1 When they drew near Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples,	1 Cuando se aproximaron a Jerusalén, al llegar a Betfagé, junto al monte de los Olivos, entonces envió Jesús a dos discípulos,
2 saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find an ass tethered, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them here to me.	2 diciéndoles: «Id al pueblo que está enfrente de vosotros, y enseguida encontraréis un asna atada y un pollino con ella; desatadlos y traédmelos.
3 And if anyone should say anything to you, reply, 'The master has need of them.' Then he will send them at once."	3 Y si alguien os dice algo, diréis: El Señor los necesita, pero enseguida los devolverá».
4 This happened so that what had been spoken through the prophet might be fulfilled:	4 Esto sucedió para que se cumpliese el oráculo del profeta:
5 "Say to daughter Zion, 'Behold, your king comes to you, meek and riding on an ass, and on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.'"	5 Decid a la hija de Sión: He aquí que tu Rey viene a ti, manso y montado en un asna y un pollino, hijo de animal de yugo.
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had ordered them.	6 Fueron, pues, los discípulos e hicieron como Jesús les había encargado:
7 They brought the ass and the colt and laid their cloaks over them, and he sat upon them.	7 trajeron el asna y el pollino. Luego pusieron sobre ellos sus mantos, y él se sentó encima.
8 The very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and strewed them on the road.	8 La gente, muy numerosa, extendió sus mantos por el camino; otros cortaban ramas de los árboles y las tendían por el camino.
9 The crowds preceding him and those following kept crying out and saying: "Hosanna to the Son of David; blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord; hosanna in the highest."	9 Y la gente que iba delante y detrás de él gritaba: «¡Hosanna al Hijo de David! ¡Bendito el que viene en nombre del Señor! ¡Hosanna en las alturas!»
10 And when he entered Jerusalem the whole city was shaken and asked, "Who is this?"	10 Y al entrar él en Jerusalén, toda la ciudad se conmovió. «¿Quién es éste?» decían.
11 And the crowds replied, "This is Jesus the prophet, from Nazareth in Galilee."	11 Y la gente decía: «Este es el profeta Jesús, de Nazaret de Galilea».
12 Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all those engaged in selling and buying there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves.	12 Entró Jesús en el Templo y echó fuera a todos los que vendían y compraban en el Templo; volcó las mesas de los cambistas y los puestos de los vendedores de palomas.
13 And he said to them, "It is written: 'My house shall be a house of prayer,' but you are making it a den of thieves."	13 Y les dijo: «Está escrito: Mi Casa será llamada Casa de oración. ¡Pero vosotros estáis haciendo de ella una cueva de bandidos!»
14 The blind and the lame approached him in the temple area, and he cured them.	14 También en el Templo se acercaron a él algunos ciegos y cojos, y los curó.
15 When the chief priests and the scribes saw the wondrous things he was doing, and the children crying out in the temple area, "Hosanna to the Son of David," they were indignant	15 Mas los sumos sacerdotes y los escribas, al ver los milagros que había hecho y a los niños que gritaban en el Templo: «¡Hosanna al Hijo de David!», se indignaron
16 and said to him, "Do you hear what they are saying?" Jesus said to them, "Yes; and have you never read the text, 'Out of the mouths of infants and nurslings you have brought forth praise'?"	16 y le dijeron: «¿Oyes lo que dicen éstos?» «Sí - les dice Jesús -. ¿No habéis leído nunca que De la boca de los niños y de los que aún maman te preparaste alabanza?»
17 And leaving them, he went out of the city to Bethany, and there he spent the night.	17 Y dejándolos, salió fuera de la ciudad, a Betania, donde pasó la noche.
18 When he was going back to the city in the morning, he was hungry.	18 Al amanecer, cuando volvía a la ciudad, sintió hambre;
19 Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went over to it, but found nothing on it except leaves. And he said to it, "May no fruit ever come from you again." And immediately the fig tree withered.	19 y viendo una higuera junto al camino, se acercó a ella, pero no encontró en ella más que hojas. Entonces le dice: «¡Que nunca jamás brote fruto de ti!» Y al momento se secó la higuera.
20 When the disciples saw this, they were amazed and said, "How was it that the fig tree withered immediately?"	20 Al verlo los discípulos se maravillaron y decían: «¿Cómo al momento quedó seca la higuera?»
21 Jesus said to them in reply, "Amen, I say to you, if you have faith and do not waver, not only will you do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' it will be done.	21 Jesús les respondió: «Yo os aseguro: si tenéis fe y no vaciláis, no sólo haréis lo de la higuera, sino que si aun decís a este monte: “Quítate y arrójate al mar”, así se hará.
22 Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive."	22 Y todo cuanto pidáis con fe en la oración, lo recibiréis».
23 When he had come into the temple area, the chief priests and the elders of the people approached him as he was teaching and said, "By what authority are you doing these things? And who gave you this authority?"	23 Llegado al Templo, mientras enseñaba se le acercaron los sumos sacerdotes y los ancianos del pueblo diciendo: «¿Con qué autoridad haces esto? ¿Y quién te ha dado tal autoridad?»
