Zephaniah 3

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Woe to the city, rebellious and polluted, to the tyrannical city!	1 Malheur à la rebelle, la souillée, à la ville tyrannique!
2 She hears no voice, accepts no correction; In the LORD she has not trusted, to her God she has not drawn near.	2 Elle n'a pas écouté l'appel, elle n'a pas accepté la leçon; à Yahvé elle ne s'est pas confiée, de sonDieu elle ne s'est pas approchée.
3 Her princes in her midst are roaring lions; Her judges are wolves of the night that have had no bones to gnaw by morning.	3 Ses princes au milieu d'elle sont des lions rugissants; ses juges, des loups de la steppe qui negardent rien pour le matin;
4 Her prophets are insolent, treacherous men; Her priests profane what is holy, and do violence to the law.	4 ses prophètes sont des vantards, des imposteurs; ses prêtres profanent les choses saintes, ils violentla Loi.
5 The LORD within her is just, who does no wrong; Morning after morning he renders judgment unfailingly, at dawn.	5 Au milieu d'elle, Yahvé est juste; il ne commet rien d'inique; matin après matin, il promulgue sondroit, à l'aube il ne fait pas défaut. (Mais l'inique ne connaît pas la honte).
6 I have destroyed nations, their battlements are laid waste; I have made their streets deserted, with no one passing through; Their cities are devastated, with no man dwelling in them.	6 J'ai retranché les nations, leurs tours d'angle ont été détruites; j'ai rendu leurs rues désertes: plus depassants! leurs cités ont été saccagées: plus d'hommes, plus d'habitants!
7 I said, "Surely now you will fear me, you will accept correction"; She should not fail to see all I have visited upon her. Yet all the more eagerly have they done all their corrupt deeds.	7 Je disais: "Au moins tu me craindras, tu accepteras la leçon; à ses yeux ne peuvent s'effacer tant devenues dont je l'ai visitée." Mais non! ils se sont hâtés de pervertir toutes leurs actions!
8 Therefore, wait for me, says the LORD, against the day when I arise as accuser; For it is my decision to gather together the nations, to assemble the kingdoms, In order to pour out upon them my wrath, all my blazing anger; For in the fire of my jealousy shall all the earth be consumed.	8 C'est pourquoi, attendez-moi - oracle de Yahvé - au jour où je me lèverai en accusateur; car j'aidécrété de réunir les nations, de rassembler les royaumes, pour déverser sur vous ma fureur, toute l'ardeur de macolère. (Car du feu de ma jalousie toute la terre sera dévorée.)
9 For then I will change and purify the lips of the peoples, That they all may call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one accord;	9 Oui, je ferai alors aux peuples des lèvres pures, pour qu'ils puissent tous invoquer le nom deYahvé et le servir sous un même joug.
10 From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia and as far as the recesses of the North, they shall bring me offerings.	10 De l'autre rive des fleuves d'Ethiopie, mes suppliants m'apporteront mon offrande.
11 On that day You need not be ashamed of all your deeds, your rebellious actions against me; For then will I remove from your midst the proud braggarts, And you shall no longer exalt yourself on my holy mountain.	11 Ce jour-là tu n'auras plus honte de tous les méfaits que tu as commis contre moi, car j'écarterai deton sein tes orgueilleux triomphants; et tu cesseras de te pavaner sur ma montagne sainte.
12 But I will leave as a remnant in your midst a people humble and lowly, Who shall take refuge in the name of the LORD;	12 Je ne laisserai subsister en ton sein qu'un peuple humble et modeste, et c'est dans le nom deYahvé que cherchera refuge
13 the remnant of Israel. They shall do no wrong and speak no lies; Nor shall there be found in their mouths a deceitful tongue; They shall pasture and couch their flocks with none to disturb them.	13 le reste d'Israël. Ils ne commettront plus d'iniquité, ils ne diront plus de mensonge; on ne trouveraplus dans leur bouche de langue trompeuse. Mais ils pourront paître et se reposer sans que personne les inquiète.
14 Shout for joy, O daughter Zion! sing joyfully, O Israel! Be glad and exult with all your heart, O daughter Jerusalem!	14 Pousse des cris de joie, fille de Sion! une clameur d'allégresse, Israël! Réjouis-toi, triomphe detout ton coeur, fille de Jérusalem!
15 The LORD has removed the judgment against you, he has turned away your enemies; The King of Israel, the LORD, is in your midst, you have no further misfortune to fear.	15 Yahvé a levé la sentence qui pesait sur toi; il a détourné ton ennemi. Yahvé est roi d'Israël aumilieu de toi. Tu n'as plus de malheur à craindre.
16 On that day, it shall be said to Jerusalem: Fear not, O Zion, be not discouraged!	16 Ce jour-là, on dira à Jérusalem: Sois sans crainte, Sion! que tes mains ne défaillent pas!
17 The LORD, your God, is in your midst, a mighty savior; He will rejoice over you with gladness, and renew you in his love, He will sing joyfully because of you,	17 Yahvé ton Dieu est au milieu de toi, héros sauveur! Il exultera pour toi de joie, il te renouvellerapar son amour; il dansera pour toi avec des cris de joie,
18 as one sings at festivals. I will remove disaster from among you, so that none may recount your disgrace.	18 comme aux jours de fête. J'ai écarté de toi le malheur, pour que tu ne portes plus l'opprobre.
19 Yes, at that time I will deal with all who oppress you; I will save the lame, and assemble the outcasts; I will give them praise and renown in all the earth, when I bring about their restoration.	19 Me voici à l'oeuvre avec tous tes oppresseurs. En ce temps-là, je sauverai les éclopées, je rallierailes égarées, et je leur attirerai louange et renommée par toute la terre, quand j'accomplirai leur restauration.
20 At that time I will bring you home, and at that time I will gather you; For I will give you renown and praise, among all the peoples of the earth, When I bring about your restoration before your very eyes, says the LORD.	20 En ce temps-là, je vous guiderai, au temps où je vous rassemblerai; alors je vous donnerailouange et renommée parmi tous les peuples de la terre, quand j'accomplirai votre restauration sous vos yeux, ditYahvé.
