Woe to the city, rebellious and polluted, to the tyrannical city!1 ¡Ay de la ciudad rebelde, | impura, tiránica!
She hears no voice, accepts no correction; In the LORD she has not trusted, to her God she has not drawn near.2 No ha escuchado la llamada, | no ha aceptado la lección; | no ha confiado en el Señor, | no ha recurrido a su Dios.
Her princes in her midst are roaring lions; Her judges are wolves of the night that have had no bones to gnaw by morning.3 Los jefes que habitan en ella | son como leones rugientes; | sus jueces, igual que lobos: | nada dejan para roer | de la noche a la mañana;
Her prophets are insolent, treacherous men; Her priests profane what is holy, and do violence to the law.4 sus profetas, fanfarrones y traidores; | sus sacerdotes profanan lo sagrado | y quebrantan la ley.
The LORD within her is just, who does no wrong; Morning after morning he renders judgment unfailingly, at dawn.5 El Señor que habita en ella | es justo, no comete injusticia; | cada mañana va sacando a la luz | el derecho; nunca falla; | pero el malvado no sabe | lo que es la vergüenza.
I have destroyed nations, their battlements are laid waste; I have made their streets deserted, with no one passing through; Their cities are devastated, with no man dwelling in them.6 Aniquilé pueblos, arruiné torreones, | asolé calles hasta vaciarlas, | sus ciudades han sido devastadas, | han quedado sin nadie que las habite.
I said, "Surely now you will fear me, you will accept correction"; She should not fail to see all I have visited upon her. Yet all the more eagerly have they done all their corrupt deeds.7 Me decía: «A ver si así me respetan | y aceptan la lección, | y no cae sobre ella | todo lo que he decidido». | ¡Pero, no! Se apresuraron a pervertir | aún más todas sus acciones.
Therefore, wait for me, says the LORD, against the day when I arise as accuser; For it is my decision to gather together the nations, to assemble the kingdoms, In order to pour out upon them my wrath, all my blazing anger; For in the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be consumed.8 Por eso —oráculo del Señor— | preparaos para el día que me levante | como testigo, pues he decretado | acabar con los pueblos, | convocar a los reinos para derramar | sobre ellos mi furor, | todo el ardor de mi ira, | pues en el fuego de mi celo | se consumirá toda la tierra.
For then I will change and purify the lips of the peoples, That they all may call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one accord;9 Entonces purificaré | los labios de los pueblos | para que invoquen todos ellos | el nombre del Señor | y todos lo sirvan a una.
From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia and as far as the recesses of the North, they shall bring me offerings.10 Desde las orillas de los ríos de Cus, | mis adoradores, los deportados, | traerán mi ofrenda.
On that day You need not be ashamed of all your deeds, your rebellious actions against me; For then will I remove from your midst the proud braggarts, And you shall no longer exalt yourself on my holy mountain.11 Aquel día, ya no te avergonzarás | de las acciones con que me ofendiste, | pues te arrancaré tu orgullosa arrogancia, | y dejarás de engreírte en mi santa montaña.
But I will leave as a remnant in your midst a people humble and lowly, Who shall take refuge in the name of the LORD;12 Dejaré en ti un resto, | un pueblo humilde y pobre | que buscará refugio en el nombre del Señor.
the remnant of Israel. They shall do no wrong and speak no lies; Nor shall there be found in their mouths a deceitful tongue; They shall pasture and couch their flocks with none to disturb them.13 El resto de Israel no hará más el mal, | no mentirá ni habrá engaño en su boca. | Pastarán y descansarán, | y no habrá quien los inquiete.
Shout for joy, O daughter Zion! sing joyfully, O Israel! Be glad and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem!14 Alégrate hija de Sión, grita de gozo Israel, | regocíjate y disfruta con todo tu ser, hija de Jerusalén.
The LORD has removed the judgment against you, he has turned away your enemies; The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst, you have no further misfortune to fear.15 El Señor ha revocado tu sentencia, | ha expulsado a tu enemigo. | El rey de Israel, el Señor, | está en medio de ti, | no temas mal alguno.
On that day, it shall be said to Jerusalem: Fear not, O Zion, be not discouraged!16 Aquel día se dirá a Jerusalén: | «¡No temas! ¡Sión, no desfallezcas!».
The LORD, your God, is in your midst, a mighty savior; He will rejoice over you with gladness, and renew you in his love, He will sing joyfully because of you,17 El Señor tu Dios está en medio de ti, | valiente y salvador; | se alegra y goza contigo, | te renueva con su amor; | exulta y se alegra contigo
as one sings at festivals. I will remove disaster from among you, so that none may recount your disgrace.18 como en día de fiesta. | Acabé con tu mal, | con el peso de tu oprobio.
Yes, at that time I will deal with all who oppress you; I will save the lame, and assemble the outcasts; I will give them praise and renown in all the earth, when I bring about their restoration.19 En aquel tiempo me ocuparé | de todos tus opresores; | salvaré a los tullidos, | reuniré a los dispersos, | les daré alabanza y renombre | a cambio de la vergüenza que pasaron.
At that time I will bring you home, and at that time I will gather you; For I will give you renown and praise, among all the peoples of the earth, When I bring about your restoration before your very eyes, says the LORD.20 Cuando os haga volver, cuando os reúna, | os daré renombre y alabanza | entre todas las naciones de la tierra, | cuando cambie vuestro destino, | ante vuestros ojos, dice el Señor.