24 Jesus said to them in reply, "I shall ask you one question, and if you answer it for me, then I shall tell you by what authority I do these things.	24 Jesús les respondió: «También yo os voy a preguntar una cosa; si me contestáis a ella, yo os diré a mi vez con qué autoridad hago esto.
25 Where was John's baptism from? Was it of heavenly or of human origin?" They discussed this among themselves and said, "If we say 'Of heavenly origin,' he will say to us, 'Then why did you not believe him?'	25 El bautismo de Juan, ¿de dónde era?, ¿del cielo o de los hombres?» Ellos discurrían entre sí: «Si decimos: “Del cielo”, nos dirá: “Entonces ¿por qué no le creísteis?”
26 But if we say, 'Of human origin,' we fear the crowd, for they all regard John as a prophet."	26 Y si decimos: “De los hombres”, tenemos miedo a la gente, pues todos tienen a Juan por profeta».
27 So they said to Jesus in reply, "We do not know." He himself said to them, "Neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things.	27 Respondieron, pues, a Jesús: «No sabemos». Y él les replicó asimismo: «Tampoco yo os digo con qué autoridad hago esto».
28 "What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He came to the first and said, 'Son, go out and work in the vineyard today.'	28 «Pero ¿qué os parece? Un hombre tenía dos hijos. Llegándose al primero, le dijo: “Hijo, vete hoy a trabajar en la viña.”
29 He said in reply, 'I will not,' but afterwards he changed his mind and went.	29 Y él respondió: “No quiero”, pero después se arrepintió y fue.
30 The man came to the other son and gave the same order. He said in reply, 'Yes, sir,' but did not go.	30 Llegándose al segundo, le dijo lo mismo. Y él respondió: “Voy, Señor”, y no fue.
31 Which of the two did his father's will?" They answered, "The first." Jesus said to them, "Amen, I say to you, tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you.	31 ¿Cuál de los dos hizo la voluntad del padre?» - «El primero» - le dicen. 32 When John came to you in the way of righteousness, you did not believe him; but tax collectors and prostitutes did. 33 "Hear another parable. There was a landowner who planted a vineyard, put a hedge around it, dug a wine press in it, and built a tower. Then he leased it to tenants and went on a journey.	33 «Escuchad otra parábola. Era un propietario que plantó una viña, la rodeó de una cerca, cavó en ella un lagar y edificó una torre; la arrendó a unos labradores y se ausentó.
34 When vintage time drew near, he sent his servants to the tenants to obtain his produce.	34 Cuando llegó el tiempo de los frutos, envió sus siervos a los labradores para recibir sus frutos.
35 But the tenants seized the servants and one they beat, another they killed, and a third they stoned.	35 Pero los labradores agarraron a los siervos, y a uno le golpearon, a otro le mataron, a otro le apedrearon.
36 Again he sent other servants, more numerous than the first ones, but they treated them in the same way.	36 De nuevo envió otros siervos en mayor número que los primeros; pero los trataron de la misma manera.
37 Finally, he sent his son to them, thinking, 'They will respect my son.'	37 Finalmente les envió a su hijo, diciendo: “A mi hijo le respetarán.”
38 But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and acquire his inheritance.'	38 Pero los labradores, al ver al hijo, se dijeron entre sí: “Este es el heredero. Vamos, matémosle y quedémonos con su herencia.”
39 They seized him, threw him out of the vineyard, and killed him.	39 Y agarrándole, le echaron fuera de la viña y le mataron.
40 What will the owner of the vineyard do to those tenants when he comes?"	40 Cuando venga, pues, el dueño de la viña, ¿qué hará con aquellos labradores?»
41 They answered him, "He will put those wretched men to a wretched death and lease his vineyard to other tenants who will give him the produce at the proper times."	41 Dícenle: «A esos miserables les dará una muerte miserable arrendará la viña a otros labradores, que le paguen los frutos a su tiempo».
42 Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the scriptures: 'The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; by the Lord has this been done, and it is wonderful in our eyes'?	42 Y Jesús les dice: «¿No habéis leído nunca en las Escrituras: La piedra que los constructores desecharon, en piedra angular se ha convertido; fue el Señor quien hizo esto y es maravilloso a nuestros ojos?
43 Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.	43 Por eso os digo: Se os quitará el Reino de Dios para dárselo a un pueblo que rinda sus frutos».
44 ( The one who falls on this stone will be dashed to pieces; and it will crush anyone on whom it falls.)"
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they knew that he was speaking about them.	45 Los sumos sacerdotes y los fariseos, al oír sus parábolas, comprendieron que estaba refiriéndose a ellos.
46 And although they were attempting to arrest him, they feared the crowds, for they regarded him as a prophet.	46 Y trataban de detenerle, pero tuvieron miedo a la gente porque le tenían por profeta.
