Deuteronomy 22

1 "You shall not see your kinsman's ox or sheep driven astray without showing concern about it; see to it that it is returned to your kinsman.	1 Se vedi smarrito un capo di bestiame grosso o un capo di bestiame minuto di tuo fratello, non devi fingere di non averli scorti, ma avrai cura di ricondurli a tuo fratello.
2 If this kinsman does not live near you, or you do not know who he may be, take it to your own place and keep it with you until he claims it; then give it back to him.	2 Se tuo fratello non abita vicino a te e non lo conosci, accoglierai l’animale in casa tua: rimarrà da te finché tuo fratello non ne faccia ricerca e allora glielo renderai.
3 You shall do the same with his ass, or his garment, or anything else which your kinsman loses and you happen to find; you may not be unconcerned about them.	3 Lo stesso farai del suo asino, lo stesso della sua veste, lo stesso di ogni altro oggetto che tuo fratello abbia perduto e che tu trovi. Non fingerai di non averli scorti.
4 You shall not see your kinsman's ass or ox foundering on the road without showing concern about it; see to it that you help him lift it up.	4 Se vedi l’asino di tuo fratello o il suo bue caduto lungo la strada, non fingerai di non averli scorti, ma insieme con lui li farai rialzare.
5 "A woman shall not wear an article proper to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman's dress; for anyone who does such things is an abomination to the LORD, your God.	5 La donna non si metterà un indumento da uomo né l’uomo indosserà una veste da donna, perché chiunque fa tali cose è in abominio al Signore, tuo Dio.
6 "If, while walking along, you chance upon a bird's nest with young birds or eggs in it, in any tree or on the ground, and the mother bird is sitting on them, you shall not take away the mother bird along with her brood;	6 Quando, cammin facendo, troverai sopra un albero o per terra un nido d’uccelli con uccellini o uova e la madre che sta covando gli uccellini o le uova, non prenderai la madre che è con i figli.
7 you shall let her go, although you may take her brood away. It is thus that you shall have prosperity and a long life.	7 Lascia andar via la madre e prendi per te i figli, perché tu sia felice e goda lunga vita.
8 "When you build a new house, put a parapet around the roof; otherwise, if someone falls off, you will bring bloodguilt upon your house.	8 Quando costruirai una casa nuova, farai un parapetto intorno alla tua terrazza, per non attirare sulla tua casa la vendetta del sangue, qualora uno cada di là.
9 "You shall not sow your vineyard with two different kinds of seed; if you do, its produce shall become forfeit, both the crop you have sown and the yield of the vineyard.	9 Non seminerai nella tua vigna semi di due specie diverse, perché altrimenti tutto il prodotto di ciò che avrai seminato e la rendita della vigna diventerà cosa sacra.
10 You shall not plow with an ox and an ass harnessed together.	10 Non devi arare con un bue e un asino aggiogati assieme.
11 You shall not wear cloth of two different kinds of thread, wool and linen, woven together.	11 Non ti vestirai con un tessuto misto, fatto di lana e di lino insieme.
12 "You shall put twisted cords on the four corners of the cloak that you wrap around you.	12 Metterai fiocchi alle quattro estremità del mantello con cui ti copri.
13 "If a man, after marrying a woman and having relations with her, comes to dislike her,	13 Se un uomo sposa una donna e, dopo essersi unito a lei, la prende in odio,
14 and makes monstrous charges against her and defames her by saying, 'I married this woman, but when I first had relations with her I did not find her a virgin,'	14 le attribuisce azioni scandalose e diffonde sul suo conto una fama cattiva, dicendo: “Ho preso questa donna, ma quando mi sono accostato a lei non l’ho trovata in stato di verginità”,
15 the father and mother of the girl shall take the evidence of her virginity and bring it to the elders at the city gate.	15 il padre e la madre della giovane prenderanno i segni della verginità della giovane e li presenteranno agli anziani della città, alla porta.
