euch verliehen habe, ansiedeln,
20 until the LORD has settled your kinsmen as well, and they too possess the land which the LORD, your God, will give them on the other side of the Jordan. Then you may all return to the possessions I have given you.'	20 bis der Herr euren Brüdern ebenso wie euch Ruhe verliehen hat und auch sie das Land in Besitz genommen haben, das der Herr, euer Gott, ihnen jenseits des Jordans geben will. Dann mögt ihr heimkehren, ein jeder in sein Besitztum, das ich euch übergeben habe.
21 "It was then that I instructed Joshua, 'Your eyes have seen all that the LORD, your God, has done to both these kings; so, too, will the LORD do to all the kingdoms which you will encounter over there.	21 Dem Josua gab ich damals folgende Anordnung: Deine eigenen Augen haben alles mitangesehen, was der Herr, euer Gott, diesen beiden Königen angetan hat; also wird der Herr mit allen Königreichen verfahren, wohin immer du ziehst.
22 Fear them not, for the LORD, your God, will fight for you.'	22 Du brauchst sie nicht zu fürchten; denn der Herr, euer Gott, ist es, der mit euch kämpft.
23 "And it was then that I besought the LORD,	23 Ich flehte damals zum Herrn und bat:
24 'O Lord GOD, you have begun to show to your servant your greatness and might. For what god in heaven or on earth can perform deeds as mighty as yours?	24 O Herr, Herr! Du hast nunmehr deinem Knechte gezeigt, wie groß du bist und wie stark deine Hand ist! Wo ist denn im Himmel und auf Erden ein solcher Gott, der ähnliche Werke und Heldentaten verrichten könnte wie du!
25 Ah, let me cross over and see this good land beyond the Jordan, this fine hill country, and the Lebanon!'	25 Auch ich möchte hinüber, möchte das schöne Land schauen, das jenseits des Jordans ist, diese herrlichen Berge und den Libanon!
26 But the LORD was angry with me on your account and would not hear me. 'Enough!' the LORD said to me. 'Speak to me no more of this.	26 Doch der Herr zürnte mir um euretwillen und erhörte mich nicht, vielmehr sprach der Herr zu mir: Genug! Rede zu mir nichts weiter in dieser Sache!
27 Go up to the top of Pisgah and look out to the west, and to the north, and to the south, and to the east. Look well, for you shall not cross this Jordan.	27 Steige hinauf auf den Gipfel des Pisga und erhebe deine Augen nach Westen, Norden, Süden und Osten, damit du es mit deinen eigenen Augen ansiehst! Denn den Jordan überschreitest du nicht.
28 Commission Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him, for he shall cross at the head of this people and shall put them in possession of the land you are to see.'	28 Josua aber gib Anordnung, ermutige und stärke ihn; denn er soll an dieses Volkes Spitze hinüberziehen; er soll ihnen zum Besitz des von dir geschauten Landes verhelfen.
29 This was while we were in the ravine opposite Beth-peor.	29 Wir aber blieben im Tal gegenüber von Bet-Peor.