16 There the father of the girl shall say to the elders, 'I gave my daughter to this man in marriage, but he has come to dislike her,	16 Il padre della giovane dirà agli anziani: “Ho dato mia figlia in moglie a quest’uomo; egli l’ha presa in odio
17 and now brings monstrous charges against her, saying: I did not find your daughter a virgin. But here is the evidence of my daughter's virginity!' And they shall spread out the cloth before the elders of the city.	17 ed ecco, le attribuisce azioni scandalose, dicendo: Non ho trovato tua figlia in stato di verginità; ebbene, questi sono i segni della verginità di mia figlia”, e spiegheranno il panno davanti agli anziani della città.
18 Then these city elders shall take the man and chastise him,	18 Allora gli anziani di quella città prenderanno il marito, lo castigheranno
19 besides fining him one hundred silver shekels, which they shall give to the girl's father, because the man defamed a virgin in Israel. Moreover, she shall remain his wife, and he may not divorce her as long as he lives.	19 e gli imporranno un’ammenda di cento sicli d’argento, che daranno al padre della giovane, per il fatto che ha diffuso una cattiva fama contro una vergine d’Israele. Ella rimarrà sua moglie ed egli non potrà ripudiarla per tutto il tempo della sua vita.
20 "But if this charge is true, and evidence of the girl's virginity is not found,	20 Ma se la cosa è vera, se la giovane non è stata trovata in stato di verginità,
21 they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her father's house and there her townsmen shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.	21 allora la faranno uscire all’ingresso della casa del padre e la gente della sua città la lapiderà a morte, perché ha commesso un’infamia in Israele, disonorandosi in casa del padre. Così estirperai il male in mezzo a te.
22 "If a man is discovered having relations with a woman who is married to another, both the man and the woman with whom he has had relations shall die. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.	22 Quando un uomo verrà trovato a giacere con una donna maritata, tutti e due dovranno morire: l’uomo che è giaciuto con la donna e la donna. Così estirperai il male da Israele.
23 "If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her,	23 Quando una fanciulla vergine è fidanzata e un uomo, trovandola in città, giace con lei,
24 you shall bring them both out to the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbor's wife. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.	24 condurrete tutti e due alla porta di quella città e li lapiderete a morte: la fanciulla, perché, essendo in città, non ha gridato, e l’uomo perché ha disonorato la donna del suo prossimo. Così estirperai il male in mezzo a te.
25 "If, however, it is in the open fields that a man comes upon such a betrothed maiden, seizes her and has relations with her, the man alone shall die.	25 Ma se l’uomo trova per i campi la fanciulla fidanzata e facendole violenza giace con lei, allora dovrà morire soltanto l’uomo che è giaciuto con lei,
26 You shall do nothing to the maiden, since she is not guilty of a capital offense. This case is like that of a man who rises up against his neighbor and murders him:	26 ma non farai nulla alla fanciulla. Nella fanciulla non c’è colpa degna di morte: come quando un uomo assale il suo prossimo e l’uccide, così è in questo caso,
27 it was in the open fields that he came upon her, and though the betrothed maiden may have cried out for help, there was no one to come to her aid.	27 perché egli l’ha incontrata per i campi. La giovane fidanzata ha potuto gridare, ma non c’era nessuno per venirle in aiuto.
28 "If a man comes upon a maiden that is not betrothed, takes her and has relations with her, and their deed is discovered,	28 Se un uomo trova una fanciulla vergine che non sia fidanzata, l’afferra e giace con lei e sono colti in flagrante,
29 the man who had relations with her shall pay the girl's father fifty silver shekels and take her as his wife, because he has deflowered her. Moreover, he may not divorce her as long as he lives.	29 l’uomo che è giaciuto con lei darà al padre della fanciulla cinquanta sicli d’argento; ella sarà sua moglie, per il fatto che egli l’ha disonorata, e non potrà ripudiarla per tutto il tempo della sua vita.
